Sadly PvP has never been properly implemented in this game. Issue 13 brought about sweeping changes which PvP hasn't recovered from. Everything from travel suppression to heal degradation and the complete removal of all status protection has left most of the PvP areas completely deserted.
Mind you, PvP was no picnic pre-I13 either.
Dominators could permanently hold a character until death, leaving them completely detoggled and defensless. Blasters could pretty much one-or-two shot anything that moved. Stalkers could virtually insta-kill anyone without HP bonuses with a quick Assassin's Strike combo.
But you know, despite all of that, I'd still advocate going back to those rules because it made so much more sense than the existing ones and because they were actually more enjoyable. People actually went to PvP areas besides Recluse's Victory!
Ironic that the very changes they made to get more people INTO PvP were the very changes which drove so many people out. -
I think they should at least get off their lazy butts when there's a Rikti invasion. Seriously, how many people actually try levelling during those times anyway? I'll warrant it's not that many. Swap out dull old Miss Liberty the statue and put in Miss Liberty the HERO for the duration of the invasion and then swap it back to boring old miss statuette.
For heroes, those trainers are far from being very heroic... -
Rusty Robots
Hawaiian Surf Zombies
Mardi Gras Mercenaries
Naruto Ninjas
Ushanka wearing Soldiers
...and now for the more serious list
Sleeker Mastermind robots - in a variety of colours, so I can (finally) have Pink ones!
Raise the cap on Super Speed - so it's more super speedy!
Aerial acrobatics when using Fly
SG Logos on capes!
Create your own Nemesis/Archvillain system - speaks for itself.
A speed-based combat set (and no, im not just talking about Flurry).
Oh, and some more base customisations like windows so it doesn't look like our base is a hidden in a dirty hole deep underground would be nice. -
I'll post a link to the picture, since it's quite large. It's a screen grab of the page I keep getting taken using Print Screen. I've had this error countless times and I would really like to know whats going on with it.
http://i990.photobucket.com/albums/a...H/BadInput.jpg
You'll notice that the link is from PlayNC.com and has it's own "Bad Input" URL. Whatever it is that the forum hates about my posts, I'd at least like to know what to avoid in future. -
Im finding it really hard to use the forums because I seem to get this message a LOT. Worse still, as I tend to use the Quick Reply a lot I instantly lose my entire message when I go back to the original page.
I really have no idea what the cause could be, as it seems completely random. Chances are that any post you see of mine has been edited countless times and reposted before it was finally accepted. So please, can someone take a closer look at this bug and find out what's causing all of my headaches?
Surely im not the only one who's noticed it? -
Easier said than done if everyone you try to invite says "no thanks" or doesn't reply. Seems to happen villain side more times than I could possibly count on Union server (EU). And a happy team is a team which WORKS. It's no good inviting everyone who asks if the resulting team just faceplants in every combat situation.
I've had rotten luck trying to get teams in City of Villains for either my mastermind or stalker, so after months of having to solo the majority of my XP, I've all but given up trying. Trouble is that villain AT's are more designed for holding their own than for group play. There are some powersets which are more team based (such as kins, pain domi's) but most are still very soloish. In contrast, hero AT's are very team-centric meaning you're more likely to find teams as they'll always be in need of a tank or defender etc. -
It's not over until they announce mastermind pets as fully customisable. The days of pink robots looms ever closer, even if they don't realise it yet...!

Bug: Unable to log in. Well, to put it more succinctly, I can log in up to the screen where it welcomes me and attempts to redirect. However, upon redirection I find I am not logged in after all and have to reinput all my data. I'm currently using Internet Explorer to view this site.
O/S: As above

Bug: "Bad input" error recieved after some posts. My last one had no real formatting of any kind and none of the annoying characters that should have been a problem, yet still I received this page. I am willing to PM a copy of the troublesome post to any mods who wish it. -
Never liked rep systems, and I don't plan to change that thought anytime soon.
-
This forum is EVIL... I can barely post anything because anything I type is responded to with a "Bad Input" message. I can't even find what's wrong with my post, because I've looked at the suggestions and none of them fit the bill.
And before you ask, while yes the post was indeed longer than this one it wasn't nearly as long as some of the other posts I've already seen. -
I miss a lot about the old forum, to be blunt. Firstly, it was MUCH faster to load. Either there's far heavier traffic on this site or all the pretty pictures are chewing up my bandwidth (and it's no slouch either).
Another thing is the quick reply. On the old forums it was just there, always available. Now I have to manually click an icon just to activate it. A minor gripe but still a little bugbear of mine.
I also find rating systems abhorrent. On virtually every forum I've visited with a rating system, I find a lot of people who are so concerned with their ratings that they refuse to post comments which people might object to for fear of losing their precious scores. Tends to lead to one-sided conversations, with few people playing the devil's advocate. A part, I daresay, im well versed in.
I'm sure I'll get used to the new forum and all its quirks (like where to find everything -- it was a shot in the dark finding the general discussion forum!) but im still in the uncomfortable early stage right now, so don't mind me if I seem like a little lost lamb. -
#1 Flight
#2 Super Strength
#3 Invulnerability
Sound like someone you know? I confess I grew up on the DC heroes, so I've always loved the Supes. Despite the Supergirl movie having the worst imaginable plot, somehow it didn't stop me from loving it (I own it on DVD and I regret nothing). That doesn't necessarily mean that DC Online is going to steal me away from CoX, but I've always wanted to play a game where you really get the feeling you're an indestructible hero.
I might not get the opportunity to be Supergirl in CoH, but it's come close enough to the experience I wanted that it's kept me here for 2 years so far. -
By enhancement slot I presume you mean a new slot which can be added to your powers? I can't say I wouldn't appreciate the ability to get more slots somehow, but there could be some balance issues that need addressing.
Still, this definetly gets my vote if only because im 2 slots short of some very strong IO sets on certain powers I chose late in my career. -
Aww, he's so cute. Cute doesn't sit well with villains so its definetly a little hero in the making there
Congratulations on the little bundle of joy. -
I might have been disappointed if this wasn't the best news my Mastermind has heard since she summoned her first bot! Well, sure im hankering for Going Rogue (which CoX player isn't, I mean if they were being honest with themselves) but the ability to customise our attacks is something a lot of people, including myself, have been wanting for a while.
Now onwards to those cute pink mastermind robots that I've seen in my electric dreams... -
Mine would have to be Alacrity Burst. A martial arts + super reflexes scrapper. I've painstakingly earned rare recpies for her, done as best I could to maximise her top speed (both travel speed and recharge) and the results speak for themselves.
Still not quite as good as I'd like though, and wholly useless in PvP thanks to the unfortunate defense nerfs. But for PvE, she's one of my favourites. -
Only one badge makes me go "Wow" and that's the Field Crafter accolade. You need to have memorized a TON of recipes to learn it, which involves crafting dozens of different invention origin enhancements at all kinds of level ranges. I'm (slowly) working towards this lofty achievement. The novelty of having a mobile crafting station might be useful on occasion, but just having achieved this goal would make me feel like a billion influence
-
About the closest I've had to a CoH dream is dreams of flying. But I've had those since I was a little girl anyway, so I can't really blame City of Heroes for my love of taking to the skies

