    FM/SD Critique

    This is what I just came up with....sure it could stand a tweak here and there, but it's softcapped and over 2k HP, with decent +Rech, and no Maneuvers. I would go for the Spiritual Radial Boost with this to fill the cap in +Reg in Health and for the +Rech to keep Hasten/AD up well over 100% ED.

    Feedback is welcome! I may respec my budget Fire/SD at some point.

  2. Win 7 Pro - 64 Bit here..........no issues! Much more stable for me than it was on the same rig that used to run XP Pro SP3.

  5. This is what I'm planning on giving a go....I contemplated skipping out on Fitness (with i19 around the corner) but leveling it this far relying on Domination + DP to fill the blue bar....gets rough.

    Open to any/all suggestions. Looking for something that making grinding drops/tickets a little more fun then the scatter caused by my Spines/Fire Scrapper.

  8. Those same reasons are why Fiery Aura is my favorite set in the game...It can be made amazingly tough with clever slotting. Add a 675HP Heal on a 13 second recharge to 35% Smash/Lethal or Melee Def and you've got an amazing combo...Burn is pure win, and Consume's new buffed Energy Drain Res component (+Recovery) makes that gap much smaller.

    ...The only issue is Psi damage, which is pretty common end-game....but that's what insps are for anyway.

    I have a 50 Spines/Fire Scrap, 50 Elec/Fire Scrap (Burn > Shield Charge), 36 Fire/EM Tank, 50 Fire/SS Tank and 27 Claws/Fire Scrap.

    I need to make a broot....suggestions anyone?

    AR Blaster

    AR is fast becoming one of my favorite AoE sets...I don't know how I've missed this gem for so long. The love affair started with a AR/Ice Blaster ( Ice Patch + Ignite = ) ....I enjoyed that toon so much I'm working on a TA/AR Defender now for AoE Debuffs/Dmg.

    I just made a AR/Rad Corr on Champ that has early promise as well...we'll see!

    I'm pretty sure you don't lose set bonuses from Purples or PVP IO's, no matter your exemp. level...IIRC. I think he's saying has has those two purple sets by said level, and he'll have that +30% Acc / +20% Rech then too.

    I went with a Grav/Elec Dom (quirky, right?) so far...fun! And for another change of pace, he's an Emp/Son Def.

    Two different AT's all-together, but it's working out fairly well so far. I will be leveling my Plant/Storm with his Earth/Sonic down the road. Thanks for all the suggestions!

    A SG mate and I have decided to run through the lvl 20-50 content again and we're looking for 2 controller combos that would really mesh well and provide good support for each other, as well as acceptable damage. I already have 2 Fire/Kins (different servers), an Earth/Rad Troller and Rad/Son Def...so no Fire/Rads for me, I'm afraid. He also has a Rad/Rad Def and Fire/Kin...just trying to avoid any repeat of our 50's.

    So...suggestions? I've tried a Fire/Thermal but deleted it at 38...I have a Mind/Thermal at 36 now, Plant/Storm at 32, Illu/Emp at 50, Earth/Rad at 50, Fire/Kin at 50.

    Open to any Dom suggestions as well!

  16. I finally got my DualPistols/EnergyManipulation toon (Second.Chance) up to 50, and now I'm looking at getting my favorite AoE ever up once every 30ish seconds. I'll be relying on AidSelf and a luck now and then to save my bacon, but hopefully the "kill them first and they can't hurt you" outlook will prove true. Any suggestions or improvements before I respec and start slotting?

    I played the Psi/Dev on an alt account last night (lvl 35) and it was pretty freaking awesome. I enjoyed having 4 powerful attacks (vs the 3 I've been using with Fire/Sonic).

    I'm trying out a handful of different combos b/c I know how expensive those PvP IO's are, and I don't want to invest that much time or influence into something that's sub-optimal.

    Edit: I'd also like to have something that is able to scale down decently for Sirens Call, but that's proving difficult with the availability of lvl 30-33 recipes/enhances. Do Purples and PvP IO's not lose their set bonuses when exemp'd?

    I enjoy fire/dev in rv; web nades, caltrops and snow storm and dot attacks with high perception against bad stalkers works well.

    You'd probably get more mileage in more places out of /em though. Boost range and power boosted screech, with aim and bu instead of bu.
    I had a Fire/Dev up to 36 and deleted the toon, but I had tons of fun with him in SC while he was leveling...in fact he's the reason I've gotten into PvP. However, my slots are low on Freedom (as in only 2 left) so I wanted to turn my Fire/MM into something that I could at least have some fun with in RV..since I already had him at 50 anyway (and done the Fire blast thing).

