  1. Yeah. There's some things that are better left unattended, would be a little silly for them to put any amount of dev time into glad battles. I don't think they've done anything with them since, I don't even know. Way before i13 that's for sure.

I've run it where in the finals teams were static, but I think others have run it where you still do random teams.
That sounds fair to me. If you let people choose their toons after the draws, it sort of kills a lot of that randomness that is what makes these lethal lottery events more unique. Would also have to worry about AT limits and stuff with that setup.

I probably wouldn't participate in something like this, but if you guys ever want a chance at bringing some new blood into arena, this is the kind of thing that needs to happen. Probably a more fun way to do it with the current demographic anyways.
  4. I would not go Archery for a PvP corr. Other then the broken stun, it's pretty much garbage.

Would recommend fire or rad for primaries. Maybe sonic.

    Who Killed PvP?

You're a few years too late to jump on this bandwagon, good sir. i13 is almost 5 years old now. Best course of action would be to either suck it up and accept it's a lost cause, or quit.
  6. I don't know. There's not really enough people (vets, good PvPers, however you want to put it) left hanging around to have a decent pre-made 3v3 type deal, lottery sounds like a better route to go right now. Otherwise you will just have a few stacked teams fighting a bunch of crappy teams, which would make this event a lot less fun imo.

My understanding is these lottery events usually generate a decent crowd, so I think overall that's the way to go for sure.

In terms of rules, the only thing you are going to need to be careful about is incarnates. Might be interesting to let in a bit more then alpha this go round, but you will want to probably pick and choose a bit. Obviously no lore, and I hear incandescence in arena is pretty stupid, so you may want to consider that also.

That's coming from somebody who hasn't done much arena in a while, obviously, so I don't know where people are at with incarnates these days. I think it's worth a try to fit a bit more in then alpha for a 3v3 lottery, though. Just my personal opinion.

Yeah it sounds like this must have broken recently. I have a bad memory, but not that bad. Never did actual tests but it was definitely noticeable before. Good catch, then.
  9. All math aside, my experience is consistent with Lib's. As it stands, CM and similar buffs (to a lesser degree then CM, usually) have a very noticeable effect when it comes to mitigating mez's.

Domination seems to greatly reduce that difference. This is probably foreign to those who haven't played as an Emp or played with an Emp who actually uses CM, but the difference is certainly there.

If you aren't dealing with outside status resistance buffs, then I can see where the difference from Domination might be less noticeable, but then again, Doms don't really need the help from Domination to be effective anyways in post 13 PvP.

Like I said, I don't know the math behind it, so I can't say if it's WAI or if the math is wrong, or whichever it may be, but my hands on experience definitely points to Domination having a noticeable effect in some situations.

Even if it's not WAI, I don't support fixing it. Dom's don't need the extra mez duration from Domination, if they had it, they would likely be incredibly overpowered. It's fine as it is, broken or not.
  10. Are you sure about that? I'm pretty positive the unresisted part of Domination is not broken, last I checked. If it is broken, then it is certainly new.

Besides, Dominators are already pretty damn good, I don't think they need any fixes or help.

EDIT: Lib got to it before I could.
  11. Regen broots are pretty legit if you never want to die, but they won't kill much in zone.

Since KM is essentially useless now, I don't know what to tell you about Scrappers for zone. Maybe MA or Fire would be good, Eagle Claw's crit is actually better then the old CS pre-nerf.
  12. Would probably be best if you attached your entire mids build to your post, so people can give more specific advise if necessary.

I don't play Melee so I can't help you, but I'm sure posting the entire build will help others who can give you better feedback.

In answer to your question, yes. PvP IO sets grant both the PvE AND PvP set bonuses in PvP zones/arenas.

There's no accurate way to calculate DR automatically. Best you can do is look up the formulas and either do the math on your own or try and ballpark it. Most experienced PvP builders have a good idea of what DR will do to their numbers to a fairly accurate extent, but that's just because they've made so many builds.
  14. One does not simply PvP without 41 KB protection.

    That's madness.

