Fire/MM softcap - how not to gimp?

Been poking around on MIDS trying to figure out how to soft-cap my Fire/MM. Unfortunately, the solution I've got so far feels a bit gimp. Can anyone offer a better solution? Thx!

Here's a build with Rain of Fire, just 2.5% less Rech than Sant's. Hope you get some good ideas from it. You might want a little Acc in your Drain Psyche btw, but purples are giving you a nice bonus so can understand why you didn't.

Thanks guys. Goal is really to make my Fire/MM more solo friendly. right now he's totally purpled up and slotted for max recharge, but I find he can't handle solo mish very well at big mob #s ... too many mezzes and incoming damage ...

I was hoping by capping him to S/L I could make him more solo friendly.

I think I need to get San's build to accept Rain of Fire, since there is the APP immobilize now. I know the purple confuse set has great bonuses ... I have it currently slotted, actually. But ROF + immob sounds too good ...

Thanks San. That's pretty cool. Do you think it's worth slotting up Flares like that, esp with Apocalypse? Would it be better to swap out Flares (take Fire Blast first) and try to fit in WoC later (with purples)?

Or alternatively -- Fire Blast, Subdual, Mind Probe (hard hitting melee, slot Hecatomb), Fire Ball.

Here is a staminaless build with 113.8% recharge and capped S/L. I added the Scorpion PPP for the AoE Immob and Shield.

I dropped Fire breath because i live in melee range but if you wanted to AoE Immob/RoF/Fire Breath from a distance then run in and DP/Fireball/PSW you can drop the Spiderlings and play with the slotting.

You can squeeze 118.8% global recharge out of this build by using Efficacy Adapter in Drain Psyche but it really isnt worth it. That set doesnt ED cap recharge and doesn't add any regen to the power, i prefer frankenslotting that power to get the most out of it. Whether you slot it for mostly regen or end mod, having both is nice. I like end mod for beating the nuke crash with the fewest targets possible. Now ask yourself this.....Can you live without stamina???

Why would you slot Apocalypse in Blaze? Flairs recharges faster making it better suited for the Apocalypse proc. They both have the exact cast time so I still don't see why Blaze is better suited for the Apocalypse set.

Sweet build Donna, i remember sending you a PM last week to show me what you did with your Fire/MM, i guess you just sleep the mob then DP and commit arson. In any case i think most of these builds would work

That's peculiar. I'd think with the usual Blaze > Flares > Blast > Flares chain you'd use Flares more often. However, if you're thinking of generic missions where you're filling the gaps between the AoEs with Blaze you might be right, but I'd still put it in Flares. Mostly because the proc's added DPS is more useful against single tough targets rather than finishing off low HP critters.

With a high enough recharge, you should be using the Blaze>Flares>FireBlast chain, which does more DPS. It uses Blaze more often than the "usual" chain you posted and just as often as Flares. Apoc goes in Blaze because of the enhancement numbers (5 apocs* + a Devastation quad)

This is what I came up with, it has less global recharge but alot more recharge enhancements slotted in the key powers, which is what really counts.

It also has capped hitpoints and alot more regeneration.

dude there is no way to softcap on a blaster

@Silverado, nice ideas in your build (like WOC with dmg IOs) - thanks.

I see you and some other folks keep skipping Inferno -- with a lot of global recharge it appears to be up every 100 seconds or so, and often Drain Psyche can let you avoid the crash. Why skip it?

I like your ST chain and may reslot Blaze etc. for that.

I'm not sure on the specifics, but I can run it seamlessly on my Blaster with 75% global recharge and 96% recharge slotted on Blaze (with Hasten up)

Because you don't really need it, you already have enough AoE. That, and I don't like retoggling every minute

The problem that I have with this build is that there isn't Fire Blast or Inferno. Fire Blast is key to a blasters survival when they're mezzed, Inferno I love, but it is skippable of if you have to but with DP you should be able to keep running after you nuke. Also I'm not sure if having more passive regeneration is good considering you already get a metric ton of it with DP, it seems a little redundant doesn't it? Wouldn't you be better off taking those slots and putting them else where?
