  1. [QUOTE=SpyralPegacyon;3904209]..., I have to say its been a sheer joy. ...

^THIS is what we don't see enough of. THanks for posting. Glad you're having a rocking good time.

    Scoring
You failed to give "the REAL reason game is going Free 2 Play" (sic). You did, however, hold yourself up as personally victimized by the unfortunate juxtaposition of much-needed maintenance and your work schedule, which earned you one point. You received one point for the near-mandatory dubious claim that when you worked in the industry this sort of thing Just Wasn't Done. Finally, you received one point for your liberal use of caps. I also awarded you one bonus point (total) for for admitting to having problems with emotion regulation ("rage issues"), and for your ridiculous fast food analogy that wouldn't even make sense after abusing inhalants.

    Suggestions for Future Rants
    • Ensure that your title matches the content of your rant. When presented with this rant for scoring, I expected to read a variation on "the game is dying" or "devs want all our dollars to buy dalmatian puppies to skin alive and wear as frock coats". Needless to say, I was disappointed.
    • Consider demanding some compensation from the devs, either free subscription time, or perhaps some poorly-calculated cash value. Something along the lines of "I can only play for five hours a month, and there was ten hours of maintenance, so they should pay me thirty dollars because they ate two months of my playtime!" would serve well here.
    • Try to find a way to insult those who don't agree with you. Suggestions include calling those with a more reasonable or balanced point of view "fanbois" or "brown nosers", or perhaps claiming that they have no lives.

Please don't be discouraged. I'm looking forward to your next rant; I expect it will be greatly improved.

And I award you 50 internets. This made me lol.
  3. You'd think by the replies that I was trolling, which I was not.

I only read the responses on the first page, sorry to 2nd and 3rd pagers.

    Here are some replies:

    1) to the person who stated "They're rolling out a new game and want it to go smooth at launch" Um...didn't it launch like 2004? This is an existing game. NOT a new game.

    2) I had no idea they were replacing their servers. That being said, I DO remember several days or a couple weeks ago them taking the servers down for most of the day to "replace" servers. So, I guess they replaced the replacements already? I currently work for government Intel (Yes, Oxymoron I know) and when I had to swap out our server to the MF last year I was allotted 2 hours to swap completely over. Brought the main server online, ran them simultaneously w/ data streams, and had a downtime w/ loss of service for 27 minutes when completed. I guess this is impossible in the "gaming universe" of technology.

    3) A couple of hours would be one thing...this was not a couple of hours. This was 6 hours. It was up in 5. Huzzah? So, I should be happy to pay for a game (yep, still paying) that is literally going DOWN every day? EVERY SINGLE DAY for the past...I dunno, feels like forever...the game goes down for "unplanned maintenence" in the mornings. If indeed this is again due to server issues from swapping over, then I have an idea on how to fix it:

    PROPOSED FIX FOR CUSTOMER SATISFACTION:
Give people who paid for this sorry excuse of a month a free month of play. There, I'll say it. Customer Satisfaction is sorta important to companies these days. I, and many others, pay for your service that we aren't really getting what we pay for. Why not offer an "We're sorry for the inconvenience, here's a free month on us."

^I don't have any delusional ideology that this would happen, but whenever raising VALID concerns I think it's only prosperous to offer a solution, no matter how absurd.

    Tourettes.
  4. This isn't going to be a rant...but it's certainly not pleasant to hear. (Could not find a forum to post dissatisfied issues w/ the game, so if a Mod sees this and wishes to put it in the proper place please do so)

Live Server Publishes. Why so many of them? And who gave them my work schedule? Seems EVERY SINGLE TIME I have some hours to play w/o kids, the wife, or work...there's an unexpected 4 hour maintenece, or live server publish. Wait...don't they have a once a week Server Maintence? Oh yeah...that's Thursdays.

Honestly, I cannot WAIT for my subscription to go "Free" because I love this game. Really I do. But it NEVER fails to piss me off to a degree it's hard to describe to any person who doesn't have rage issues when random LONG intervals of playtime are interrupted for no real reason.

