When JMS's current track record includes the Spider-man retcon of Gwen having a relationship with Norman and then having babies that just happened to be speed aged to the same age as Peter. Also, creating the Spider totem idea, but not being willing to expand on it to it's most absurd extreme, other than hint at the supposed connections.
Yeah... I'm more than a little wary about this. -
Quote:I realize that the underlying Lantern idea is that it's super duper science, but it's just about as magic as the Force is.
But while Blackest Night was mostly technological, Chaos War is magic. -
Quote:What amused me was talking to one of the supposed haters, that went to see the Phantom Menace 8 times. Seriously? Wow, that's a lot of hate. Because I know if I absolutely hated something seeing it 8 times is exactly the sort of reaction I would have. :PFor all the griping that we do about Lucas and how we think he has wrecked Star Wars, many of us are also protesting too much. The instant a new Star Wars film is scheduled for the theatres, is the instant the vast majority of the fans will rush to get tickets despite any misgivings they may have or ill feelings about things they didn't like about the prequels.
There are somethings I don't like about the prequels, yes. There are a few minor complaints I have about Indy 4, yes. (the fridge nuke is NOT one of them given all the other near death escapes he shouldn't have made).
But I don't have the level of rancor that so many other fans have expressed on the internet. I expected fun movies that I felt were worthy of the franchise, NOT mega blockbusters like when the franchises first started.
I wonder if maybe it was the seventh or eighth viewing that finally put him over the top. Because at that point, I had only seen it maybe 4 or 5 times in the theater and thought it was okay, barring Jar Jar and Anakin moments of Yippee and piloting a starfighter and that overly long Pod racing sequence.
Heck, I could understand seeing something 2, maybe 3 times, as you might get dragged to it by multiple groups of friends, but you'd think at 4 you'd be dead set against going anywhere near that theater. I would have asked him why he kept going back, but was content to believe that he probably really loved the film and just wanted to save face in front of his other friends. -

Quote:Getting to 41 isn't really a big deal, any idiot monkey can hit 50. All it takes is time and persistence. Besides, didn't you already get that pat on the head for hitting 40 with an extra costume slot?Yeah because gods forbid there be any REWARD for getting a character leveled up to 41 or higher.
EPPs and PPPs add options, and limited survivability for squishy types, to a character. Wouldn't it be better for more characters to have more options, and survivability, sooner rather than later?
I don't know what the ideal level earlier the EPP and PPP would be, but I do know that more options sooner would spread the wealth. As it is, the EPP system was designed around the +10 levels that they added when they went from 40 to 50. We're well past that point now.
It was an arbitrary line before the advent of respec recipes and Mids and every other fiddly thing we have. We can have travel powers at level 6, for those with the Vet badge. Next inherent fitness?
Is this really that bad an idea? -
Might as well post my weapon idea here.
Is it possible to apply the Resistance glow from their armor bits to weapons? So that you could basically have an Axe/Mace/Sword/Bow/Claws (heck, why not Pistols and Assault Rifles?) made out of that "glowy" material? You could make the entire weapon into that luminous material, or limit the glow to the striking/cutting/shooting portion.
It might even cut down the "I want an energy weapon at level 1" folks, if it was just a reskin of some/most of the pre-existing weapons. -
I'm surprised that the internet isn't more savvy to this sort of will he won't he with another sequel series.
Quote:Considering that this hasn't stopped Lucas from "destroying" elements of the EU with The Clone Wars series, I kind of doubt that the EU really matters to him.Him setting it that far in the future works for me. Lucas hopefully realized that he couldn't make direct sequels after Return of the Jedi without completely destroying the novel series that have been written up about post-Endor stuff for the last 20 odd years. -
Quote:I know I saw one lvl 50 Dual pistols within hours of it being released. So, it seems like there must still be some gaps in the AE. I was too busy playing new characters to loiter around Atlas when Electric Control and Kinetic Melee went live, so no idea if the same happened when GR went live. But I wouldn't be terribly surprised. Now we all remember the "I made it from level 1 to 50" AE babies from when this first hit and they bragged about doing so in hours. I'm sure it would take longer now BUT the question was CAN a character go all the way to 50 without every training... I don't see why not using this method. And never even have to leave the first zone they arrive in while doing it.
-
The other day, when I hit 5 I made a beeline, from Galaxy, to Freitag, and was given the radio, as well as able to pick up a radio mission, all before training.

