Alas, the time has come for me to retire from development and maintenance of Mids' Hero/Villain Designer.
It's sad to say, but I'm not able to give it the level of attention and time that I could in the past.
So, with that in mind, I've taken the difficult decision to pass it on to someone who can give it the level of commitment it needs, as I'd very much like it to remain available and useful as a resource for the CoX community.
Steiner at the Titan Network has agreed to take it on, and will be handling future updates and such. Though I'm sure I'll be checking up on him from time to time to keep him on the straight and narrow.
I'd like to thank the community as a whole for the support and positive feedback you've always given me, I've very much enjoyed my tenure as 'planner guy'.

Heya - I dont think we've ever chatted or anything but I use Mid's a lot with my final builds etc and I find it extremely helpful and I just want to say thank you! -
I spend most my time of defiant and love it! My main toons are (well any above lvl 10!)
Black Karhu - lvl 50 Fire/Fire/Fire tanker
Tired Angel - lvl 50 Grav/Storm/Fire 'troller
Apocalyptic Jester - lvl 42 Illusion/Force Field/Psi 'troller
Mind's Arrow - lvl 40 Mind/Trick Arrow 'troller
Psychic Whisper - lvl 32 Sonic/Psi blaster
Shadow Mercury - lvl 31 Dark/Dark scrapper
Tristar Phoenix - lvl 26 Peacebringer
Cold-Tech Angel - lvl 24 Ice/Device blaster
Shining Darkness - lvl 22 Dark/Dual Blade tanker
Karhu Junior - lvl 12 Fire/Trick Arrow 'troller
Jade Dragon Disciple - lvl 12 Plant/Kin 'troller
Dark Polar Karhu - lvl 11 Dark/Ice defender
Got a few others as well but they are below lvl 10 at the moment
Guess my fav is Black Karhu and Tired Angel. BK just kicks butt and TA has loads of tricks to keep playing him fun!
Possibly my least fav are Shadow Mercury as he became an endurance guzzler and I haven't got around to fixing him yet and Tristar Phoenix as I never got used to Peacebringers.
And all I do is play in my great SG 'GGRRR' who are slowly climbing up the top 10 of all the SGs on Defiant!
Gogo GGRRR! (website: www.ggrrr.tk) -
I think the only thing you can do is contact the Customer Support team via the PlayNC website, you could also include a screenshot of your account showing that you are due the Vet reward as well.

Boxed game? Would that mean I would have to leave the house to get it?
[/ QUOTE ]
Nah, it should be on Steam too since CoH is now. Or you can order it on Play.com or whatever and it'll come to you.
I can't remember the last time I actually bothered walking to a games store. They're so 90s.

They're very handy for killing time over my lunch break - although generally if I see something I want I will then go home and order it online for cheaper
if I just sit at my computer over lunch looking at amazon/play/GAME people seem to think its ok to still come as me stuff! -
Well Ive just managed to log in - looks like they are back up
-
Hey all
Some of you may have read my fellow super grouper Night Hornet's GGRRR SG comic (and if you haven't do! Go to www.ggrrr.tk).
Well I've been inspired to write my own comic based on my CoH character Black Karhu.
Have a read and let me know what you think
Chronicles of Karhu: Fighting Fate -
My second 50 and my first controller was a Grav/Storm and it is a great toon to play in my opinion.
I find Gravity a very easy set to just pick up and play. As people have already said you get some decent damage early on as well as a good single target hold (which also negates the knockback from the damage powers) and a good AoE hold power which is good for setting up containment.
If I am feeling lazy a very simple attack chain will get me through most encounters without a problem which is Crushing Field, Gravity Distortion, Lift, Propel - rinse and repeat. I then add in wormhole, freezing rain, lightening storm and my AoE epic damage power (currently completely undecided between psychic tornado, fireball and fissure) depending on the situation.
And as people have said Singularity is a nice little controller in a pocket which will do what its told! Resummon it against an AV to take some agro or just hide in it to protect yourself. I also find it helps when holding AVs as the sings hold power will stack with my own. -

So here's the idea for a game involving the MA, you play a certain mission and complete it, but unlike normal story arcs the contact refuses to tell you what it means forcing you to figure it out for yourself.
Ok, so a simplified runthrough,
1. I post mission and thread in forums.
2. Player completes mission, then posts information from mission in the form of glowie clues, boss clues, NPC text and mission complete clues to forums.
3. You guys attempt to make sense of the clues, I supply you with investigative resources and files to help you.
4. You decide on course of action, I post new mission about your choice, if you made the right choice then you get more clues, if you made the wrong choice then you either get no clues or conflicting ones.
5. Rinse and repeat until you find and arrest the culprit/s.
Would anyone be interested in attempting something like this?

