Hi everyone. I don't post, well, ever, but it's hard not to make an exception in this case.
I first started playing this game right before I4. I was 12 (19 now). I remember trying it at a cousin's house and all I could think about for months after that was getting a computer so I could play this game. Somehow it just hit all the right chords for me. Believe me, I'll miss this game as much as anyone.
But wasn't it great?
I hate it that it's coming to an end right in the middle of what someone aptly described as a renaissance. I hate it that it's so sudden. I hate it that COH might be getting the ax not for its own failings but because of corporate maneuvering.
But wasn't it great?
You guys remember getting hover? And joining up with your first SG? And the Hollows? And knowing you didn't have to go the the Hollows ever, ever again? And taking jump kick and flurry? Your first 50? Getting a cape? All those hours in the costume creator for a character you never played past level 5?
Yeah, this was a great game.
My heart especially goes out to Paragon Studios and to a lesser extent to the CoH alumni over at Cryptic. For what it's worth, as someone who still holds foolishly and fervently to the dream of working in the game industry one day, I'll always look at City of Heroes as a brilliant example of what a game should be. It was truly unique and innovative from day 1 and stayed that way for 8 YEARS. That is incredible.
I know everyone is in mourning right now, but just because the ride's ending suddenly let's not forget what a great ride it was. We had 8 years. That's longer than most MMOs. I wish this game could have continued for 8 more years, but all good things right? So here's a great development team, a one of a kind community, and the world's first and best superhero MMO. I'll miss you, but thanks for all the memories and fun I had! -
If they lowered the time it takes to shift forms and made it so that toggles stayed on while shapeshifted, I would be one happy WS. I don't think the toggles should actually work while shifted. I just don't want to have to retoggle them when I shift back to human.

