I was hoping you wouldn't say that. >.< I'll check that out too, then. -

Cheating? When the enemy's consciousness expertly spans four or more dimensions, are you sure you really know what the rules are? :3

Quote:If you don't want to have any preconceptions about the PC, then you would have to remove the 'caution' bit, because that assumes the PC cares about that at all. If you want to leave it in without assuming anything about the PC, you should have the contact offer a strong argument to the player (or PC) as to why discretion is the best option. However, if you want to, ah, 'force' a proactive or sly attitude onto the PC, no editing is necessary."You cautiously enter the warehouse by an alleyside door, away from potential prying eyes. The acrid scent of Superadine taints the air, marking this warehouse as being the right one."
Quote:"Pushing open the rusted gate, you enter the cemetery and glance around. The sound of the wind in the trees almost seems like whispering voices, but you are unable to make out the words."
If you want to take the focus off of the PC in the second sentence, you could replace the second half with something like '...their words indistinguishable to even the best-trained ear.'
Quote:"A cry echoes from an office floor above you, before it's abruptly choked off. Somewhere in here is a child that needs your help... you square your shoulders and stalk toward the stairs, intent on bringing the kidnappers to justice."
Well, okay. I can believe that most folks acting as a hero or even a vigilante would guess that a kid being held hostage upstairs needs aid to stop being a hostage. I think any PC's reaction to this would depend on whether or not they knew the kid was there in the first place. Given that you refer to the hostage-takers as 'kidnappers', I'm guessing the PC already has some idea of what's going on. Aside from that, however, different PCs might react in a variety of ways. Suppose that any given PC could be a new and/or nervous and/or squishy hero wondering if they're really cut out for the job; a beserkerbarrage 'I'm the best at what I do, bub' archetype; or someone who uses their head a bit more and has a MO that differs from sternly marching up a staircase with a one-liner locked and loaded. Alternatively, the PC could be an arbitrary mechanical mind that's just doing what it's told or and doesn't give a whit two ways, I don't know.
Also, in regards to the terseness that might keep some folks away from the MA...I wouldn't say that the kid is 'somewhere'; we know from the previous sentence that he or she is upstairs. Pretty close, too, since the PC can hear them (unless they have that super-hearing stuff, that I don't know.)
Also, 's kinda off-topic, but I can't think of a better place to put it considering that the question is primarily being asked to infrequent MA'ers. -
Where are you that you're seeing all of this spam? I've seen requests to form an MA team from time to time when I'm visiting Atlas Park on one of my heroes, but I haven't really seen 'spam', per se.

Quote:If you think the automatons are sucking lately, then that's very good for Nemesis, since you won't be looking for the very important ones that don't have orders to act like piles of junk.Is it just me or have automatons radically decreased in quality, lately? It seems like every other one is always missing some stupid file or clicking really loudly. That probably doesn't help their one and only purpose any, either. Imagine going into work one day, and your boss is like "Hey do you have that report I wanted" ('cause I guess bosses really like reading reports) and you go "Sure thing boss ERROR FILE INVALID" and then you kill him with your weird steam musket. Wouldn't that be awkward? Being an automaton sucks.

The crystals spawn defenders at 1/2 HP, and then again at 1/4 HP. Not all at once.

Is there an issue preventing me from redeeming character slots on Live right now? I've had two from before the patch and when I try to redeem one, I get a prompt explaining that 'The additional slot will appear on your character select screen as soon as your request has been completed and validated.' My 'Redeem Slot' message goes down by one, I think that's fine, nothing shows up on my character roster, I back out, go back in, and nothing has changed except that the 'Redeem Slot' message has gone back up from 1 to 2 slots available.
What gives? -
Extened maintance, you say?
Some jerk hacker has obviously been dupin too many rares. -

Quote:The given reasons for that are A) Positron was preserved inside his suit while unstable, and B) Synapse's altered biology keeps him in good shape.Wow this is kinda funny I just got done reading Web of Arachnos and now I am reading The Freedom Phalanx. Also did you guys know that according to the book Ray Keyes (Positron) and Steve (Synapse) were 27 in 1986 so today in 2010 that would make them 50. They look pretty good for men who are half a century old.

Dating? In CoH?
Man, don't you people know that, these days, bad things happen when the romance game is played in the comic genre? I'm still waiting for the other shoe to drop on Psyche and Manticore's marriage.
This, in turn, will cause Manticore to become a dark, brooding recluse,
which will cause division in the Freedom Phalanx,
which will cause it's dissolution,
the bad guys will take advantage of the power vacuum,
only to be stopped in the nick of time by the new, hip generation of young supers,
who will form the hip and popular New Freedom Phalanx,
and then most of them will die in successive story arcs at the hands of those same bad guys,
because that's edgy and they were never meant to last long anyway,
their deaths will bring the old Freedom Phalanx back together, including the surviving (i.e. the most popular) characters from the New Freedom Phalanx,
Manticore will recover from his trauma due to some ambiguous revelation,
Sister Psyche will be brought back from the dead in some baffling way,
and things will return to exactly the way they were before because man, that New Freedom Phalanx thing just wasn't working out.
Of course, this is all just speculation. -
Thanks for the plug, PW. I think it rocks that you thought Harrier was written well enough to be an actual contact. Maybe one of these days I'll write something else that stands out as much as that particular arc.

"The Burning of Hearts" in my signature seems to be okay. You can try my other villain arc if you like.

Playing my Rad/Sonic Corruptor, my Flawed Clone had exactly:
- The Thermal Radiation all-shields buff from AE
- Build Up
- Thunder Kick
Ajax pasted her. Or it. Whichever. -
Quote:This. After having a day to cool off about this change I've done some thinking and I think I have a better alternative fix.
If this fix is indeed to stop buffbotting, then the ideal fix would be to make it so custom critters don't use any powers at all if they don't have any attack powers that deal damage, and make it so they don't use any powers if they're set to passive or non-combat. Enemies taking damage from allies in MA missions already takes down the amount of XP they give out. The issue is that these allies are making the missions significantly easier without reducing the rewards. The solution then should be the ability to remove that, by making it so any ally in a mission is forced to be able to attack enemies and therefore utilize the current balancing factor already in the game. As it stands with the current patch, people who use allies who do attack are punished twice.
Obviously this solution would probably be harder to code in and obviously take more work, but the Mission Architect was such an undertaking and has been publicized so much that it frankly deserves a better exploit solution than this. -
Thanks for the review, BW! I'm glad you liked the arc.

Quote:Maybe you could work that fact into the bios somehow? That way you don't have to remove the original bio. Thanks for the review! I'm going to have to put bios for the stock mobs I guess, I left them as default as a wink and a nod to Ed's penchant for re-using stock footage and stealing random props from television studios (same reason as to why there's so many random mobs in Act III), but apparently my audience wants bios everywhere!
