This can be a huge suit of high-tech armor, a magical suit of armor, even a skin-tight costume with some sort of armor plating weave. It doesn't have to be Iron Man esque.
I like my ideas better. Sorry. It might be a little CO-ish but it's a good idea. It is quite cool in CO so go with what works. Most of that game is like this one so we can 'borrow' some ideas

I'd also love to see a the our version of a 'create your own arch-villain' system. So cool!

  4. At 40 000?? That is what this massively.com writer estimates.
    http://www.massively.com/page/2/

This is kinda disturbing news. I thought we were just under 100 000. That is a rapid decrease in population. Yikes!
  5. I hope they come out with a power armor set but make it offense with a bit of defence.

    Some weapons would include:
-Missile barrage (pick your emanation point) and fire off like they do from the Arachnos Flyer.
-Mini-gun: Possibly mounted on your shoulder...would move up and auto fire.
-Massive hand held gun (like some of the 5th use). Just a nasty assault item.
-Smart bombs (mini drones that orbit you and attack the enemy - yes, much like PBs).
-The OP had some good ideas too...seems like it is very possible with the current engine.
-Lots of other options and seeing how Iron Man is in vogue lately...why not

I thought BrandX had some good points. It is different than most of the game (other than the Nazis that are in it). I think that's part of the appeal.

TFs that are just the same old maps/enemies that are connected by a weak story really stink - sadly, that's a lot of what we have.

If this game is to survive they are going to have to make some pretty interesting additions. The same old maps/enemies with varied text will not cut it.

Fair enough. I just would love to see the data on which ones get played most. My money is on the ITF.

I think the recipe for future TF/SFs has to be similar to the ITF - all original maps; new enemy groups, new areas/worlds/environments. I see lots of players wanting space zones, water zones etc. Do we need more zones? I don't think so! I think we have too many! Solution? Have maps in TFs that are water, space, etc.

You noted your fave as LRSF. I do like that one but I give it lower marks because we have seen the map environments before (over and over), for the most part.
  8. Ok, so, I think a lot of people would agree this game's best TF/SF is the ITF. It is done over and over and I have done it a ton. Then on the other hand, the original TFs kinda suck bad (well Posi got a fix but Synapse and some Shard stuff....*shudder*).

Anyway, since GR is almost here and when it's launched there will be lots of Devs. Why not have a small Dev team focus on TFs/SFs only and launch them separately from issues. This team could make high end TFs/SFs every 4 months or so. Make them unique maps and really epic - space maps, underwater, moon bases etc etc. Instead of new zones, make unique maps for these.

Also, you can use all unique factions/groups as it could be a mini-story apart from directly connecting to the mainstream canon. It will allow the story to branch out a lot.

Just my 2 cents in hope we have some higher end stuff to do cuz...well...things are getting stale...
  9. May I offer this summary of the entire tour.

Devs on the panel, don't provide any new info or direction then tell us big things are in store for the future of this game...BUT...they can't tell us anything because marketing won't let them. Did I miss anything?
  10. I think a lot is riding on GR. I also think this is a legit question.

IMO GR will disappoint. It seems like it is a lot more of what we already have. From the signature characters to the 'alternate versions' of factions/enemies etc. I bet the mission type will be the same with a lot of the same, OLD crummy maps used again and again.

I don't think these devs quite get it but c'est la vie. I am waiting for the GR release and then decide if I jump ship or not.
  11. 1) I just want new maps. I hope all future content involves new map sets. Nothing would disappoint me more than going into the new zone and doing missions that have the old warehouse, caves, offices etc maps. It would almost make me cry!

    2) I really hope future TFs/SFs are the calibre of the ITF. New maps, factions and a fresh look. There's a reason that TF is probably done more than any other. The old TFs are weak and some just plain suck. Good job on the Posi makeover.

    3) No more power prolif. Just make new powers. Something like a munitions set (kinda like CHAMPIONS ONLINE power armour). Gatling gun, shoulder guns/cannons, missiles etc.

    4) Our own version of the CO Nemesis system would be cool

Ok, so I don't think any of this is happening with GR but maybe soon after. Sadly, GR seems like it is going to be a bit of shiny new and a lot of the same old. I see those underground creatures look like the zombies we have now with ankle and wrist bracers. Ugh. Make something NEW and FRESH!

    Whoops!

Hint: With the new difficulty settings, you are NOT guaranteed a place on a team. For some players, you're merely a pity filler who actually slows them down and reduces their earnings. For others, you're still not needed as they can reduce the difficulty until they feel comfortable soloing.

As such, you have to make a concerted, ACTUAL effort to get on or form a team.

Also, right now the latest issue just dropped.

A lot of people ARE teamed. They're off destroying their framerates with Ultra Mode and 8-man Demon Summoning Mastermind teams. They're badging. They're running some of the new arcs.

Instead of being the 3,291,737,573rd person to date to gripe about it, expend a little effort. If stuff is handed to you, you don't appreciate it.

Nope. Sorry pal. This game's population is low lately. If the OP has been gone since maybe last summer then he will have noticed a change in pop.

As far as I have seen, Virtue has been the only server that hit medium load (since i17 drop).

So, yes, there are fewer players and it's a bit concerning but the game is still fun. I can still easily find teams but the game is not as busy as it was not too long ago.

Why? Well, IMO, it has stagnated with not too many new things to do and long gaps between updates. Based on the recent updates and direction, I don't know if Going Rogue will add too many players but c'est la vie. It's a game and it's still fun. Enjoy it while you can
  13. Mike Holmgren said Walt was the best offensive player he has ever coached. High praise when you consider he coached Joe Montana, Favre, Young etc.

