I would say that it because the tanker does not feel he can keep the agro or survive in the size mob he is faced with, or that the lay out of the map opens the possibility of surrounding being agroed. In these situations the tanker should really warn the team this is what he intends to do. It is a good tactic for the tanker to use taunt to pull IMO, it usually means a nice sized mob comes after him and can be picked off by the team and the tanker still takes agro from incoming mobs. However the tank needs a corner to hide round for it to work effectively, so the mobs don't just turn round and use their range aghast him, sometimes it can mean the tank has to retreat some distance to find a suitable hiding place. The important thing to remember is that the whole team knows this before he does it or it seems like the tank is just dragging a mob through the team.

Hi everyone
I am kinda new to the defender, I have a lvl 28 Empath/Elec and I love the change from beating mobs down to looking after and buffing the team, so I will be taking AB, looks like a pretty cool power, could peeps give me a hand with the slotting pease, was gonna go for 3 end mods but if i stack it with increased attack rate, will this enhance the recharge times of someone I buff it with? could be a stupid question but was just wondering.
Thanks -
I think ya got bags of support here mate, after reading your post see nothing wrong with your tactics, infact I have an energy/energy brute and I think I may nick a couple of your tactics. many muppets in PvP it just gives me more reason to hunt em down.
-
Its a panic button IMO, don't get me wrong I love this power but i don't use it all the time, infact a go for mish after mish not touching it, but i love having it there when IH is down, my heals are recharging half the team has face planted and i am looking at agrosville i click it and battle on, regen is about options and managing those option in the right times, MoG is a last resort but a good one. I got eye of the magus too, takes abit of work to get (much time farming Master Illusion pets) but i click that right after MoG and that really does give you uber defence.

I have't taken it on my regen and i never thought i needed it, untill i respeced and started running alot more toggles now i feel it would be usful, as has been said before in this thread it depends on the rest of your build, if you only plan to run intergration then you could prob get away without stamina, however if you pick up lots of toggles in your pool powers and epics you may really want it, I noticed my endurance issues started when i began running FA perma.
I don't know how QR compares to stamina but if it falls into line with the rest of the game QR should be stronger as it is a power in an actual power set, and as i understand it they should always be stronger than any version of it you can get in pool powers. -

I dont think its totally down to the tanks. Nowadays it seems teams wont give you just even 2 secs to consolidate the agro b4 they begin there AoEs.

Yes and then when you try to ask the team to hold off with thier attacks until you have the stuation under control you get nasty comments about how your telling everyone what to do, and in come some abuse playing on the word "tanker" and people saying how i am being bossy and i should just let the team get on with it, this has happened a couple of times to me. Having said that i have had alot of fun with my tank in teams who are prepared to let me do my work first. -
That is very much how i play mine, I stay human almost all the time using dwarf if a tank is needed. The blasts you get can make a nice attack chain on thier own but I respeced the first blast out as it is very low damage, even without it I can happily stand at the back and blast away, although its never long before i wanna go up front and use a couple of melee attacks, and with build up and Incandesent Strike you can one hit kill alot of minions. TBH I see me PB as abit of a blaster in human, blaster get the option of a couple of melee attacks as do PB's, you get Dawn Strike, the main difference is you get sheilds, self heals, light form and a few other fancy PB only powers such as being able to turn into a Dwarf or a squid. Squid of course is all about blasting but i found it alittle boring after awhile and very squishy

could I come plz, 6 is fine for me but i can do 7 aswell if that is better for others

Anyone can be as sneaky as a stalker and upset people in the same way, I was in Warburg awhile back and when i arrived there was a group of about 6 or 7 villians on the beach, there was 1 other hero there, a blaster standing on the ship chatting to the villians on broadcast, it was clear the villians were working as a team and me (scrapper) and the other hero (blaster) had a cat in hels chance of getting any kills there, I tried and got squished very fast, we were there for PvP so standing around was not going to get us anywhere and people started putting them selves forward for 1 on 1 fights, i took a challenge from a brute and we had a good match, non of the other villians got involed and the blaster even went to stand with the group of villians to join the dance pary they were having. During my fight another few heros turned up, a tank and 2 more blasters, they joined the team me and the blaster had started and were informed of the state of play atm, understanding this they joined the beach party, after my fight with the brute was over the tank started a 1 on 1 with a corruptor, again everyone let them get on with it. After that ended we all danced on the beach, everyone was chatting on broadcast and getting along. all of a sudden one of the new blasters placed himself in the centre of the group and started buffing himself, I counted 4 big enrages and build up, then BOOM inferno, resulting in a party of upset villians, they all died bar the brute. You should of heard the comments role in, dirty cheating hero and what not. My point being every AT and imploy cheaky tactics its just alot of people see stalkers using nothing but. There are alot of solid points on this thread. I still feel a 1 hit kill from no where is unfair though.

