I simply fail to understand why people have a hard time being honest and straight-forward unless it's in anonymity.

IMHO, anonymity has a tendency to make people more likely to act like sphincters.

[/ QUOTE ]Because if you're sending honest, constructive criticism, too many people don't know how to accept that. When "Interesting idea, but spelling and grammar errors made it difficult to read. Work on those, it'll be a better mission." gets a reply "[censored] yu just caus i cant spell dosnt make it a bad mish", I'm sorely tempted to go back and reduce my rating, and reduces the chance of me sending any kind of feedback to anyone.

Yeah, there are sphincters. There are always sphincters. Even if it was anonymous to the recipient, I bet the devs would have access to the ids for following up on petitions.

    Back on topic:

Courtesy is never a waste of time. I don't expect a response when I send a feedback, but basic courtesy is so rare online that it's a delight to receive it.

You might be better served by asking people to send you requests by Private Message so the thread can focus on the reviews (which otherwilse are gonna be heavily outnumbered by the requests ).

    [/ QUOTE ]

OTOH, some of the descriptions prompted me to put them on MY list, too.
  4. You need a "Ways NOT to promote your arc" list.

    It can start with:

Posting "Play my Arc" messages in otherwise unrelated threads.

MArch spam has come to the forums.
  5. Costume Change Emotes? Costume Change Emotes?! COSTUME CHANGE EMOTES?!?!

Okay, THAT certainly came out of the blue!

I can't wait to actually see them, those alone could be worth the bucks.
  6. Okay, I guess I should admit. I made a deal with the devs, and they'll have "problems" that will keep the servers down until about 3:00pm . . . PACIFIC Time.

Of course, that has nothing to do with when *I* get home from work.
  7. your right foot. Don't worry, be hoppy!

    I paid my debt to society, and I got . . .
  8. Not trash talk, just that I have the opposite experience. Almost every team I get on that does a safeguard finds and runs all the sides, minimum, and they frequently sweep most of the street mobs, too.

It's very rare, in my experience, for them to just stop the robbery and get out.

I don't know if it's a server difference, or what.
  9. I used to have specific colors on several chat keybinds, also. It's quite frustrating.

I have one that sends a tell to myself with my level, origin and archetype. (Very useful for us altistic types.) I have the <duration 1> command on that, so the bubble will go away in 1 second. That doesn't work either, but I'm leaving that command in because no one else sees it, and it'll tell me if/when they get fixed.

    Welcome Back!
  10. It is my understanding that all in-chat commands that are set in < & > are broken. A revision to the chat an issue or so ago broke the < & >, and, while it will be fixed someday, it hasn't yet.

The only option seems to be to take them out completely.

Note that the post you replied to is almost a year old. The break was much more recent than that.

Uh, we dont need Atlantis, and Lemuria is just another sunken or lost continent. Now, what do we already have in the game that directly points to the third of the famous 'sunken' continents of mythology? Hmmm, what could it be? Oh, I dont know; maybe...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Honestly, when I read that and though about making an underwater zone that was not an ancient sunken city, I thought of an underwater base. You know, kind of like in The Abyss, Leviathan, Deep Star Six (to dredge up the past a bit ) or even more recently Bioshock. Personally, I'm not interested in going INTO the water, but a zone in a base UNDER the water would be cool, especially if it had a lot of large windows looking into the sea and maybe small sections of deep(ish) water ala that little pool in Grandville.

I am not, however, interested in the land of underwater lemurs. Or Atlantis. Or the Coralax, even.

[/ QUOTE ]Exactly. Just like a moon base, most, if not all, of an underwater zone would be inside a controlled, "shirt sleeve" environment. That way they wouldn't have to deal with the effects of water on powers except in limited areas, if at all.

    Underwater cities other than Atlantis:

The one in "Captain Nemo and the Underwater City".

Pacifica, from "City Under the Sea".

The already mentioned Star Wars one.

Those are off the top of my head. Now excuse me while I go get a bandage.

I see no valid reason that you have to go so freaking slow while using it. Seriously, it has an end drain to compensate for the small defense boost it offers.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's extra endurance cost stems from it's ability to allow you to travel in any direction on the X, Y, or Z axis. That's the reason it costs more, not the defense boost, as Combat Jumping has the same defense boost and costs significantly less.

[/ QUOTE ]Hover also gives you significant KB mitigation.

I know it appears that I didn't get that it was an April fools joke, I did. I decided to give an April fools answer.

Ok ok it didn't work out too well, but I have already admitted I am not good at this stuff.

