Join the main global channels in the game JFA2010 or Justice United. It makes it easier to find teams, get questions answered, etc. I'd recommend stating upfront that you've been gone for a while and that you have questions and ask people to send tells if they are willing to answer your questions. Use the tell system to ask your questions and get answers without flooding the channel. Some can get annoyed when the channels are used in that manner and they can't see team requests/info. Also, you could ask them in the Help channel instead. There are several people willing to help that monitor that channel.
First off, for the Incarnate system, you'll first need a code for the purchase of Going Rogue applied to your account. Without GR, the Incarnate content is inaccessible. The introductory Incarnate arc doesn't require a team, but some need help completing it. The rest of the Incarnate content we currently have is the new TF's and iTrials which do indeed require teams, if not multiple teams in the case of the iTrials.
Primal characters (started as either a Hero or Villain) can get to Praetoria through Pocket D entrance into Studio 55 IF they have purchased GR. Praetoria is a lowbie zone with 1-20 content. IF you have purchased GR you can start a new character in Praetoria using any AT (except for the EATs and VEATs).
The side-switching is pretty much as you list it. You can continue all the way to the opposite alignment as well, not just stopping at Hero or Villain, and there are missions that give a reward for staying a Hero or Villain a certain amount of time. -
Quote:They have not stated any other method of acquiring points, other than purchasing them, for non-VIP players. And if you're free you never get any points, ever, without spending money?
They are already giving people a method to play for free with a few minor limitations. Why would they give away the points for free as well?
Purchasing points, which in turn makes you a Premium player and removes some of the limitations, is part of the basic f2p system that includes microtransactions, and seems to be a core of the hybrid models some games are using. -
I had trouble a few days ago getting the Beta client updated. I let it run overnight and it still wasn't finished updating the next morning.
Of course, my immediate action on opening the launcher is to click the Update button when I know that it's out of date. I also have separate shortcuts for Live, Test and Beta, as well as a shortcut for the Launcher only (to go into Safe Mode eaiser, check settings for advising people, etc.). -

Quote:There have been several list glitches NOT caused by drivers as well, and several of them were clocking/tuning programs for nVidia card such as RivaTuner or EVGA Precision Tool. Are you using an ATI card? All of the * list gliches I have read about (including my own) have been related to ATI and their drivers not working well with CoX.
Check your driver version. If they are quite old (less than 11.2) try updating to the newest ones. If they are the newest, or fairly recent, try rolling them back a version at a time.
There doesn't seem to be one driver version that works for everyone. But I have read success from drivers between 11.2 and 11.6. (My "magic number" was 11.4.)
That's likely why Emberly asked for the CoH Helper and HiJackThis logs, so that we aren't just making wild guesses. -
NOD32 has had several false positives over the years with CoH files. I'd recommend trying Mandu's suggestion of deleting the file and redownloading it to see if it's still detected as a virus.

Quote:In the first post of the thread.I just want to know where do I find out how many slots I will have based on whats on my account? If I have like CoH(original), CoH(dvd), CoV(Special ed.), going rogue, and like a ton or vet time. Where does it tell me what each thing gives me?
If that wasn't clear enough for you, you can read later in the thread where Positron stole Chad Gulzow-Man's list.
Quote:
Finally, I am stealing Chad Guzlow-man's list because I love it so much:
If you are not paying for your account in City of Heroes Freedom, this is how many characters you'll have access to:- BASE FREE/PREMIUM ACCOUNT: 2 characters, total
- OWN GOING ROGUE BEFORE FREEDOM LAUNCH: Add 2 more characters
- PER YEAR OF PAST SUBSCRIPTION: Add 1 character per year
- PER PURCHASED CHARACTER SLOT (beyond standard 12 per server): Add 1 character per slot purchased

The drivers are for Windows 7 32-bit since that is what the CoH Helper report showed you are running.
-
If the game is still hanging when you launch it after the drivers are installed cleanly, post the results of running HiJackThis. You can find instructions for downloading, running and posting the HJT logs in Hyperstrike's stickied [Guide] Asking for technical help on the forums post. Start with Step Number 7 in the second post in that thread.
It's very possible that there is a program interfering with the game launching and the HJT logs will show us what it is. -
nVidia 197.45 drivers
nVidia 275.33 drivers (most current)
Here is how I'd recommend doing the removal of current drivers and installation of new drivers.
Download and install Driver Sweeper but don't run it yet.
Download the video driver package but don't install it yet. (Your choice of the two above).
Uninstall the video driver software from Programs and Features and Uninstall the drivers from Device Manager.
Reboot into Safe Mode.
Run Driver Sweeper and let it remove the remnants of the old drivers.
Reboot into normal Windows mode and run the installer for the drivers that you downloaded earlier. -

