Quote:Some kind of awesome happened right here... and I have no words to describe it properly.Yes, so in the future, when posters are quoting you asking what the heck "3em2qwj3f3wwq47rs;" means, we'll link them to this post to remind them KitsuneKnight got his eyes gouged out by Statesman's suggestive theme.
I can assure you that my "suggestive themes" are not involved though. But now that I said that, they surely will be thanks to some poster after I hit [Submit Reply]. -
Quote:What's funny about this, is that the actual law has no bearing on this conversation whatsoever. What matters is that specific parts of the EULA.. the rules we as players need to follow, state that we can't make costumes or use names that infringe on copyright, or other intellectual property. And, like a large and unsurprising number of people in this thread, obviously has a less than useless understanding of copyright and intellectual property laws and, more importantly, their nebulous and extremely subjective enforcement.
Some folks need to do a bit of genuine study before opening their mouths. Not holding my breath on that, honestly.
So, the law is moot... we have to go by whatever Paragon Studios defines as "infringement." So, it's not about the law at all, it's about the rules we all agree to when we log in... EVERY time.
And if you argue that the EULA is wrong, or is asking us to do something contrary to the law, that's tangent to the point, actually. Because, unless you say no to the EULA, and don't play and then lodge a legal complaint to get it changed to follow whatever law it isn't, you have still agreed to follow the rules of the game. That would be like a guy walking into a casino and ignoring the rules of the house for whatever game he is playing because he used to play it a different way over in Sri Lanka, that don't fly.
I have no idea what this is supposed to mean. -

Quote:I think we are working under two different definitions of the word I underlined. Mako -IS- anthropomorphed. He is a humanized shark. That is what that word means, literally: to morph (change) to be human-like. It does not mean, to make it into something with as human a face as possible that totally needs hair and ears. That's why I find anthropomorphic representations of animals more appealing than straight ports of photo-realistic animals. [...] It's also why I feel shark heads can't work unless they're anthropomorphised.
Quote:You're right, a lot of those sharks look like dogs, some more than others. But that's less because someone drew them as dogs and more an artefact of what happens when you rearrange a shark head to conform to a human head layout [...]
Quote:I don't ever expect to see anthropomorphic sharks in City of Heroes.
Quote:It's been eight years and we've not had a single anthropomorphic feature done with the right balance.
Quote:I really feel that a head with a large mouth full of triangle teeth just by itself would be a good substitute for a shark head. -
I think it is almost guaranteed that you will get that wish... more options, and new sets that is.

Quote:I hate to say this... but there are two words I need to say to this: adapt, move. That is all.You do realize why melee characters hate KB right? Because it takes the things they are trying to kill and pushes it further from them. It the gives them a head start if they decide to run. Yes I hate KB on MY toons. As long as my teammates are considerate with theirs, it doesn't bother me. However, there is little in the game more frustrating than having a group around me that I need to use energy drain on, only to see them scattered by a teammate's KB power before I have a chance to use the power. That is why there are people who dislike KB.
-
It's optional... yes. Until it isn't. I think what has McNum mad is the idea that there is already friction against folks with knockback powers... and the mere fact that this IO exists may convince some that it is required, and kick folks who don't have it slotted on their PBs, etc.
-
I can't seem to find a recorded version of this... can I get a link?
-
I don't care how they do it... but I want to fight Praetorian Hamidon! No question about it!
-
Am I the only one who thinks there shouldn't be an IO that converts KB to KD?
[Edit: I see by the above... that I am not. Though it seems fervor is well above what I have going on.] -
I was more than a little surprised when the name Decimal was available. Also Corridor. Both are such normal words that can easily have some sort of super-heroic connotation... But, I like having them, so I won't complain that they were available!
-
Oh look... a shark man! And it looks awesome!! Why can't we have that in-game? Heh, we do.
Don't mess with what ain't broken and give players parts similar to what we already have. -

I really think that [Time Bomb] should grant an additional power when you pick it [Remote Detonator]. You might also implement Sam's idea here by allowing you to toss the bomb, and not have to place it where you are. At any rate, when you place a Time Bomb, Remote Detonator gets an orange ring a la Dual Blades, and when you click the power... it explodes the bomb, and not until. If there HAS to be a time delay, it would be the time between tossing the bomb, and the activation of the orange ring and the ability to explodinate.

While I am unsure about your actual suggestion, I do feel that folks really need to stop ripping off characters and parading around as if nothing is up. I casually mentioned to a dude dressed in red and yellow armor named Iron-Dude or something similar that he might be breaking a rule with his character. He lol-ed at me and starting spamming me with mindless chat thereafter and generally making it clear that he was like 11, so I left him alone... someone else can report him.
Quote:No, he is suggesting that people who are bound and determined to not follow the rules get a ban to hopefully teach them a lesson AND prevent folks who might comment from getting a tirade. So, your suggestion is to guarantee that a player of the game is lost because that player *might* upset another and cause them to leave.

I would imagine that first thing is more important, and the rest of his post is somewhat in the throes of anger at being cussed out for nothing. Though I could be wrong. -

Pretty sure I will roll up a Spines/Bio Armor character... perhaps a Mace/Radiation Armor (per the Summit). I probably won't touch Nature Affinity since it looks pretty healing focused... and I will prolly re-roll my fish-person character from Archery/Ice to Water Blast/???. Maybe still Ice as a secondary, not sure.

A good idea to "Fix" Force Fields would be to make liberal usage of the new Absorb mechanic. It makes a good deal of sense thematically for the set already.
-
If a feature like this were to be included, it shouldn't be the default, but an option, perhaps a little checkbox that says: "Only Show Servers in Use" or something that would eliminate ALL servers from the list that don't currently have any of your characters on them.
Also, I had no idea what a "char server" was when I read the Subject line. I assumed you were posting some sort of bug in the wrong section at first. -
I don't like to use a phrase like "thinking outside the box" but this is it, for sure! (Even a bit of irony there considering the powerset.)
Love the idea, though I do agree that visuals could be an issue. But, considering the people at Paragon, I am not worried that they could turn a good idea into something even better.
Why wasn't this the set used in the Create a Powerset Panel? (Not that I don't think Radiation Armor is cool.) -
Nega-Pendragon is essentially this but in all black with an aura, IIRC. Chimera has nothing new in terms of costuming, nor does Black Swan.
I put in a bug report early in the Beta asking for a new costume for Chimera... -

Good idea, VK! Good way to un-nicherize this set and make it something kinda cool and applicable to a far wider range of concepts!
Quote:So... you are claiming the existence of a bevy of Bird Blast enthusiasts are out there? Or did the definition of "niche" suddenly change?I agree. The idea of a bunch of angry birds out for revenge? In a video game? Preposterous!
'Cause what you are saying has zero to do with what I said. -

Perhaps you should learn the mechanics before you claim they aren't working? Nothing has changed with Perception/Stealth for a long time. You must have been on a Stalker or something because the powers you discuss have never been able to avoid a GM's perception.
Oh, and perception is not impacted by level difference. However enemies that con Grey to you won't aggro to you for unrelated reasons. GMs haven't had levels per se for a good while either.