Seriously though, Anon is and has been against SOPA/PIPA before they even had names or when it wasn't exactly known. There were so many hints from such an earlier time when the Government first made a move to silence websites. They met a brick wall.

A minor threat? Empty? Terrorism? Those words are in themselves incoherent, they do not do justice to what has actually been done in the past, and the operations launched on a much larger scale than you might think, or know. There's a lot of traffic from all over the world converging on one main forum or #, to discuss, plot, and derail subjugation.

You only think it's minor because thats how it will be displayed to the public eye, however when you attempt to view or go to certain pages run on a Government server you might find them taken down or slowed to a standstill. Not just one but hundreds of Government pages at once, simultaneously mind you. I see how the mass majority here see Anon as a whole, and what they think of their supporters, activist, and hacktivists . It's fine for you, and the hive-mind here to be against a set of ideals but to compare it with nativity is a little narrow sighted.

Until you've seen what is going on behind the scenes, the beautiful combination of DDoS, BotNets, PshyCaTTs, PhishTURs, and All Colored Hats uniting in one cause, setting aside lulzy ego flame wars and nuke boxing; all to give your ''physical'' paper trail the eyebrow it deserves, it's best to not call out against it with strong negativity. Especially if you don't know of the actual scale the offensive is set at. How many dedicate black box pushers to cause mayhem. It's not structureless anarchy, it's not random targets, it's not destroying mom & pop. There is a plan, each and every step of the way, spoke in multiple dialects, throughout dozens of other Countrys', from skype to Xbox to PS3 to PC to Forums to Friends to Family to Phones to Towers. It's all over. Everywhere. You may think it as minor but you're wrong. OH noes not on the internet! Yeah. On the Internet.

You are assuming I have an opinion of Anonymous that I don't, I already stated I like Anonymous' message and their ideology, I understand they are not a hive mind and are run on the ideology of Freedom of information. I understand they are de-centralized, and I am familiar with the things they do. I actually approve of many of the things they do and why they do them, but I think it is absolutely absurd to assume they are responsible for any of this. I think Anonymous themselves would never claim to be the sole reason things get done, nor do I think they believe they are the most important reason. I'm not anti-anonymous by any stretch of the imagination, I just think they amount of actual power they wield is a little exaggerated and believed on a far too grandiose scale.

Like I said, cyberattacks on the Internet can only get you so far. The straw that broke the camels back for SOPA wasn't cyberattacks, if anything they used those things as further justification to push for SOPA/PIPA. The thing that truly pushed those bills off the table were the massive amounts of e-mails, letters, and phone calls from all sorts of people, many who weren't Anonymous, is what finally caused that, coupled with various protests.

Also, you clumping me with the hive-mind of CoH users is a little ridiculous. I absolutely abhor most of the people who frequent these forums and barely agree with any of them. You are being a little foolish if you think Anonymous deserves all, or even most of the credit for these things getting done. I'm sorry if you take offense to me trying to steal the limelight from Anonymous, but I live in reality, not cyberspace. In reality, Anonymous is not what gets **** done, the people who are doing things in reality, going out to protest and sticking their necks out there, are what get things done. Make no mistake about that.
  16. I think the amount of people who play this game who either don't care about or don't like the story of CoH is much, much bigger then those who like it. Hell, look at all the RPers, barely any of them base their stories around CoH lore, because it has a lot of problems. I think that should be a good indication of whether or not the story is quality. If the majority of players don't care for it, then it's bad. You can make a subjective argument to try and say it's not, but objectively speaking, the majority of the CoH population would disagree that this story is any good.

I think CoH relies TOO heavily on expecting the players to create their own stories, but then also provides very little breathing room within the canonical content of the game. If you are trying to paint an MMO story wise as being open ended and customizable/personal, then you have to make the plots follow suit. As it stands, CoH pigeon holes you into very linear story paths, and that is in stark contrast to the ability to near-limitlessly customize the look of your character as well as their "bio" or background story or whatever. The whole force-feeding of the praetorian story and the incarnate content does not help this game's story whatsoever, also. The writers for this game clearly have a vision for what they want the story to be like and are not willing to accept that there are other ways to approach it, and this philosophy often carries over to gameplay mechanics as well, which is why I'm no longer subbed to this game.