This sounds like a lot of fun, but you would probably have to set some ground rules about how the next stage is decided etc otherwise it could become chaos and you have to create a million different ideas!
But it will be a brilliant way to introduce multi path arcs which I know the devs want to do but from what I read last time have difficulty with (I read it in an interview I think when the new Chim arcs where introduced - dont have link sorry).
And I dont think I ever knew anyone who didn't cheat at those adventure books! -

will work on a villian one as soon as i get a villian to 50!

And that all depends if he can stop badge hunting for 5mins -
Ive recently go my Mind/Trick Arrow to 30 and am finding it a lot of fun.
I will admit that it was bit slow at first but I think that was from the Trick Arrow part rather than the Mind part. My only problem is a lack of space for all the powers I want.
I currently respec'd out mass hypnosis and mesmerise in favour of total domination and lift. I have found from my play style that although mass hypnosis was good at first (I respec'd it out around lvl 20) now I have acid arrow and terrify the sleep gets knocked out so am not finding it as useful. Lift generally does more damage than Mes and is useful when facing psi resistant foes (although I might take it back once I have emp arrow/oil slick/fireball).
I am finding that this build is very much more single target holding, currently with 3 hold powers combined with haste I can easily keep powerful foes held without problem. However I can still deal with small groups single handed with total dom, terrify and now telekinesis. Although without them I can still deal with small groups easily without them, holding two folds, immobilising one and confusing a fourth.
And I have taken Stealth and Super Speed from the power pools I can sneak up to foes and just confuse them all without being noticed.
I am thinking I would like to try Mind with another secondary set at some point as currently I find my Mind/Trick Arrow works because of the synergy between the two sets -

Retake Cimerora
Tone down Romulus' HP and Damage a bit. Reasoning: So Romulus can become easier with unusual and slightly weaker ATs/powersets.

I probably haven't done the ITF as much as others but I will honestly say that sometimes I will be virtually screaming at my computer because Rommie just refuses to die and other times when he has dropped like a lead weight!
Sometimes I can't honestly tell what's going on that makes it work/doesn't work so I say leave it as it is. -
My second 50 was a Grav/Storm troller - they are great fun to play.
A good combo I love is apply AoE immob, then freezing rain - then pick off the badies with grav distortion, lift and propel.
Add in wormhole if you want before the Aoe to get them all in a corner! -

Leveling up to Security/Threat level 2 at a Trainer no longer automatically places Rest onto your power bar.
Just a minor annoyance that I've noticed has crept into the game sometime after i13 arrived.

I noticed this as well when I rolled two new alts over the DXP weekend, like you say only minor but did leave me thinking "Wheres my rest?? :S" -
I had some fun this weekend, had some good teams and not so good teams, and managed to get some of my mid 20 alts higher as they had been stuck for a while! Also started some new alts which are fun

Mind's Arrow, Mind/TA troller - 24-28

Was on a char over in kings row, and got invited to a team. Mission was in Eden. Click Mission Teleport, and bam instantly there, it felt so nice i think i actually peed myself a little. This power is awesome sauce

Erm - thanks for sharing that! lol -
GGRRR! I want this power (I swear, the game just wants me to run around from one end of a zone to another at the moment!) - but need to wait till payday (4 days and counting!)

I will generally put "No blind invites please" in all my toon search comment boxes for a few reasons. It is annoying having the box appear in the middle of the screen, espcially when I already have WW, recipes and Salvage all open when im buying selling.
It also gives me the oppurtunity to decline politely. Unless I accidently miss the tell I will always a respond with 'yes please' or a 'Not right now thanks - Im logging soon/Im doing some bits before I outlevel them/Im sorting some enhancements on my toon etc".
Sending tells also gives you the oppurtunity to get potential members. If someone is solo on a mission map they can't get team invites, but they can get tells. I know a few times I have just started a mission, and got a tell invite so I have exited and joined the team. Other times Im already half way through it but will happily join afterwards. -