I've had this idea in my head for awhile now. It started as a backstory for my Warshade years ago, and I just recently started thinking of writing an MA arc about it. While I was researching the lore behind it on paragonwiki, it kinda became a theory on 'The Coming Storm.' It seems to me to fit in with what we already know, but I'd love to hear what you guys think especially if you really know the COX cannon well. If anyone wants I will be glad to list the arcs I'm taking information from.
***BIG SPOILERS****
Without going into too much detail, my Warshade's story involved an alternate dimension version of the character I got to 50 to unlock the HEATs. In this dimension, there had been a second Council and 5th Column war. The Council won and the Center decided to purge the Nictus from the ranks. I don't think this idea is exactly crazy:
**The 5th have been making a comeback for the last few issues.
**Requiem, a Nictus, hates the Center for taking over the 5th and making him a mere lackey.
**The Kheldian arcs state there's a strong anti-Nictus faction within the Council.
This next part is just slightly crazier
After the war, Requiem's forces would no doubt be weakened. He would have lost access to Mekmen, Vampyri, and regular soldiers, but would still have access to the Nictus derived troops: Warwolves, Galaxy, and possibly the Void Hunters. Still, Requiem would probably need to seek an alliance just to survive, but who would ally with them? The Rikti Military Faction. The alliance would be golden.
**The Lost possibly being used for hosts for the Nictus.
**Sharing scientific knowledge. Especially in the realm of portals and transportation. The Nictus could possibly improve their Shadow Cysts, and the Rikti could establish a stronger portal to their homeworld.
**The life-extending benefits of the Kheldian bond would likely interest the Rikti as it may keep their organs from atrophying from overuse, and they likely wouldn't need to fear being taken over by the Nictus. If the Rikti's mental abilities are any measure, they could easily muster the willpower needed to oust a Nictus.
And now we've entered tinfoil hat territory.
Since this is a conspiracy theory, Nemesis, of course, has to be behind everything. How? Well, we know he started the Rikti War which brought their military to earth. He's also running Ouroboros and during the Mender Lazarus TF you are sent to ensure the victory of the Council against the 5th Column. This leads directly to the sequel war we're already beginning to see between the two factions.
I haven't exactly worked out why he would want to create this alliance. Maybe simply to weaken our and possibly the Rikti's defenses? A Nictus-Rikti alliance would wreak a lot of havok, and it wouldn't be difficult for Nemesis to destroy them once he was done with them
**The Rikti are already in Civil War with the majority being opposed to the Military faction.
**We already know the Kheldians are destroyed in the future because of Twilight's Son.
What do you guys think? Clear as mud? Did I miss something that debunks my theory? Am I crazy? -
My review of "Blinded by the Light"
I liked the arc, but I think I needs a lot more polish. I saw a decent about of spelling errors so I suggest you go back and proofread the whole arc. Here's what I found before I quit keeping track:
Description
*"LIight"
Mission 1
*Busy Text: "Not only does Europe counting"
*Entrance: "what the smell it"
*Objective: "X out of X peices of Light Tech"
*Recovered Professor Light: "Thank's again"
*Rescuing Professor Light: It's Sieg Heil not "Zig Hail" according to Google.
Other Suggestions
*Professor Light's description could be better. Why is he so important?
*Why not change to the Time Monitor into an Ouroboros Mender and tie the arc into the game's lore? Or is he already?
*I'll be honest here: I couldn't finish the arc. The Mind Witch pwned my 28 fire/fire tank even when I was popping purples. She's got exotic mez and loads of psy damage. It'd be nice if she was toned down or changed entirely so the arc would be a little easier to solo.
*The third mission is timed even though I'm supposed to be time traveling? It didn't make any sense to me.
On the positive side:
*Haupsturmfuhrer was a fun villain. I like how his powers changed in the second mission. It made a lot of sense that he wouldn't be able to call in any mercs if he just escaped prison.
*The costumes of the custom characters were awesome especially Professor Light's.
*I loved how the second mission jumped straight to the fight with Haupsturmfuhrer
*The story kept me interested.
Like I said, I think the arc was pretty good overall, but it could be great with a little polish. I hope that helps! My global is @FlamingFlea if I can be of anymore help.
As for my arc:
Superjuice! - Brought to you by the Crey Corporation!
*Arc ID: 433692
* Description: Hoping to capitalize on the defenselessness a mere mortal can feel in this super powered city, Crey has developed a serum which the company promises will endow anyone with a variety of super powers, but when they send a gang ridden area samples of the serum, side effects may occur. [LBMA] -
I have a Fire/Fire Tank I'd love to bring to this if there's a spot. The name's Candlelite Vigilante.
-
I just got back after about a year's hiatus, and the altitus has already set it. I figured I'd make a tank since I don't have one at a high level. My basic goal for this build was to make a fire/fire more survivable while not spending a ridiculous amount of inf. I was aiming for the whole thing to cost about 100-200 mil but I have more if I need it. I concentrated on getting +HP and +regen, but ended up with 11% defense to s/l/eng/neg with CJ to boot.

I would love to have something of my DB/WP scrapper Morally Grey. I probably wouldn't play him if I didn't like his costume so much.

Here's his in game description: [ QUOTE ]
Outside of what has been observed by witnesses, little is known about Morally Grey. He has shown very little restraint when apprehending criminals, causing injuries that often prove fatal if left untreated. While many argue with his methods, few can question the results. Since Morally Grey has become active, the gang-ridden areas he usually patrols have become virtually crime-free.

I heard that they are having a party, and 'They' are the pizza men from Pizza Hut, Dominos, and Papa John's. They decided to order from all of them to avoid a super-powered brawl over which was better. -

Thanks again Statesman for destroying Fire Controllers.
Recharge times and how long effects last has to be one of your best nerfs yet.
Nice having 3 Imps when I had 9+ before. I can't even fight minions now without being slaughtered. My holds don't even last long enough to kill anything.
[/ QUOTE ] What lvl minions? If there not purple then you may to rethink your build and/or playstyle. -
Now with a Former CoH member working on it Linage might turn out to be as good a CoH...well okay not that good but still really good