I'm not against Roleplaying, I am a writer myself, one of my main hobbies outside of playing video-games is writing short-stories, as well as writing about various real world philosophical/sociological topics. If this game actually appealed to me story wise, I would be much more likely to want to partake in some form of roleplay, and I have roleplayed in other MMORPGs in the past.

I don't REALLY care enough to get into a longer debate about it, because I'm more or less done with this game, but I think the lore and story in this game is generally fairly lackluster and continues to dissapoint, and many people clearly agree with that sentiment in some way shape or form.

This opens up an vaccum of power, both red and blue side, which would be a good thing cause we are now supposed to have these uber heroes, who are still flunky level to the Phalanx and upper level Arachnos? So the absence of the uber hero/villain would make for a more realistic acheivement of at least a villains ultimate aim, the whole enchilada. Can they possibly make all of Arachnos non hostile towards you? or would they continue to be hostile towarrds you as they would be attemping to usurp your power? its an intriguing possibility when in fact we are altering the universe now, according to the way missions are geared around team leader's view point. (experience the universe created by JimBob)

I'm personally a fan of the idea of a power vacuum in Arachnos, either resulting from Recluses' death or from Recluse stepping down to re-evaluate his life, or go after Wade or what have you.

One of the main issues I've always had with the Villain canon was that you never really feel like a true Villain. You are kind of stuck in this loop of being a lackey to the top level villains, or at the very least a lackey to Lord Recluse. Yeah, they did try and create the image of you being equal to him with the patron arcs and the LRSF, but that's where it pretty much stopped. Removing Recluse from power would allow some interesting opportunities for Villains to physically take control of Arachnos or at least try, and would give players more direct control over the way their personal Villain story pans out. The "theme" of Arachnos has always been survival of the fittest and yada yada, but you have never been really given the opportunity to prove that you are the fittest.

From a lore standpoint, I think not killing LR and keeping him in power but still having him go after Wade would be more immediately interesting, but opening up Arachnos with a power vacuum as a result of LR's fall from power would open up far more potential possibilities for your PERSONAL story to be interesting. In an MMO, I think that your characters own story should be more important then the iconic NPCs story and the lore surrounding them.

    Just my 2cents I guess.

Anyways, I'm glad to see that the opposition and awareness for this bill has grown so much. When I first started speaking out against it a good 1-2 months ago, people were generally more apathetic/uninformed about it. It's a good thing that bills like this are becoming a liability for political candidates as well as businesses, that is how it should be.

I also want to point out that this is not the first nor the last, nor the worst piece of legislation like this to come our way. Obviously, the NDAA is a big deal, and it was even big enough of a deal that Romney was booed at the SC Republican debate for supporting it, and he doesn't get booed often. Not interested in getting into the details of the election, but it is a good thing that people are becoming concerned about these kinds of legislation.

There are other things that they are trying to now pass on the heels of the NDAA that I think people should be concerned about, such as the bill that would give the President the ability to strip Americans of their citizenship (Forget the exact name, but it's another obscure bill that is not being covered by mainstream news).

So, in any event, getting this bill tabled for now is certainly a victory for the people, but I think the worst thing people who were so opposed to it could do is to count your blessings and assume that we are safe from any future bills - that could be much worse - because this one is now not very likely to pass.

I also think anybody who believes that Anonymous had much to do with this in reality is being a bit naive. I like Anonymous' message and I think their intentions are certainly good, but their empty threats against the government and (minor) cyber attacks are actually hurting the cause, not helping it. They are essentially giving the government an excuse to rally people against the "dangers" of a free internet, despite their intention being the opposite. Cyberattacks/terrorism/warfare/whatever can only do so much, if people actually want something done, it needs to be done in physical reality. We can't just sit around and hope somebody else will do it for us.

Also, I think you all should check out the new OPEN legislation that is backed by Google and a few decent US legislators that I think is making a much more honest attempt at anti-piracy legislation.

Anyways, off my soap box and back to not playing CoH.