Can't think of an in-game example of a mutant alien off the top of my head.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hydra are mutants, if I recall. Although they're extra-dimensional rather than extra-terrestrial.
[/ QUOTE ]
The very origin of the Carnival of Shadows is based on a mutant:
"but at the age of 15, Giovanna learned she was special"
But then the whole mask thing is magic based.
So really they have two origins.
Bit like my toon Mind's Arrow - he is listed as Science, but really has aspects of mutant and technology as well.
And Black Karhu is a science Bear Hero (Karhu being the Finnish for bear). He got his powers from experiments with bears -
Tired Angel lay outside the shop, trying to get back to his feet. He saw his wing, it looked a bit of a mess. He knew it would heal but it still hurt like hell!
He got to his knees and looked up seeing the thug that was shooting at him was now holding his machine gun to Angel's head.
"Hehehe, time to bag a cape" said the thug.
"I don't wear capes" Angel said getting angry.
His eyes started to glow a bright white and out of no where a the wind picked up and got stronger and stronger.
"Hehehe, gonna take more than that to move me!"
Angel's eyes flashed a brilliant white and the thug was suddenly propelled flying backwards. The thug flew into the ruined shop, hitting the back wall.
He got to his feet to join the fray and suddenly there was a bright flash and another hero appeared and ran into the shop shouting "Reggie!??!? Reggie??!?!"
Then a blast of electrical energy came from behind Angel and hit one of the bigger thugs that was towering over a woman with an explosion... -
Tired Angel was flying over Galazy City, part of the city he now called his home, looking down at the people live there lives. He knew he didn't belong yet knew he had to protect them.
During mid-philosphical thought he heard a loud crash from a few blocks away. He then saw PPD cars rush past with their siren's wailing. He instinctively stretched his wings and propelled himself towards the crash.
Arriving a few moments later he saw a gang of thugs entering the arena through a hole created by a truck. He saw one hero was already taking on the gang and as he approached to help he saw, what looked like a fireball, crash down taking out three thugs. He saw in the firey explosion that it was another hero. Angel's eyes automatically went to the truck - he knew that thing was going to blow if someone isn't careful so he used his power over gravity to pull it out of the front of the areana and out of harms way shouting 'Who taught this guy how to park!'
Suddenly he found himself under fire, one of the thugs weilding a submachine gun was shooting at him. Angel was hit in the wing which brought him crashing to the ground. He landed with a thud and he mumbled to himself saying 'I don't like this pain thing' -

I would like to suggest that some more hats have a bald option (or even a bald option for all hats) and allow cyborg/robot arms with jackets and tops.
Modified to include robot arms more generally rather than just cyborg
[/ QUOTE ]
I think it would also be nice if we could have some variety on the back of head tattoo option - so you could choose various tattoos rather than just the default one. -
My main controllers are:
*Tired Angel, lvl 44 Gravity/Storm/Psi
I love the combination of Gravity and Storm, so much fun to play. Ice rain and group immobilize is one of my fav combinations, even though its so simple
* Apocalyptic Jester, lvl 21 Illusion/Force Field
Im not a huge fan of playing support toons, but am finding this combo a lot of fun. Phantom Army is so cool and personal force field is a great "oops im over my head" button
* Mind's Arrow, lvl 19 Mind/Trick Arrow
Only getting started on this one but I am liking it. I find it hard to solo at times, in terms of low damage out put compared to my other two, but with multiple hold powers I managed to keep an EB held virtually all the time while soloing once. -
To be honest I think there is a lot of end game content to CoX - its just finding it. I know for me I never had even heard of the Shadow Shard until after I had gotten my first 50. Although the place is a pain in the behind the navigate with SJ I still find it a fascinating place to be and look forward to doing the TFs in there.
As people have said there is (and this is just my experience of Hero side):
* Grinding to get your build perfect (Purple IOs)
* The high end TFs (ITF, LGTF, STF, Shadow Shard TFs etc)
* PvP - which is getting a overhaul (whether this is good or bad I dont know) and the arena is getting new maps
* The high end mission Arcs (http://cityofheroes.wikia.com/wiki/H..._to_50_Content)
* Roleplay
* Orbourous (if you dont mind exemping)
* The soon to come Merits
* Unlocking the Vanguard bits in the RWZ
* The soon to come Multi-builds, creating a new concept for your toon and having a new playstyle
* Epic Archtypes
* Exploring Villainside
* Hami Raids
* Mothership Raids
* Badge hunting
* Altism - although its starting again, CoX has so many combinations of ATs and powers there is a world to explore there by itself.
Maybe there could be some more high end mission arcs and TFs which could be even harder than the current ones (although ITF on invincible is pretty hard in my opinion) but to be honest Im not sure what else they could add except more variation on hte purple IO sets.
EDIT - although thinking about it they could add some more large scale events (like Hami raids) which involve several teams.