Quote:I thought it was a "flesh" colored tone. Which really messes with pure white skinned flesh tones and any of the lighter colors on tights with skin for females. There's a brown tinge to all the textures that doesn't tint very well with all colours. Almost all other textures are saved as greyscale. I'm not sure why this was done, but I suspect it's to avoid naked characters, as absurd as that might sound all things considered.
*edit*
As an idle point of fact, I'm pretty sure I could write a small programme to parse through a costume file and check if the skin colour doesn't repeat anywhere in the rest of the file. Standard Code Rant obviously applies as who the hell am I to say this, but I keep thinking that a validity check would be a far superior solution to the problem of nakedness than essentially nuking your own costume creator. -
Quote:I fully blame my laziness for my need/want for the power pool. So, as an inherent, yay. But, I'm with the article writer as to it being not terribly interesting.Fitness becoming Inherent is lackluster. I rarely selected any powers from the pool (since there is rarely a need), and all the other stuff in Issue 19 is orders of magnitude more interesting than the yawn-fest of some unjustifiably popular power pool being granted to all characters.

See the chest piece that matches the Tech Banded belt that these Hero Corps Field Analysts have? That would be pretty neat and it would complete the set with the belt. Granted, it might need to be a new piece, but it's been in-game forever.

I know, dull, but simple.
Knives of Artemis are just chock full of bits and bobs I'd like to see for characters.
Crey Paragon Protector costume patterns. http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/File:Par...ctorClaws1.jpg http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/File:Par...r_Elite_01.jpg
Yeah, we can get kinda close to them now, but the actual pattern would be nice. -
While I agree, hopefully they'll be able to push forward, as the comic series has been a little too focused on the original Batman's rogues gallery.

Interesting, but thread title is a little misleading as this is not by John Woo.

It occurs to me that both Fiery Assault and Icy Assault have elemental swords in them, wonder if we'll see the "no swords" camp appeased there, or if the alternate animations are just for the blast type powers in the set. I'd bet on it just being for the blasts, but you never know.

Quote:Protest and Syndicate Showdown could be like the Troll rave in Skyway. Granted, no Supatrolls spawning, but maybe if you beatdown enough Syndicate the Boss turns up?I wonder if the zone events are ramped up Public Quests from WAR, Open Missions (is that what they're called?) from Champions Online or Rift encounters from.. Rift: Planes of Telara. I hope so. I rather like stuff like that.
Great Escape? Hmmm, Paladin on the run in Kings Row seems like the most similar content, wonder how they'll do it though, seeing as you can be on opposing sides of the issue at hand. -
Quote:Looks like Incarnates break time.Wow, looks like Ouroboros is going to get a real tackle. Suppose this means we'll finally find out who the Letter Writer is!
I assume it's going to be it's own lvl 50 only Ouroborous area, that or we're all in for a big change.
Also, is that picture of three heroes standing in front of the giant disk statue in Kings Row? Uh oh, looks like even Blue Steel couldn't keep that thing safe. -
Quote:Whoa, that's fast, I thought we'd have to wait an issue or two before seeing this come out.
Alternate Power Animations
Now players can customize the animation for some characters' powers. Shoot a Psychic Blast or even launch a Fire Breath from your character's hands. Hurl an attack from one or both hands. Select the animations and customize how a character fires off its powers at any Tailor. -
Quote:If I had to guess, clipping? Probably just with shields, but that seems like it's a bit over the top for just clipping with one defense set.Oh god yes. I will actually kill if it gets me those 'large robotic' scale PPD gloves. They would work wonders for the costume re-working I was doing on the Chief, and let me drop the old 'tech huge' gloves.
If theres any reasoning behind not giving us those, I'd just love to hear it...

Quote:Here's the thing with leaks like this: When they accidentally slip through, they don't always cover every character type. But, as the mod upthread noted, it'll be available eventually.Okay, I have gone through a bundle of characters now and while I do find Snow in the auras, there is no sign of fireflies anywhere.
I have Fiery.
I have Flies.
Fireflies should be in between, but isn't. And with the inability to actually set fire to the flies, I'm pretty much stuffed.
Anyone else missing either one? -
Quote:If they were really against big, we wouldn't have gotten the Omega gloves. And an artist that's not actually against it, which (believe it or not) is my primary concern. The one thing I am more afraid of than anything else is that the City of Heroes art team in general is simply against this, and that they view the big legacy pieces as just that - Legacy pieces they are obligated to keep in the game, but which they would not want to make more of.
Believe me, Jay's Enforcer set was amazing at the time, but it was pretty much the last big set we got. Everything else has been small and skintight, pretty much. OK, aside from the PPD boots. But where are the PPD gloves with the large shields? Those are the ones I wanted to use, but I can't... -
