Tbh I'd view at as a form of cheating, because you have a head start before the people who don't play on test. And why should those people get accolades.

Would now be a good time to point out that he only said that "it can and should stand on its own", not that it actually will?
Just because he believes that it should be an issue of itself, doesn't mean that the rest of the team has agreed with that and that it is what I14 will solely consist of.

Well...
Posi is the main guy, so he makes the final verdict. If that IS the final verdict, then the game is going straight down the toilet. -

2000 Prestige = 2 pillboxes in RV = 5 minutes work per month to pay the rent
[/ QUOTE ]
You might find that aint so quick in i13
[/ QUOTE ]
Becaused the NERFED people will be coming for you, hunting you down, until they find you and kill you! WRAGGGGHHHHHHH!
Back on topic, my SG base is quite big and has lots of storage items, so this may become a problem, but rent before was never a problem so I guess not, at least theres one positive change coming to bases along with the repricing (what am I supposted to do with all my useless base salvage!?)
[/ QUOTE ]
thats what gg was pointing out its 100prestige per storage bin and your stuck with a max of 18 bins or so, so your rent is never going to be more than 2k as aposed to the curent system
also remember that this is not based on plot size either so you can have a huge base and still a very small rent
[/ QUOTE ]
Bah, rent is going to be so cheap now, they may as well take it out.
What about a "insurance" system...pay this, you get your items replaced with new ones if theyre destroyed in a base raid! But only until they become popular again
[ QUOTE ]
Base salvage can be converted into invention salvage using a worktable. Depending on how much base salvage you bung in you can get random common, uncommon or rare salvage in return.
We've been stocking up hoping for a few platinum drops
[/ QUOTE ]
Don't get your hopes up...since it's 3, it's only a 33.3% chance that youll get rare and the one you want.
The devs need to rethink the base salvage changing to invention salvage system. I believe I am not the only one who thinks it should be removed.

The devs need to look at a new approach for issues,
[/ QUOTE ]
I agree with that opinion, not so much because of Champions or DC Online, but because the latest issue that excited me was Issue 10. Issues 11 and 12 were nice, but there was no oomph to them, no sparks flying. Issue 13 is the same, and Issue 14 ... The mission architecth is all well and good; it's a big step forward gamewise and all that -- but it's just a piece of infrastructure arriving a long time after it was announced. With that as an issue by its own there's not going to be any sparks flying off Issue 14 either.
The work the developers are turning out now is, technically speaking, better than it used to be. It's high quality, it's tight, it's shiny. But it's a jazz performance with subdued applause rather than a raucous rock show. Where's the spectacle, the energy?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes. Let's overlook the issue from my perspective.
Issue 11: Ouroboros lost its touch after a while, Dual Blades was novel but quickly wasn't that good compared to other sets. Willpower was also good, but still other powersets were better. It also was a bit boring tbh.
Issue 12: Midnighter Club got done and over with after a while, Cimerora was simply talk to him/her repeat all these missions and do a TF. VEATs were sexy at first and then just lost ooze..it soon became very bland feeling EATs.
And Issue 13...just generally the same feeling, Day Jobs...how many times will you even notice this. Multi Builds, it will only be orintated for the expereniced player to dab with but then you find you have to Enhance it again, also waiting 15 mins to change isn't that friendly. Shields looks amazing, but feels weak in reality. Pain Domination, rubbish naming, and copy/paste of Empathy. Levelling Pact - only useful for duos. PvP changes frankly suck, oh and Merit Rewards very very dissapointed at the arrangment of the system.
I14 really needs to show something more intresting and unique, MA itself is never going to be enough, Posi is only brave enough to say that on the intawebz/ -
[ QUOTE ]
PRAF, tell him!
You'd have to dig around in the posts the devs made prior to the Invention release issue. And why are there pre-50 IOs... have you actually bothered looking at the values they give?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, and it's not too bright. It still has a effect though.
Also, PRAF isn't here, so you're on your own for now.
Invention System is also a case of FARM FOR IT!!! and that just is pratically farming at level 50. So in reality terms it can't really be called the 50 progressing, since you already enhance your stats, which could be done with enhancements before level 50. -
Finally, proof that there is a drop. Time for the devs to take a look and THINK. The devs need to pull out their finger quickly if numbers are going to rise.
-

Thing is...
Inventions are the Over 50 Charater Progression System.

