A tribute to Walter Jones
I'm thinking you probably intended this for Comics and Hero/Villain Culture, but that's meeting you more than halfway.

Nice tribute they put together. He played his college ball at my alma mater, Florida State. There's a tribute thread going on the Warchant.com forums for him. A couple of folks have mentioned he probably had one of the best NFL careers of any former 'Nole, along with perhaps Fred Biletnikoff and Deion Sanders. I'd throw Derrick Brooks into the conversation as well.

Not to knock Shawn much, but I always felt that the year they went to the superbowl, virtually anyone could have been a thousand-yard rusher behind Jones and Hutchinson. They weren't just the best left guard/tackle combo in the league, but possibly ever.

I've been a fan of the Hawks since they started up, and he's the best player I have ever seen play for them, just slightly ahead of Cortez Kennedy. He'll be missed.
Mike Holmgren said Walt was the best offensive player he has ever coached. High praise when you consider he coached Joe Montana, Favre, Young etc.

Possibly the greatest left tackle in NFL history has called it quits. He will be missed...he will be missed. Thanks for the memories, Walt.