I worked for a game company for a while. They had a policy that NO ONE would dare break. All patches went in on patch day. PERIOD. There had to be some kind of EPIC flaw in the game or exploit that hundreds of people were using to usher in a "hot fix". Most games are like that. Know why? People will not continue to pay for something that's not available to them at their convenience. Imagine if McDonalds closed all their drive thru's. Think people would still go there if it was a sit down only restaurant? Only die hard fatso's and parents.

    Changes to EA

With stealth up (old powers AND new powers) I can bump mobs. This is with every single mob up to 4 lvls my superior. They WILL NOT attack me unless I activate an attack power. No aggro from taunt aura, so it is suppressed. I don't know who I'm agreeing with, or who I'm shutting down, but if you are thinking that I am supposed to be taunting mobs via an aura while stealthed...then you're dead wrong and I have no idea what game you're playing.

Also, when you attack and break the stealth, then your stealth is suppressed EVEN AFTER you kill all aggro'd mobs for a short time. This means if I super speed into a non-aggro'd mob prior to stealth coming back up (de-suppressing?) then I WILL be noticed and attacked. It only takes a few seconds to go back into effect.

Also, by bump I mean I TOUCH the mob. I am as close as possible in the game. Any closer and we'd swap pixels/molecules.

Thanks for all the info about the changes. Prior to the changes the toon was superior against all mobs except Psi...I don't see anything has changed to alter this. So, staying away from Master Illusionists still. They wreck my face.

  6. If anyone could PM me a farm that has been adjusted to NOT include the rezzing I'd appreciate it.

    It's for Fire Farmer 'natch.

    Thx.
  7. Building a toon to be superman-esque. Went w/ tank. Invul/SS. Trying to make him as tough to kill as possible is my primary goal. Here are some givens:

    Has to have flight (Which I can take w/o pre-reqs @lvl 4)
Does NOT have to have energy eye beams
Has Hasten and Super Speed, would like to keep.

Currently have him set to Inv/SS/Arctic with Ion Judgement and Spiritual Alpha Slot (Rech).

Anyone have a build like this?

    Tourettes.

    Oh, and is lvl 50.

My Brute is Nrg/Nrg and he's a total BA! (against single targets). If you get flooded w/ toons (IE AE Farms) then you'll die 1,000 horrible deaths. But against a normal sized mob, you attack the boss or elite boss or Hero first, and ignore the others pretty much.

Energy Melee is TOTALLY AWESOME! I have all of my sets slotted w/ KnockBack and fling them around like rag dolls. Single targets go down FAST.

I don't PVP much at all. In fact I hate it. But this toon is the only one I go into PVP zones safely with. He's a beast. Often heroes are like, "Why can't I hit you?" and I'm all "Stun Stun Stun Knockback" and lol'ing. It honestly takes 2+ Heroes to take me down, and 1vs1 he's just wrong.

PS- What are the changes you're talking about? I cannot find them.

  11. Thinking of making an Ill/Kin-troller and wondering what the benefits are...my thoughts (Geared towards a lvl 50 character) are that I would have an invisible, high Defense character, with indestructible pets running around most of the time. Is this thinking correct?

What I'd like are descriptions of what people are able to do w/ their Ill/Kins. Is it your favorite toon? Is it solo geared, or friend geared?

    Thanks for the read.

Also, if you feel the urge, you can post your build here. Builds that have 200 purples and cost $7Gazillion Inf will be summarily overlooked.

  12. 1st MAJOR question: Does Fiery Embrace boost the damage of fire attacks from my Ancillary Pool (Pyre) and my Epic pool (newfangled whatchamadoodle) Tier-1 fire blast?

Been farming w/ my ss/fire brute since making him and lvl'ing to 50. He came from Gold and went to hero, and never been a villain, so limited currently in his ancillary pools to heroic ones.

Only IO's I've slotted for him currently are 2x LotG 7.5's, a Steadfast KB protector, and a Steadfast Resistance +3%. All other slots are just SO's... :/

When I farm, it's either AE's w/ NO bosses (If w/ others I spawn it first as the bosses ravage me) or it's the close the portals mission that backflashes to the 5th column way back when.

I'd like to know what the pro's think is the way to achieve being able to take on the bosses in spawns? IE what build change.

