  1. 3) Multiple instances of the same mez type do stack with each other to increase magnitude. Different mez types don't stack together for increaseing magnitude. In stacking sleep, remember damage breaks sleep, so if the mob is being hit with damage as well, your not going to build magnitude on sleep.
    2) enhancements and set bonuses only increase duration generally. With regards to increasing mag with a single application, you have domination which will double the magnitude of the hold. Getting back to enhancements, there is a proc in one of the hold sets that has a chance of a +2 hold, and a proc in one of the ranged sets that has a chance of a 3 mag hold. So assuming you had both procs in your ST hold, and the remaining four slots frankenslotted to give you half decent values, you would have a chance doing a mag 11 hold, but remember procs are unreliable. Also, Singilarity and some of the Patron and Incarnate pets are capable of doing holds, helping you to get enough mag on the target.
    1) Most likely their wanting you to use your holds, since ALL doms and controllers have them, mind is the only set on live with a ST Confuse or Sleep.
  2. One thing that is great about the ATO, is the +AOE defense, even without the catalyst, its a decent amount, and given that AOE tends to be the biggest issue with MM's. The MM's that will be best able to leverage this, are the ones with DEF already obviously
  3. Like what others said, the set is still better for Controllers than Doms. From a dom perspective you depend on your control set for damage mitigation more so than controllers, both because you have an entire secondary for damage, while controllers get additional damage mitigation from their secondary. Any damage you get out of your control set, is icing on the cake. And to a huge extent thats what they did with the set. The one change that would've been great for doms, if they had swapped the place of dimension shift and wormhole.

But with that said, I'm fine with grav, there are other sets out there that function better on one AT that might have them than another. And its not like we don't have a lot of good primaries to choose from, and we are getting Dark Control/Dark Melee.
  4. I placed it in my ST hold and it works like a peach for me
  5. I will say, I half wish they ported Staff Fighting to Doms, I'd love a Dark/Staff Dom, yes its a melee set, but it would work very well concept wise with Doms of all primaries
  6. I haven't decided yet, I am leaning to re-creating my dark/dark on beta,
    other things I am considering,
    Dark/Psi
    Dark/Ice - I don't have a high level Ice Assault dom yet

  8. Funny I don't see anyone mentioning the old hydra hunting teams in Perez Park back in the day.

May the old Positron TF rest in peace, it was a major pain for that level range back in the day

Maybe its just me, but I don't see many respec trials being done anymore, they used to be kind of epic in a way

and OMG the original Hami raids, they were much more fun as well, kind of like how the Rikti raids are now, the problem with the new hami raid, its a bit complicated for an encounter involving large groups to be on the same page, the new itrials for the most part haven't repeated the mistake there.

The old hearding wolf teams where some tanker would heard the entire map were also nice in their own way
  9. IMO, by themselves both powers are ok powers, and depending on which control set you have, odds are not a huge priority for the reasons mentioned above. one of the other things that make these powers a low priority is the fact you have to pick up a taunt power, which you need as bad as you need a snipe, which raises the cost on the powers. Now if we were able to leap in with the tier 3 power of this power pool, these powers might be more attractive to Doms
  10. The primary toon I've spent on incarnates has a tier 3 Alpha, and tier 4 on everything else, I wouldn't describe myself as spending a lot of time in game.
    1) In terms of tier 4's, I'd describe getting them, more easier and enjoyable than trying to get purple IO recipes.
    2) To me the actual argument is, is a tier 4 in every incarnate slot for toon needed, not always, the toon mentioned above is a defense based toon who had some end management issues, which Cardiac solved, getting the tier 4 Cardiac for that toon really won't add that much to the toon.

Look at it this way, DC is suffering from a lack of a unified vision of the DCU, which has been corrected when Johns, Dido and Lee were promoted to their current positions.
The current DCU in my opinion is not salvagable as it currently is. I can name at least 4 characters whose histories are so convoluted that if they could make them more reader friendly by saying this is how everything is , they might become more popular.

    Power Girl
    Hawkman
    Donna Troy
Dick Grayson (Specifically, him being the original Robin Doesn't add up anymore)
The old Guard Justice Society members.

-Another thing that some people have problems with is Superman's marriage to Lois Lane.