[/ QUOTE ]Your subtlety was simply too sophisticated for me to discern, then.
  15. Clothing made to look like the flag is disrespectful. "Stars and Stripes" is not, but the ones that duplicate the field and stripes, so they look like they were made from an actual flag, are. There is no law against it (and I would fight instituting one right beside the rest of you) but that doesn't make it any less disrespectful.

Just because you CAN do a thing, doesn't mean it's OKAY to do that thing.

Wearing clothing that looks like it's made from ANY country's flag is disrespectful. Including capes. Yes, I think Hero1's flag disrespects the Union Jack.

Apparently, though, I'm in the minority on this, and can accept that.

"Dial down the real life", though, was a bit much. There are other things in the game that are restricted or discouraged because of their real world equivalents. Even though they can't actually be portrayed in game, even just roleplaying them can get you reported, disciplined, even banned. (I don't need to give specific examples, you can all come up with your own quite easily.) So responding to the "flag as cape" suggestion based on how I'd respond to it in the real world was not unreasonable.

My views, though, are apparently not widely shared, so I'll just leave it at that.
  16. [ QUOTE ]
Symbols are for the symbol minded - George Carlin

Having respect for a symbol is not the same as having respect for your country and your way of life.

[/ QUOTE ](The political can was opened by the OP. With care, I think we can stay on the safe side of the politics line.)

That's one of the few places that Carlin missed the target. Man IS a symbol minded creature. Symbols have always held immense power, throughout human history, and still do today. We all equate the symbol with its target, and can only disassociate the two on an intellectual level. At the gut level, we respond to an assault on the symbol the same as we would to an assault on its target.

When I read the original post, my kneejerk reaction was "No frikkin' way!" Then I had to analyze why I felt so strongly about it. (I try to do that with all my kneejerk reactions.) And my post was the reasons I uncovered. In a world with superheroes, wearing a flag as a cape would mean it would get dragged in the dirt, covered in various vile, disgusting things, and damaged frequently. Even if it's made from some kind of super-fabric so it doesn't take physical damage, the rest would still happen. And putting ANY flag in that situation is simply not respectful, to the flag, or to its target.

Sure, the game engine doesn't currently show dirt, soil, or damage, but do you really want to see your flag dangling in sewer effluent? Getting puked on by Vazhilok? The game CAN show those.
  17. DBK: Death by keyboard. When you start typing, but didn't hit enter or click in the chat box, and your character runs into a spawn and dies.

  18. [ QUOTE ]
I think 50 levels is more than enough, but I understand your position, I just think its reaching a bit.

    [/ QUOTE ]
You should probably read it again. Carefully.

    /em thumbsup, Sigium!
  19. It's not one that would come up as often as those others you're probably thinking of, so just don't put a "don't show again" on it.

I haven't done this my self, but I can sure see what a hassle it could be.

    (That means "/signed", btw. )
  20. How would you feel if I took your national flag down from a flagpole, threw it down on the ground and walked all over it? Or I shot several holes in it? Stuck my finger down my throat and vomited all over it? Put on a set of Kung Fu Tiger Claws, and ripped a bunch of holes in it? Took a knife and stabbed and ripped it several times? Burned it? Threw acid on it? Dumped a bunch of raw sewage on it? (Which would include human feces, among other things.)

You really have no problem with that?

Because if you wear it as a cape, that's just a few of the things that are going to happen to it.

If you really have no objection to defacing the flag of your country that way, what kind of message are you really sending about how you feel about your country?

Respect for your country and for the flag that represents it includes NOT putting it in a situation where you know it will become soiled, torn, burnt, befouled or otherwise defaced. Wearing it as a cape would most certainly be putting it in such a situation.

Look up the colors and the flags of nations you want to have your characters come from, and use those within the costume creator to associate them with those countries. But if you wouldn't be comfortable seeing the flag of your own nation torn, burnt, soiled and defaced as a part of someone's costume, then you should extend the same courtesy to the flags of other nations.
  21. I can't think of any practical way to allow customized character-specific items of any kind. But I still dream.

Been there, done that, felt exactly the same.

That was a case of mistaken identity being used to comedic effect, much as they often were in the early text adventures to which Bill refers.

My question is how a Hellion had Influence in the first place, and how someone was able to loot it from a corpse.

[/ QUOTE ]Yes, we do actually realize that. But, since it would be impossible to top Bill's cleverness there, we, just like you, could only grab a single bit and run with it.

City of Retro, the Text Adventure!

You are in Atlas Park. In front of you, you see steps leading up to a pavillion. On that pavillion is Ms. Liberty. Behind her is a giant statue, and City Hall.