    Build currently uses:
SS: Punch (seldom use, not slotted); Rage (3 slot recharge) on auto; Foot Stomp (6 slots)
Fire: Every Power taken. Most 3 or 4 slotted. 6 in Blazing aura, Healing Flames, Consume,
Fighting: Boxing (never use), Tough, Weave. Both 4 slotted. 3x def/res, 1x end redux
Speed: Hasten 3 rech, Super Speed (Can ditch on respec as have Ninja Gaiden run)
Leadership: Maneuvers (LotG mule), Assault, Tactics. Run both of the latter
    Leaping: Combat Jumping (LotG)
Pyre: Ring of Fire (never use), Melt Armor 3x recharge, Fireball 6 slot for dmg
For my Epic-whatchamacallit power I have 1st tier Fire blast.
Also have the Epic-Damage boost. 1st tier.

TL;DR: Want to enhance/modify this build to make it able to handle bosses in a farm, while maintaining the speed.

    EDIT: I farm at +0x8.

    Thanks,
    Tourettes...aka Cortex Prime
  13. I had to remove the cone attack from my FF/Energy Defender all together. Every other attack I used would let mobs ignore me. But as soon as my Cone energy wave knockdown doo da hit mobs, I was the center of attention and would quickly get a beat down. Single attacks, and even my PBAoE didn't get the attention of the cone.

I am not saying there's a link to the cones, but I'm saying if anyone would like a REAL challenge, then put any AT w/ aggro up against some mobs, and I can pull 'em w/ one push of a button.

Pretty sad. I could see this making sense if I were doing moderate dmg even, but it's so insignifigant it boggles the mind.

    Tourettes.
  14. What is the lowest lvl PVP zone? IE, what is the soonest you can PVP? And, if it's lower than the cap for Test server toons, why wouldn't someone just make a "Punching Dummy" and go for getting their drops?

Also, will the PVP IO's drop in the arena?

    Tourettes.
  15. So, 80 seconds downtime is the number we're coming up with? That about right?
  16. Hey all. Last challenge was well met. My FF/EB fender is a beast. (TYVM PoliceWoman).

Now, my second toon I ever made, and the MOST fun toon I have for teaming has always been Mr. Taxi. He's a Kinetic/Electric Defender who basically just buffs and buffs and buffs. He's never ever been a soloable toon. (Even though he can end drain mobs "like a boss"). He also dies. A LOT! Never had any decent survivability.

My question is this: If I go w/ Epic set of Power Mastery...how close could I get to getting Force of Nature to be Perma? I'm pretty certain I couldn't get it ACTUALLY perma, but close.

Not too worried about the crash. As I see it coming, I always pop a blue, Transferrence, and I'm still in it to win it.

So, here's what I run w/ him currently. What do you all think?

PS- This is how he's been since pre- Health and Stamina being free, so that's why they aren't slotted. I never took 'em cuz I didn't need to. But if necessary for slots, feel free.

  17. Deus, I read those threads (most of them) that weren't too obscure. What I listed was a request to critique What' I"ve got going powerwise on a farmer who isn't all about sets.

I can't believe you wasted so much time going to each of those threads, then hyperlinking them in your post.

    That's just sad man.

Now, if you go back and read my OP you'll see that NONE of those threads you wasted your time linking have any answers for what I posted.

    Good Job.

  18. Why WTF another?

I'd like to address the reason for having a SS/Fire brute.

    Totally, 1,000%, Dev's fault.

The game is now about having uber gear and doing a BAF or the other one 1,000,000 times. To that end, you need GEAR. Enhancement IO sets have gotten out of hand in cost. And really, who wants to do 20 trials to get ONE piece you need for a set using the merit system?

So, you farm AE's, get zillions of tickets quickly and easily. Trade 'em in for rolls. Get stupid good drops. Sell them for WAY more than what they should be worth in the AH and then buy the purple sets you need.

That's why "WTF Another SS/FA" brute.

This is not a power combination I would have ever made. I dont' enjoy the concept, and I don't particularly enjoy the grind. But it's the fastest way to get the toons I DO want to play up to speed.