I'd hope that DC learned from the mistakes of One Year Later which hurt more titles than it helped in the long run and alienated a lot of readers. While a total reboot may not appeal to some of you, it may actually be the smartest thing DC ever did.
You forgot Hawkman, and Aquaman is getting there as well
  12. Simply that, say something like 1 or 2 emp merits = 1 villian/ hero merit

Overall a very strong episode, with a lot of good story seeds in it.
I admit I was a bit dissappointed we didn't actually get to meet any actual Timelords, in particular the Corsair sounded very interesting, side note, apparantly the Timelords can switch genders when regenerating. We did get to see more of the Tardis, on the downside, it was mainly just cooridors( it would've been cool if it had actually shown distinct rooms, like in the Invasion of Time, but that would've increased production values).

Basically it was a high level entity folded down into a human body. When in the TARDIS it isn't necessarily sentient and self aware in the sense it is when in a human body. But it is alive and aware of what is going on around it and with it.
That part actually didn't bother me, I am glad they were picking up some ideas from the written fiction( specificaly look up Compassion from the 8th Doctor Adventures).
  15. hey with the multple builds why chose? you can have a Night Widow and a Fort build
  16. it wasn't a BAD episode, I think it was meant to be a bit light hearted, every season in the new series has had one like this, but with that said, next week's episode looks pretty awesome. Is it an episode I would deliberately re-watch, maybe not, but any Who is good Who. <sigh> why couldn't a BBC season = 24 weeks instead of 12 or 13. Although to be fair its the same length as a HBO series
  17. it would be nice if instead of earning an etheral merit, you could earn a villian/ hero merit, it would make earning purples that route a little more viable
  18. on an earlier run, i almost did get mapserved, and did get laggy at one point. It would've been hillarious if a three man team managed to complete it( granted I'm sure it would've taken a while)
  19. just had the oddest experience, got invited to a pre-made league, started a Lamda run with the minimum, as soon as we got in, almost everyone went poof( including the League leader), except for me( a fort), a tank, and a brute, managed if a bit slow, all the way to the security guard robot thing inside the bunker( we cleared the streets, the courtyard, and the guns with no problem), we would've had the security guard thing if it wasn't for the heals it does, or if we had one more person. I imagine we could've gotten the second phase, but doubt we could've done the last phase( not enough bodies to carry enough acid, and that 3 ring gimic they added to the Trial AV's would've been a serious hurdle in trial to maintain enough DPS on Maurader

I see it stunning tons of mobs including bosses. So 25% might not seem like a lot, but when doing 8 man missions you see it a lot.
And really its not like its a bad power.
-before - the entire sets damage was balanced against its tier 9, combined with the all or nothing damage resists you see on mobs, made leveling a psi dom not fun until 38( really 40, when your able to get the power 6 slotted)

-Now, PSW is weaker than it used to be, but still is superier to any other Dom PBAE, but all of the other powers had their damage increased making the set more consistant in terms of damage as other sets.

What should I do instead? When I originally set up the league and recruited the players who actually *bothered* to make it to Pocket D (as if that's somehow a chore), there was no way of knowing how many people would join from the LFG queue is there? Should I tell the whole league to just twiddle their thumbs after we've already entered the trial while I re-arrange the teams? So in actuality, letting the queuers stay is simply not good enough. No, I actually need to re-adjust the whole original league of 16 in order to accommodate the extras. Do you even realize asking for league leaders to do that will actually have the exact opposite effect of encouraging them to just boot the queuers and be done with the extra hassle?

Tell you what, when you have the league star, you can run it how you like. I'm already taking the time and responsibility of setting up the leagues (often back-to-back) because many others won't, now you wish to place more burdens on top? This might come as a surprise but like the queuers, I am also here to play a game and to actually enjoy the process. If I have to lead them so be it since I don't mind it. However, I am *not* here to play micromanage-a-league as that is not fun for me. I swear, you give a yard and next they want the whole effing mile.

Edit: I see some people arguing for equal rights to trial as well as fair treatment for the LFG queuers but there is something else that is quite absent. What about the rights of those who went to Pocket D to pre-form the trials? When I lead 16 player BAFs, I advertise it exactly as such in broadcast. Everyone who joins the league has the expectation of potentially better end reward, better iexp distribution, a bit more challenge and perhaps in the process, more fun. And now because of 1 or 2 LFG queuers, the whole formula has to be tossed out of the window in order to appease their needs. Did I somehow inherit the role of a babysitter that has to coddle everyone in the league just because I have the star? So let's say if I do spread out the teams and as a result, the original 15 are dissatisfied since their expectations of better iexp distribution is no longer being met. Just who is the dick for wanting to put the league leader in such a no-win situation? That's not asking for fairness or equal rights, that's asking for preferential treatment.