I'm not sure how you could customize Martial Arts powers - but Regen has possibilities - I'd love to remove that retarded chest beating animation for Integration
[/ QUOTE ]
I think if you could customise Martial Arts, the first thing most players would pick is the one with the quickest animation time. You'd hit like the Fist of the North Star. Im not a fan of the chest beating animation myself either. Since my characters are female it just seems a little too Tarzan-esque for the ladies.
There are a few power customisations I'd love:
- Coloured (pink) mastermind robots!
- Invincibility powerset auras
- Storm Summoning (white just isn't EVIL enough for my MM!)
- Super Speed animation (Something more subdued)
- Empathy (A pale blue would suit my Thunderspark better)
Power customisation sounds like a HUGE task though, so I don't expect it to be added anytime soon, even if they are working on it. But it would make the world seem that much more diverse if everyone had their own unique powers. -

Added a note to pieces of the Soulbound Allegiance IO set that will warn the player that slotting this enhancement into a pet power that summons a pet that is lower than level 50 will result in the pet not benefiting from the effects of the enhancement.
[/ QUOTE ]
Errm... does this mean it's rendered virtually useless for masterminds then? All of our pets are generally lower level to ourselves aside from one -- our lvl 32 power. As much as I love my Assault Bot and Lich, a set like this would be better served on Battle Drones or Zombie Hordes.
This is the first I've heard of this little issue and im ever so slightly miffed since I've been slotting them into Battle Drones -
Something along the same lines, I'd like to see a "Hero" option added along with the Archvillain. Seems odd to make an arc involving some kind of superhero when it displays them as being archvillains instead.
-
I like the way everyone's leapt at the power customisation idea, even though it wasn't specified. They did say they were working on more customisation options, but they didn't say what you'd be able to customise. It could be that extra customisation options just means more costume options and base customisations.
Still, wild speculation is always fun. Personally, I'd love to be able to (finally) customise my pet robots for Little Jenny. As much as I love my botsies, having them look the same as everyone else's makes my mastermind feel just a little less special. -
Considering a lot of my toons rely on defense, which was heavily nerfed after realising they had actually made it useful during I13, I can't dodge anything and im usually the one BEING farmed.
I don't see your 'average' player getting much chance at obtaining these. The majority of PvP fights are won by players loaded up on purple IO sets and these very enhancements anyway. The strong get stronger and the gap widens... -

Edit: And yes PRAF it really has, well certainly taught me to go over things with something more than "I smash gud" mentality through missions, now I actually pay a hell of a lot more attention to mission dialogue, clues, pacing...
Needless to say most early CoH vanilla content would be 3 star MA arc at best
[/ QUOTE ]I only wish more players weren't so forgiving. Most of the parties I've had invites for (MA-wise) have been running missions which are usually hastily cobbled together with an extremely thin storyline purely to the effect of farming.
Still, the number of farmers has died down considerably, so it's reinstated my interest in the game somewhat. For a moment there I was starting to lose hope.
That said, it's still hard to find good storylines with all these, for want of a better word, rubbish arcs taking up the majority of the search results. The diamonds in the rough are getting harder to spot by the day as players release more and more arcs.
Anyway, totally off-topic, but... what is that location they used for the backdrop on the update page? I thought I recognised it, but nope... it's gone.

My favourite enemies? Why, the Circle of Thorns of course!
I love them because they're challenging, unlike many other enemy groups. They hit you with strong attacks, mezzes and have those annoying spectres which have good resistance against many attacks and go invisible on you.
I also love them because of their backstory. I guess I've always had an attraction to anything magical and mystic and the idea of a secret underground world (Oranbega) ticks all the boxes for a mysterious yet potent force.
They're also great because they're available at virtually any level, so you never miss out on an opportunity to squash some druids!
