Perma Force of Nature (Tourettes Challenge)

Hey all. Last challenge was well met. My FF/EB fender is a beast. (TYVM PoliceWoman).

Now, my second toon I ever made, and the MOST fun toon I have for teaming has always been Mr. Taxi. He's a Kinetic/Electric Defender who basically just buffs and buffs and buffs. He's never ever been a soloable toon. (Even though he can end drain mobs "like a boss"). He also dies. A LOT! Never had any decent survivability.

My question is this: If I go w/ Epic set of Power Mastery...how close could I get to getting Force of Nature to be Perma? I'm pretty certain I couldn't get it ACTUALLY perma, but close.

Not too worried about the crash. As I see it coming, I always pop a blue, Transferrence, and I'm still in it to win it.

So, here's what I run w/ him currently. What do you all think?

PS- This is how he's been since pre- Health and Stamina being free, so that's why they aren't slotted. I never took 'em cuz I didn't need to. But if necessary for slots, feel free.

YES. I know this build doesn't include the Power Mastery set, but this is how he is NOW.

If you want survivability you'd be best off going with the Mace Mastery pool and taking the Scorpion Shield. You could softcap your s/l defense very easily which would make you much, much tougher. Especially since a lot of Kinetics is melee based and most melee is s/l or has a s/l component.

My personal preference for squishies is defense over resistance. When you get hit you may have to heal for more, but you get hit far less often so you don't have to heal as often. For a set as fast paced as Kinetics, this is great.

FoN with capped recharge would be 200 seconds, so you'd still only be at 60/40 up/down even if you could get to the recharge cap unaided.

Not sure what you can actually reach with power and set bonuses, but I'm guessing a way short of 400%

Quick answer: no. I run my Kin defender with 220% recharge on average, plus spiritual core paragon and Force of Nature recharges in 230 seconds -Ish. Still very much worth it to cut its recharge down as much as possible IMO, but even with capped recharge, it's still going to be unavailable for 80 secs at least.

So, 80 seconds downtime is the number we're coming up with? That about right?

As the theoretical minimum, but you can't get down that low without external buffs.

This.

You're looking for a character who won't drop dead, and there are better ways of achieving that than trying to use a defensive panic button as often as possible.

You could get another 30 seconds out of Barrier. But again, there are better ways to get where you want to go. A Scorpion Shield based build would probably be my first stop. Mu Shield my second. Then Striking a balance between SLM Defense and SLE resist. Toss in some Temps like Kinetic Shield if I really wanted, since you can craft as many as you want.

You can get another 60 seconds of FoNish style survivability with the Eye of the magus accolade.....