o.O
quarter of a mile !? hahahahahah ... no no no, my idea was something about, what, 5 yd? 6? 10 yd for a 50 livI've never though about the possibility to stretch a character for half Atlas city hahahaha
My idea was something like (grafically) martial art + spines + plant control more or less
[/ QUOTE ]
MA, Spines and Plant have abseoutly nothing to do with stretching. MA is kicking, punching and whatnot, Spines are...spines and Plant is using the power of plants. I can't see any similarity to stretching, sorry. -
Skimmed over this but you still have to remember 50s are only one part of the playerbase. As long as it doesn't take up too much dev time, it shouldn't hurt.
Or maybe it will...not everything good on paper is good in reality. Tbh if it comes out it will be in the love it or hate it bag, the FOR people will say "it makes those old 50s fresh again" and AGAINST people will say "50s are too small part of the playerbase and it will consume too much dev time" but IMHO I wouldn't mind it, maybe use it for one of my 50s but I wouldn't like to see too much dev time on it.
So, /half-signed. There's good points and bad points, but at the end of the day its "love it or hate it"... -

when i found this thread, the first thing i was thinking of was HOM(hall of monument), something GW has.
it's just a room that has all your achievements and shows special things you did, like trophies for finishing a chapter.
i think that if COX has this, we could show our badges.
have a place where we can display our favorite costumes and use that to save them for later use, and a place where we can show our veteran rewards.
this is character based and you can only show it when you have the star, but it might be a fun thing to have.
[/ QUOTE ]
Don't show for badges and veteran rewards. Badges mean nothing but something shiny, and veteran rewards mean nothing if that player has only PLed his way to 50 all the time.
Calling "PL dude" or "badge dude" a legend would be so very wrong. -

I think the issue here is down to one thing, regardless of the fact that there have - in the past - been issues that pertained to one area of the game alone the simple fact remains, this game, as I said earlier, is made of a wide player base so even though people like myself are excited about i14 and the content it brings there must be however something no matter how minute, to appease the other player aspects.
Now I know that there will never be full satisfaction across the board regarding issues/content etc...there never is but to focus on one area and assuming everyone will love it seems a little short sighted.
As I stated I for one am excited and will make full use of the issue but I do feel for those who do not wish to and will have to wait for another 3-6 months for something to look forwards to...
[/ QUOTE ]
Tbh I agree with you except last point waiting 3-6 months, no issue will come 3 months anymore, as more superhero MMOs are being realased more the issues need to get bigger and better and the usual 3 month issue idea is gone now. From now on it seems to be 6 months...that's why all the doom threads are here, the content is getting stale and the people are leaving.
The devs need to look at a new approach for issues, the game is going to take a sharp blow to the face when CO and DCUO comes out, and we don't know if CoX is going to survive it. Besides, most MMOs die out at this point anyway. (4.5+ years) -
Posi, please, please put some other stuff in I14. I'm going to love MA if it's what they say it, but they need to put some other stuff in. Not everyone RPs; in fact, that's only a small percentage - This is a MMORPG but that doesn't mean you have to RP. In fact, most of us don't.
And finally, Posi admits that PvP is broken beyond fixing. Maybe if they took down the entire PvP system and redesigned it we wouldn't have this problem! Buffing/nerfing the powersets won't make PvP great, there's a genuine problem with PvP in it's system, yet the devs seemingly are ignoring it. -

I guess you've already read what Posi has said about this:
<<Bases:
Weve made some changes to the way players deal with bases. Overall things got a lot less expensive, Prestige-wise, in bases. This means that smaller SGs should be able to accomplish more with their bases now. If your SG wants to take advantage of the new, lower, prices, youre going to have to do a little work in selling the older items, and buying the new, lower priced items. Its an unfortunate artifact of the way the base system was designed that we cant just refund your SG the difference straight away. Weve also eliminated the need for Base Salvage. Now everything in bases can be built with Invention Salvage. You will even be able to convert all that extra Base Salvage into Invention Salvage to help get rid of the extraneous items your SG has probably accumulated. This change will help smaller SGs build cooler stuff faster, as well as give large SGs a benefit for all their hard work so far. Dont worry, the storage containers in bases will now be able to hold a small amount of Invention Salvage as well now.>>
or the Patch Notes already posted by Palladium:
<<Bases
All Supergroup Base room prices and Prestige costs have been rebalanced.
Removed all base salvage from base item recipes. Base Salvage should only be needed in recipes that convert base salvage to invention salvage.
Base raiding is currently being redesigned, and will be in that state for some time. For the duration, all base raiding, including instant raids, will be disabled.
Added Teleporter Beacon for Pocket D.
Added SG badge to access Pocket D beacon.
Robo-Surgery can be attached to the Basic Reclaimator
Sprit Signal can be attached to Resurrection Rings
Base Salvage racks can now hold a limited amount of invention salvage.
Removed all raiding related restrictions on placing items in a base. Specifically, items may now intersect and or completely block door to door paths or door to item paths.
This change will allow much greater freedom in placing objects in your base.
When raids are enabled again, players will be able to choose whether their base will abide by the new raiding-related restrictions.>>
[/ QUOTE ]
Theres a few nice things in that, what stuns me is the one single thing that has caused more arguments than anything else EVER in sg's/bases (permissions/salvage theft) STILL cant be addressed.
In fact, now they managed to [censored] it up a bit more.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well youve got to admit what can they do, tbh to create a "limited amount of items to take" is a bad idea cos you might have permission to take it. Logically theres not much you can do about that. Besides, it's not really the biggest issue, CoP seems to be. And they still havent addressed that. Maybe it wasnt popular cos it was PvP, so just redesign it like a SG TF. That would really put a smile on my face.
Good base love, but still not enough. -