I took issue 1 to mean "this is how i understand stone/stone atm but my views may change and there will be improved issues in the future" but I may also be wrong,

U guys DO see that its says 'Issue 1' at the top of the thread right? Though don't bother askin me why Inf has seen fit to waste his time on a build that is completely obsolete now, because the answer would most likely be 'Ask your mother.'

I am sure his tanker will be fantastic and i am sure issue 2 will be a solid build, I don't think people responded to this thread thinking "yeah I'll show him how [censored] his build is" I think they read it cos they found it intresting and wanted to see if they could pick up a few tips, I know I did, seeing a few weaknesses they opened them up for debate only sharing thier theories with others, that is the fantastic thing about the forums. -
A couple of people have quoted me on my line about stalkers being villians, nobody has mentioned what i said after that about stalkers damage being wrong, i hate stalkers for when they 1 hit kill my icle troller. However before this thread a stalker was the only AT i was not going to play, now i am going to have one of every AT. i am gonna have a katana/nin stalker i think and after i AS i am gonna stay till i either win or loose
-
PB sounds are not very good, the constant ringing of the sheilds I find the worst, incandesent strike has a nice sound, sounds like a missile flying past building up to a big explosion, other than that when i play my PB i turn the sounds down and fire up media player
-
Stalkers are villians, villians are nasty and use nasty tricks to kill you. Big supprise there. However i think stalkers means of damage is badly ballenced. I think AS should do a persentage damage but no more than say 80%, thier attacks after that should do more damage to balance.
The reason i feel this is because if a stalker 1 hit kills someone they have no time to react or do anything, people want to have a fight use thier powers and win or loose, even with 80% it will still make you jump and through you into a frantic situation of scrambling for buttons, but you can pull it back, that would just make a hard fight but like i said nobody said fighting villians would be easy.
As they are if you want to do serious PvP you need to tie some powers into your build aimed at stalker spotting. -
Troke lvl 50 Dark melee/regen scrap would like to come if there is space plz
-
Yes please Troke would like to come lvl 50 Dark Melee/regen scrap, tyvm
-
I love them, yes sometimes they are frustrating but the best time i find them usfull is when you are backed up in a corner with no support, like peeps have already said fired at point blank range, everything is thrown back from you and thier damage is good.
-
A damage dealer who can look after himself how greats that, give me a scrapper over a blaster any day. Plus i think they are the easiest to lvl as there secondary set alows them to solo very wel.
-
Yep Dwarf is the only real way and that will stop all holds knockback etc, the cloak gives you alittle imob defence. Other than that like you said the leaping pool power is the only way, but with an AT that has so many powers is there space for it in the build, I came from a scrapper and the wonderfull world of intergration to a PB and WS at first i was dead set on having leaping but as i lvled i have found there is just no space for it
Unless you try to go without stamina and I really don't know if you would get away with it, maybe on a warshade but def not on a peacebringer
-
I agree with the fact mudpot are taken too late, I use that to taunt mobs more than taunt itself. As a tank I feel wrong if there is damage types I can't defened agaist, wait till you get to the praetorians pure psi crew and all you got for them is granite armor! tanking will be out of the question in that situ, and try scranking with granites -damage.
I think PvP is poss for stone tanks just not in granite armor cos big debuffs will be your end, and anyway the +perception you get from minerals is very good and it is funny watching the stalkers creep up conviced you have no clue they are there, then BANG with a sizemic smash.
Granite armor for everything, unless you come under debuff or psi attack then a rock, minerals, crystal, brimstone combo. Thats how i am gonna play it -
I don't use it for every minion, the rest of my attacks debuff them enogh i feel, but when i come agaist a boss or AV i start to spam it in my attack chain whenever it is charged. The reel reason I have it is for PvP, so little fear protection in the game that it tends to hit quite well and can provide breathing time in a 1 on 1 if your end drops low, i just sit back a few and spam nothing but that while it builds back up.
-
Questions i really wanna know the answers to aswel please. The only additional info i can provide is when picking up a plaque once i actually stopped to read it, it said this was the spot where the first kheld used his power to help defend paragon, suddgesting that the was maybe a period of alliance but where the khelds refused to get involved for 1 reason or another. A pitifull piece of info i know and am sorry, but like i said i will be keeping a close eye on this tread and would love someone with the knowledge and time to let us know.
-
I don't have stamina, never felt i needed it, conserve power is there enogh of the time and those 3 powers i really need elsewhere for my build, even 1 on 1 i don't need it, if i need a breather i spam "touch iof fear" a few times and nothing else till i have a good lenth of blue to go again, the only other alt i will even consider not getting stamina on is my empath defender, everything else i see it as standard.
-
ok its in the build then at 41, maybe 35 would of been better but photon seekers looked fun, light form is going in at 38 and i ain't up for moving that. I am sure i will sort the order out in a respec