Frankly, if LFG queuers want equal treatment, come to Pocket D like everyone else and I guarantee that they will get it, at least from me. I don't turn down invite requests unless the league is critically short on something. That is the reality of how "fairness" operates in CoX when it comes to grouping and there, I finally said the very thing that undoubtedly has already crossed the minds of some people in this thread.
    he, he,
And what does exactly Pocket D have to forming a BAF/Lamda? I admit its easier to form a League from there, but that's it. Here's the fact, if you have enough singleton toons in the Q, with each toon in a seperate zone, a trial will begin. Pocket D just happens to be an easy place for people to meet to form a Trial, a gathering point could just as easily be the Rikti War Zone or somewhere else, although I admit I personally like seeing traffic in Pocket D.

Even forming s league before hand is just to make things easier, you can start a trial if there is enough singleton's in the Q. Forming a league beforehand is just to make it easier to start one.

If anything, the devs should've used different terms, using terms like LFG or Trial, does tend to confuse things
  22. In PvP 1.0 and in the early days of PvP 2.0, Widows could do repectable damage, however when they did a serious nerf to elusivity they also did a major nerf to VEAT damage, one or the other was fine being nerfed, but nerfing both damage AND elusivity, really neutered the VEAT's. this isn't to say their totally horrible in PvP. Their still not harmless in PvP, but they did go from being in the same class as say a decent blaster/ stalker/ scrapper/ SR type to a support/ team build. With that said, given enough Inf, they can be made decent, but that can be said for any build. A stalker can be made decent much more easier for pvp, with a less investment in Inf.
  23. there is a joke here in a way,
back in the day Tech TV was mainly directed towards the computer software/ audience, and some of it was interesting even if you weren't a techie type. G4 was geared fowards the computer gamer market.
Now I'm sure there was more going on at the time, but here is the joke. While both channels were moderately successful at the time, Comcast decided to drop carriage of Tech TV (in a way not unlike how DirectTV is doing now for G4 if for other reasons), Tech TV's value went down, and Comcast ended up purchasing Tech TV, and then merging it with G4.
However even though they now had a monopoly on computer related channels, the combined Tech TV/ G4 Channel didn't work out too well ( in part to poor choices in programs, poor management, and what turned out to be distinct markets), they ended up droping the Tech TV content for the G4's, and then decided they needed to abandon that niche market, to compete with Spike by becoming the Cops/ Cheaters channel, which is when things really started to go down hill. In a way I view the DirectTV thing, as the Ghost of Tech TV striking back.
  24. the amazing part is by it causing travel suppression, its actually a more effective slow power than many powers with an actual slow componant( basically all of the click ones)
  25. On Video Game Addiction I'm mixed on.

On one hand it does exist to some degree

On the other hand, its really just a subset of larger behavior and not unique to Video Games or MMO's.

Sad fact is, some people are just prone to Addictive Behavior, it could be gambling, it could be MMO's, or it could be something entirelly. In some ways its really not all that different from Obsessive Compulsive behavior. The only difference today, is that people have more venues to channel this behavior in than they did say 100 yrs ago, which is why you see more incidence of it. If you search, you'll find stories of people getting addicted to the old style Arcade Video Games back in the day playing Pac Man. The thing is, it could've easily been WoW, EQ, or something else with this guy, rather than Lineage. Is it NcSoft's fault not really. If he was spending this much time on the game, really his friends and family should've intervened. Should a better system be established of recognizing and dealing with obssessive behavior be established sure.

Lets assume for a momment, NcSoft had decided to be the white knight here, and added some sort of timer that had limited the amount of time he could spend online, the fact is he would've found some way to work around it. If they sent an alert to the local mental health authorities if their records indicated he had played x number of hrs over y number of weeks, then we would get into privacy issues. Are the games addictive to those of us w/o obsessive compulsive problems? Given how fickle the MMO market is, strong evidence exists against that (in particular NcSoft, if they were able to make a game addictive, I'm sure they would've done it on TR)