Next day after Avenue's phone call, the mobile rang.
"This is 911-Careers. We were informed yesterday that you wanted to sign up for the Shield Police? Well, just confirm your department again, name, address and phone number and once that's done we will send someone over in a few days...do it after the beep sounds...have a nice day...BEEP!" The woman's voice was heard saying.
"Shield Police, Marcus Avenue, 28 Skillstate Place, Skyway City, Paragon City, 5667 321 9478.", Avenue stated before hanging up and switching off the mobile.
Now it's time to just wait for them... -

Back on topic, I'd love to see this, if Statues for Heroes like GG can be put up, then there should be no problem looking at Hero's costume and implemeting it. Just that it wont be instant, the devs will need to design each and every one of those statues. Unless its just a pre-registered costume with a plaque with there name. But anyway, /signed...

[u]Silence Minions![u] - As you can see, my little ones are loyal to their deaths!
... that and the cheques already in the post to Claudius.
Seriously though, I thoroughly second Ramon Daark's suggestion of the SG statues... (just wondering how they could work regarding the system modelling your toon? - taking their que from the costume creator?).
I wouldn't want to see player statues in zones, we already have enough huge statues in-game.
(But the sentiment is appreciated Claudius - thankyou.)
One thing I would love to see is a Wall of Rememberance with an Eternal Flame somewhere in a newly remodelled Atlas Park or Galaxy City - for all those CoX players who have died. The last passing I remember being Mighty Saguaro, but there have been quite a few others (apparently it is quite common). It would be a fitting tribute to all who have contributed to the success of the game to have their names displayed in a roster when clicking on the Wall of Rememberance.
Example 1
Example 2
Example 3
Example 4
[/ QUOTE ]
I would love to see something like that as well Mumsie - perhaps like the statue outside Kings Row Train Station. The plaque simplym says, "Never forgotten" and their name. It shows that we still remember all those faithful and loyal players for what they done.
Great idea. -

We should use the standard officer costume sets available, so we're all similar looking. On top of that, supergroup mode can keep us synchronized in colour. Here are three popular designs I've seen on test.
Stationed Officer
Street Officer
Active Officer
Special Weapons

Avenue, otherwise known as Dark Sun, took a glance at the television. He took out his mobile, and dialed the number on the ad.
"This is 911-Careers. Which career would you like to sign up to?" the woman on the mobile stated.
"The Shield Police. And I don't need any training...I've already got it." Avenue replied.
"OK, we'll just inform the orginazer of the Shield Police. We'll call you back. Have a nice day!" the woman said kindly, and the conversation ended.
Avenue put down the phone, and turned over to Fox. -

Well, stretching is handled by the current engine - you can stretch your legs at the Icon, and see them extend, plus, in the actual avatar creator, you can expand you entire body several feet, so stretching is possible in some form with the tech we have now, but I'm not sure how that would be used in the actual game.
Also, weclome to the forums
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, but not stretching in the form we want here. Also, that's just controlling how the body can be used on the engine, you can stretch and make your character taller in Icon/Facemaker/Char Creator but we want a stretching power, not a stretching of the body in that form. tl;dr, stretching the body and stretching as a power are not the same. -
Lots and lots of stories and creative writing went through in October, but my vote has to go to...
Nitochi - Learning to Love Yourself
Just a very enjoyable read, out of all the stories this month, this is the one I enjoyed the most. -
Congrats!
Now, GR, go put the next one up! -
[ QUOTE ]
well ... First of all I believe the stretching is not a specific power, in comics you can found very different quality of this power (Mr Fantastic, Skin, Morph or also the DC's Plasticman). I suppose that the worst problem on a power of this kind is the prepossession for grasp melee attack ...
How shoud it work ?
well I suppose it can work similar to Martial art with a stretching-character graphic: a "long" punch, a "hammer" hit, a smash defense, a whirling attack, a knockdown area attack, a smash and lethal defense, a loop attack, an extreme clash attack and a bind attack ...
I don't know in real I've never though about write it with all its rules but I can try if you tell me that it can be possible in game ...
[/ QUOTE ]
Unfortunately, the graphics engine for CoX can't handle that kinda animations. A "stretchy" animation would be almost impossible, go any farther than that then it is not feasable.
Of course this is just my knowledge of the engine and I may be wrong. -