I'll think about getting MU, but before doing so, have you tried Pyre in this combo? It's pretty amazing. Fireball after buffing all damage and all fire damage is pretty fantastic.

    Tourettes.
  19. Made him on Gold, took to hero. Started in the AE self PL'ing and it ramped up after burn. Fairly simple and straightforward to do solo, just remove bosses. Have had it at +2x8 for the duration.

But, now that I'm here what to do w/ the build? THis is a farm toon ONLY. I don't see myself building sets for him or any of that garbage. May do the Alpha slot thing (FIRST ONE ONLY) to get that extra recharge, and possibly the ION attack from Judgement for some more Super hot farming fastness.

Already pretty quick. Here's what I have, and would like some help on.

FIRST off...this is a FARMER. I'm not putting anything more that SO's in him. Only non SO is my LotG-recharge I put in for the help w/ speed. May eventually swap to IO's, but not sets. Just the base ones. Might include some Uniques like accuracy one just because I have extra slots w/ no home.

Would appreciate any suggestions to make this a more efficient farmer.

  20. I made a SS/Fire brute after I saw the first one. I wanted him hero side so I made Gold. Lvl'd him to 20, jumped to blue, and immediately began to PL myself. Was slow at first in the fire ambush farm, then got burn and it was simply easy.

I went w/ Pyre for my epic for Melt armor and Fireball.

I read that others don't use Rage. I have it as my auto attack. IF it's up, I use it.

Sure, I eat inspirations, but you make so many they're ALWAYS there. Only ones I seem to need are purple def. But it just makes it easier, still not a necessity.

    Oh, and I don't farm w/ bosses.
  21. HAHAHA> Was really cool. I tried it originally (not thinking) with my farm toon. He got bumped down to lvl 20 and the only attacks I had were Fiery Aura and punch (Which was single slotted w/ NO enhancement in it. I died a few times, but swapped over to a lvl 25 blaster and finished it no problem.

Great job w/ the writing. Good arcs. 5 stars!
  22. That's a deal. I'll play through an arc when it comes up. I tried to do the crocket and tubbs one I found in your YouTUbe vid linked in sig, but the number listed didn't pull it up.

I'll give the feedback and also send you a PM in here when I finish to give you specific likes/ don't likes.

  23. I think it would be a good idea that content is tested more thoroughly before being put on live servers.

My playtime might be during Non-Peak hours when these daily Down-Times are...but that's my down time.

A section of your player base plays early in the morning. (Hello, East Coasters getting the kids off to school and sling some CoH before errands and whatnots).

Since the release of i20 it has been a daily occurrence of "Unscheduled" maintenence. There have been no compensations for these goofs (I'm not counting Halloween in April) and it's leaving a very bitter taste in a player's mouth to be paying to play a game that is not available during most of my playtimes.

Maybe if I DVR the game I can play it when it's more convenient to me.

    Sigh.

PS- I'm hoping this is in the right forums this time.
  24. PW wins. PM me and let me know your @ name for your monetary reward, of if you want som PL love on Justice Server I can hook you up.

@Silas (which phonetically sounds similary to silly *** to me) there are a couple of things.

1- Why should I have to set the mission to -1? That's just a cop out cheater way. Sure, I don't set my stuff to +1 or +2, but is it TOO Much to ask we able to be able to fight at equal level?

2- There are no neg regen or debuffs with FF. And this may surprise you, but not all Defenders heal either.

3- "Just fly over and knock off his spawns and go back to him....By which time he's back to full health.

4- Damage cap on a defender. I can eat reds until I'm red in the face. I still won't deal signifigant dmg to take him down. Defender damage is a JOKE unless you're playing Rad or Storm and have the debuffs to offset this. Even Kinetic Fenders don't do much w/ Fulcrum Shift and 5+ mobs. I have a 50 Kin/Elec and he also could not solo Trapdoor.

Next time I have one, I'll purposefully set him to -1, but I sincerely doubt that'll be a huge difference. Reading your post and your tone sets a bad taste in my mouth, and more than anything leads me to think you really don't know what you're talking about when it comes to Defenders Solo'ing Trapdoor. Sure there may be 2 builds that can do it. FF/NRG isn't one of them.
