Is this a case of "Do As I say Not As I Do"?

We have all at one time or another, been peeved at the word filter and words we cant use, especially in creating a mission in MA.
Well tonight I did a normal in game mission on my 42, and the boss (He was a freak tank named 5l1c3r D1c3r) right after we uhh "Arrested" him, said, and I quote "Damn! Biff's gonna be working overtime for this!"
Now I spent hours sometimes trying to write a story, that the word filter would allow me, and yet a boss in the normal mission can cuss all he wants??
What Gives....
Of course I'm partially joking about being upset, but still

Well, "Damn" isn't in the censor's list. "God damn" is. As is "God damned" and "[censored]"(god damn without the space) as well. But "damn" by itself is not present in the list. I believe that MA uses a stricter list than the regular chat filter though, so it may have been added. The whole thing sucks and needs to be revisited imo. If you want to see how ridiculous some of the words on the list are, just google "coh censored word list" and it should be the first link (it's actually about two years old by now, but I don't think anything has changed for the regular chat filter). And, as if it really needs to be said, there be naughty words on the list so don't go lookin' if that kind of [censored] offends you.

"Damn" and "Hell" are allowed as they are technically not swear words.

Hellion bosses are called the Damned, so they can't logically filter the word.

I have used both hell and damn in my MA arcs with no problems. If you're trying to have custom critters dropping F-bombs of course it's not going to let you.

Try writing dialog in the MA using the words hell and damn, I would be willing to bet it will allow it.

These days, "damn" isn't really considered a "cuss" anymore. It's considered "rude" at worst, and even then, not by all that large a portion of the populace. Remember, "Hell" used to be highly offensive outside of direct religious references.

I have a hero with the word Damn in his name. I've had God knows how many self-righteous idiots PM me to let me know they petitioned me, and I am still rocking that name. Not sure why you aren't allowed to use it in AE, but you ought to be.

[/ QUOTE ]Yes. The devs can do anything they want to with their game, including (and not limited to) using profanity in their story arcs and making homages of popular characters/people.

What the people playing the game can do is a completely separate issue.

Also, "alot" isn't a word. (Yet.) Either you forgot the space between "a" and "lot", or you misspelled "allot", which wouldn't make any sense if used there anyway. (Considering how common it's becoming i suspect that "alot" will become the "ain't" of the 21st century, but i won't let it happen without a fight! Or at least a quibble or two. )

My 42 DM/Regen Scrapper, Dammit, was nuked by the powers that be a few years ago.

I still think they were damn stupid about that one.

Appeal it. The chat filter doesn't even block "damn" or any variations thereof, and we pretty much all know that the chat filter is overly sensitive most of the time.