  16. I don't get why they don't just SUB questions via the boards. Ah well.

I really don't see much point to these. DEVS tell us they can't tell us much cuz the morons in marketing put a disclosure ban on them. Then we are told things are coming SOON (TM) which seems to be about a year. Then we are told these things coming up are going to be big and they most certainly are not (Mission Architect).

I really don't think the DEVS add what the players want. Why don't the DEVS do their normal thing for each issue then leave one aspect of the next issue to a vote. Have a vote card appear once for each player logging on into the game and have them pick out of 3 options. Anyway, I digress, I hope this Q&A results in some actual A. It gets tiring hearing the same old replies.
  17. I don't mind in-game ads at all if there were turning a good profit for the game. The billboards etc are already there so why not. Seems silly not to.

I hope the staff maybe let's on vote a bit on future content? Is that in the cards?
  18. I am hoping they really re-do most of the older TFs. They just suck. I know Posi gets a new look. Synapse has to be next. That one is beyond the suck and the worst TF, IMO.

The old contacts also do need some attention but may not need to be a priority. Some TFs are fun but a lot of the old hero side ones are just weak. They didn't do much better with Khan either.
  19. I like the AE system but they have devoted way too much time and effort into it. I joined this game just after i11. It was a long wait until i12. At that time we were promised something "big" which turned out to be AE. It is not something big; I do love using it but it is abused far too much. I really don't care for this game's canon so I make all my own stuff in my missions.

The funny thing is, i13 was a huge disappointment (Day Jobs...really?). Day Jobs are fine and all but we needed something more after waiting so long for a decent update. I14 took forever and a day to land. Was it worth it? I don't know. Based on it's use these days...I would say no. I cannot get anyone into doing these missions and when I do there is non-stop complaining (XP sucks, this is too hard etc etc).

So, what can the DEVS do in the future? How about maybe listen to the players a bit and poll them regarding what future content they would like to see. Just a thought. Since I joined CoX, the issue I liked most was i12. It gave us a new TF with all new maps and zone. The ITF isn't too time consuming and fun (this should be the model for any future TFs/SFs). VEATS are a lot of fun too. All in all, my fave issue since I have been here.

So, AE the worst release? Naw. Just poorly implemented and consumes too many resources.

Oh, my only other fear is GR and future issues will be as repetitive as most of what we have been given lately. Give us things to do. The ITF is a great example. New powers are cool but it's a new toy for the same old missions - a band-aid cure for the problem.

Anyway, I hope War Witch can breathe some new life into this game
  20. Cool beans on the new info. I am really hoping there is more to GR. If this is it then...well... color me disappointed.

I was hoping someone would ask if the mission maps would be new. Also if there were any new game systems going to be added that are different from what we have.

    Dopplegangers sound really interesting.
  21. Some cool potential with GR but they did not discuss if the mission mechanics are going to be the same or if we are getting a new wrinkle to the whole mission deal. What would just kill GR, and this game IMO, would be getting these new missions/arcs and having them in the same old office/cave etc maps that we have see over and over and over and over. That would be enough to make me puke (and it takes a lot to make me PUKE!).

Anyway, the info is way too vague right now to make a judgment call.
  22. Nice post but there are a lot of confounding factors out there in regards to your comments (which you do acknowledge so good on ya).

Anyway, I was wondering if you had sub. numbers as well? To me, that is also very important. It looks like we're at an all time low and it feels like a low in population.

Also, I don't see GR making a huge impact on player numbers. CoV came out when this game was all new and the systems were cool and exciting. However, that was 6 years ago and then CoV came out 18 mos. later. Since then the game system itself has been similar (contact, instanced mission, same maps, same enemies - for the most part). This game has failed to really evolve and makes it tough for vet players to want to continue.

I am sure I will check out GR but unless they have added to game mechanics and play, I can't see many returning vets sticking around.
  23. The HUGE gap between updates! I think i16 was in Sept and i17 is supposed to be in April?! Are you kidding me?! Didn't we have enough of this crap last year?! I thought issues were supposed to be every 4 mos, not every 8 months! Brutal! What makes it worse is the last slew of issues didn't give us much to do. Not shocking to see why so many people left the game. I don't know when this will stop. The Devs even said it would be approx. 4 months between issues. I can understand some delay etc for GR but this is too much.

Most maps I can almost run with my eyes closed at this point.

Travel power suppression. I HATE this mechanic. HATE. IT.

Related to the last item, rooting while activating powers. I'd love to see this pretty much done away with, with the exception of a few powers (e.g., snipes, Tier 9 powers, etc.).
This is a big issue with me as well.

Also, many of the TFs and some SFs are of poor, poor quality. Just mind numbing to run and very dull. If they were not required for accolades, etc., I don't think I would do them very often. Any additional ones need to be ITF quality.

The 'content' itself - not too much superhero type stuff gets added. Many of the signature supers are dull and not too exciting. They look lame. Also the constant different versions of the same signature people. I mean really...give it a rest. If you guys tried to sell this as a comic book today, it wouldn't do too well. When I used to read comics there would be some grand story lines and big missions. Why not add some cosmic super adventure? The enemy factions in CoX are not very exciting (there are some but this game does not make me think supers/comics all the time).

Sure there is a ton of content but if you go through a small percentage of it then you have seen almost everything in the game. Also the game mechanics don't change much either as you move along; it's the same mechanic and look for most of the game.

Not much in the end game.
  25. I thought they would at least make the Ghouls look different as opposed to zombies in shackles. This game just recycles everything - and it really sucks. Signature characters are diff versions of the same main ones (for the most part); constantly using the same maps, enemies and so on. The look of this game is getting to be very....bland.