Players saying something along those lines? Yep. Violates the rules. OCR team or Devs? Not that I can find.
Actually, I've seen nothing in the rules that restricts what any Paragon Studios or NCSoft employees can say or do on the forums.
I've gone over them enough times that I'm fairly sure I'd have spotted it by now.
EDIT: Technically, that Rule #17 I quoted above says that they can, albeit in a roundabout way. "All message board content is allowed at the discretion of NCSoft." Since the OCR team is in charge of the forum and their content, it's in their discretion to allow any post they make.
And yes, I've seen them moderate the Devs in the past. -
Quote:A few things.Isn't I'm killing you with my mind the kind of post that would get one of us blasted to Oblivion? I copy and pasted a line of boiler plate auto reply e-mail to a in game request and had my post yanked and a secret e-mail sent to me that looked like it was worded by an attorney.
P.S., watch this post be deleted as well.
1. It is against the currently posted Message Forum Rules and Guidelines to make those private communications public without permission. I'm not surprised the post was removed if it was posted on the forums.
2. It is against the currently posted Message Forum Rules and Guidelines to discuss moderation actions on the forums. Yes, I'd expect your post to be removed as you surmised with your ps.
Likewise, I'd expect mine to be removed as well. Why remove yours and then leave mine that quotes and responds to yours? It would seem out of context if it was left even with the quote of your post removed.
Finally, those same currently posted Message Forum Rules and Guidelines have the following section:
Quote:
17. Proprietary forums
The City of Heroes/City of Villains Message Forums are private message forums administered by NCsoft. All message board content is allowed at the discretion of NCsoft. NCsoft reserves the right to remove any message board content at will without notice for any reason at its discretion.
Of course, the rules have been interpreted and enforced inconsistently since the forum were first put up. EDIT: Oops, that breaks rule #4 also. Ah well. -
A few things stand out. According to your CoH Helper report, it is using the Intel graphics chipset. But your HiJackThis log shows nVidia graphics processes running in the Services. I'd suspect that your laptop is using one of the graphics card switching mechanisms that seems to be fairly common of late. Most likely it has switched to the Intel chip instead of the nVidia chip it should be using for the game. There should be a method to disable the graphics switching and specify which to use.
The other thing I notice is the Intel PROSet Wireless entries. Are you running this using wireless or do you have a wired ethernet connection to your router or modem? If it is wireless, you could be getting interference. Try connecting it with ethernet instead and see if the conditions continue.
Of course, it could be a combination of the graphics issues and wireless as well, or possibly something else. But those two areas are where I'd start looking if it were a computer on my workbench that I was working on. -
Quote:Windows 32-bit OS's are supported. It doesn't require 3 Gb of free RAM.or on the box it should say something like:
"MINIMUM 3 GB *FREE* RAM REQUIRED"
or
"WINDOWS 32 BIT NOT SUPPORTED"
I have a Windows XP system with 2 Gb of RAM. Not 2 Gb Free, 2 Total. The game runs fairly well considering how old the hardware is. Do I need to turn down the settings on that system? Sure, I 'd be crazy not to.
Does it run as well as my newer computer with Win 7 64-bit, 6 Gb or RAM and an ATI 4850 graphics card? Of course not, and I don't expect it to. I'd be crazy to expect it to. But on the old system the game doesn't crash when I'm playing. Neither does the new computer.
Of course, I seldom play on the old computer anymore, unless I'm trying to test something specifically that people are reporting. Why would I play on it when I have a desktop and a laptop that both run rings around it when it comes to performance?
My Live game hasn't crashed in a several weeks, and that was with several things running in the background using memory, cpu cycles, and network bandwidth. I think it had been close to a week since I last rebooted the computer as well, so given those circumstances it wasn't surprising. I rebooted after that and haven't had any more game crashes since.
The Freedom server stress test didn't crash my game, but I had the sense to reboot before the session and not be trying to do other background tasks at the time.
The last game crashes I can absolutely recall were while I was logged in to the Beta server for a scheduled testing session.
Do I hear of other people crashing out of the game? Sure. Do I believe them when they say it happens? Sure.
Is it because the game requires 3 Gb Free RAM and isn't supported on 32-bit Windows? Of course not. -

*hopes Red Valkyrja is in the process of moving before the meteors hit* -
Since those are the drivers that are the default driver when installing Windows 7, it's worth pointing out that those drivers aren't the "full driver" that you'll get from nVidia. The OpenGL portion of those "default drivers" is crippled.
For that old of a card, I usually stick to the 197.45 drivers from the Beta and Archived Drivers at nVidia. Those were the last WHQL drivers of the 1xx.xx series and were released after Ultra Mode so they are UM compatible. -
Quote:You have been misinformed then. Incarnates were released in Issue 19. Issue 18 was released concurrently with Going Rogue. Issue 19 was released several months later. Yes, it required having purchased GR to access the Incarnate content, but Incarnates did not come with Going Rogue. This is doubtful, they've said time and time again that you keep what you've bought.
The Incarnate system came with Going Rogue, from what I understand. Under this logic anyone who has Going Rogue attached to their account will be able to do the Incarnate content, even if you drop down to Premium. -

Possibly on the Mac forums?
I know that the Mac client has a few .... quirks .... that the Windows client doesn't have. I'm just not sure what all of them are since I don't use a Mac.
Some of that could be related to driver support on the Mac platform as well, specifically the video drivers. -

When Arcanaville posted that list last night in response to one of my posts, I nearly spit Coca-Cola all over my monitor and computer desk.
Sometimes Arcanaville's posts have that effect on me.
When I saw this post heading at the top of the Community Digest listing a few minutes ago, I almost spit Coca-Cola all over my monitor and computer desk.
Well done Zwanderburgerfilington (goes to check to make sure there isn't a poster by this name).

Quote:I saw that chart last night and wrote a nice post about it but the forums logged me out when I tried to Submit Reply. Since I had been fighting staying awake and spelling words right while typing that post, I decided to just go to bed instead of redoing it and say something today to compliment you on how well it was stated.
Then I saw Posi's post and deciding to compliment him for not only on stealing a good chart from a player but also giving them proper credit.
Then I saw your post pointing out that he spelled your name wrong.

<.<.
Hmmm.
I'm rather afraid to say anything else at this point.

Quote:It's not. They've been to PAX and PAX East at the very least. Why is it always in California? I mean I love comics but I dont know if I love them so much I want to go to California.....I mean they have crazies there like the Baldwins ! LOL
Unless of course you are asking why SDCC is always in California.
That would be because San Diego Comic Con is always in San Diego, California.
They really wouldn't want to hold it in San Diego, Texas. It's extremely small, in the middle of nowhere, and the biggest thing going there is the Glossbrenner Unit that is part of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