    I respec'd the toon tonight and finished the build I posted up top, and wow it's fun. Veng is up often enough to make a big difference in my survivability, and when it's up things are pretty outrageous. Hibernate and HoarFrost helped out immensely as well. The bursty damage really makes me glad I stuck with this toon instead, and I can DS off NPC's when endu is an issue. I also didn't know the range was so much better on the immob (vs web nade).

    I created the Son/Dev a days ago and he just hit level 32 tonight. I'm putting some lvl 35 common IO's on him and hopefully he'll be even more fun than the Fire/Dev, and still give me a usable PvE avenue for doing some fun things with the the cone sleep + Devices secondary in missions.

    That being said, does anyone have a cheap-ish (sub 800m) build that they would mind sharing for Son/Dev? How important are the things like Aegis: Psi Status Res and Impervious Skin: +Mez Res on these builds? Are the Unbounded Leap Stealth IO's and Winters Gift slow's worth it? The Son/Dev I was thinking about trying is up top in the first post.

    I've recently started to play around in PvP a little and wanted to know which of these combos would work most effectively on a small-ish (under 800m) budget?

    The Son/Dev seems to be better at PvE stuff (so I'd prefer to invest more in that toon since I could have Pve and PvP fun) but if Psi is that much better then...well...let me know.

    I'd suggest focusing upon developing smooth ST and AoE attack chains. Pick up just about every power in both of your Primary and Secondary, and find out which powers you like using. Respec at a later point to keep your favourites and drop the rest.

    I would recommend Flares, Fire Blast and Subdual all properly slotted - you can still use all three attacks when mezzed and that's really handy if you're without any break-frees.

Fire Ball and Psychic Scream are great AoE; Fire Breath or Rain of Fire make for a good third option, depending on your play-style. Fire Breath is probably better if you can use it well.     Blaze is the lynchpin of your ST attack chain, supported nicely by Flares and Fire Blast, or one of the MM melee attacks if you're in more of a Blapper mode.

    The most easily skippable powers are: Blazing Blot, Scare and the melee attacks. World of Confusion is frequently chosen as a set mule rather than a genuinely-useful power; its end cost is too high for too little mitigation even with the Proc.

    You'll need Stamina. Fire/ is Endurance hungry, and you'll probably want to slot some endred in your attacks as you develop.

    There's really no "best" for a Fire/MM. For example, some people slot Drain Psyche for +Recovery and can walk away from the devastating Inferno nuke without any downtime. More people seem to favour the crashless Psychic Shockwave, but plenty of people pick up both.

    The DP +Recovery trick rarely worked for me in practice, and despite Inferno's fantastic damage, I eventually dropped it because the crash ruined my overall DPS.

    My Fire/MM changed radically on her final build, when I gave her the S/L softcap, enough Recharge to keep my chains perfectly smooth, and enough Endurance to never need to stop the carnage. I also slotted Drain Psyche for +Regen which, added to the S/L softcap, keeps her survivability extremely high.
    Agree with a lot of this, save for skipping on WoC. It only costs .13 end/sec *unslotted* and with Drain Psyche endurance should never be an issue on any */Mental toon. Even if you can't afford the cheap purples for this (Coercive Persuasions) the other cheap confuse sets (Malaise's Illusions) offer easy Global Rech increases and other goodies. The Confuse does kick in more from my experience with the proc in the purple set, however.

    Also, as said above, slot DS for +Regen (don't bother with Endurance at all). You'll be at +Recovery cap with just a few foes, and even with just 1 target for DS your endu should be over 3.5end/sec giving you lots of fuel for your fire.

For me personally, I'm popping whatever I get (in the way of insps) and doing either LR or SC + FireBall + TS + CI....and dragging any barely not-dead stragglers to the next mob for a repeat....and so forth. Works great that way, and for my play-style. I preferred having extra melee attacks finishing harder single targets (bosses) rather than having Hasten, since I forgot about it so often in the first place.

    My pre BOTZ-nerf build didn't have JL (and it had hasten), but I've actually been more pleased with the build since I dropped hasten and picked up another cone, that has good ST dmg too.

    Edit: The 50ish% +Rech (plus FF's random proc) in the build is just fine when you alternate LR and SC. One or the other is up every 16-18s avg like that. It would be slow going if I wasted both of them on each mob, and had to wait for for both to come back.

    Yeah the Psi Res makes a big difference for me later in the game, with Carnie, Rikti & all the Portal AV's with Psi mobs. The integrated KB prot is pretty great too (compared to fire which has no Psi protection or KB help) but the biggest sell is having unlimited endurance after lvl 35. That's always a huge focus for me with most builds getting my endurance consumption/recovery under control...and it usually leads to some compromise in slotting. The free auto +20 rech from Lightning Reflexes is just icing on the cake.

    I'm surprised more people don't go with ELA on scraps, to be honest.
