This doesn't look right. Perhaps you could try uninstalling your drivers, running a driver sweeper and re-installing your drivers.

Here's what I did: I logged in to the game in safe mode, pulled up the options menu, used the dropdown menu to select the "Desktop", quit the game, and started it back up. As I type this, it's been three minutes and it's still sitting there at the "Loading..." screen.

Could it have something to do with my monitor? Someone was asking earlier about whether I had it plugged in to my video card through an adapter... it's plugged in to one, now that I check. It's a standard VGA plugged into my nVidia Geforce GTX 260 via an adapter that has two rows of plugs, with a flat piece off to the side (which has 4 plugs around it). Sorry, I'm not much of one for knowing adapters and the likes. Could this have anything to do with it? I hope not, I'd really not like to have to give up this nice monitor.
This should have nothing to do with your monitor. The Unigine Heaven demo ran fine with this monitor, right?

So, when you start the game in safe-mode, it comes up 800x600 in a window? Can you bump up the graphics settings and resize the window (not through the game's graphics settings, but just grabbing the corner of the window and making it bigger/smaller)?

    No.

You can add '-maxinactivefps 5' or some other small value (like 2) to your "Extra Command Line Parameters" (right click on the game in the Launcher and select 'Properties' and add without the quotes) to reduce the CPU/GPU usage of the instance (or instances) which does not have focus.
  4. Try adding '-compatibleCursors 1' in your "Extra Command Line Parameters" in the game properties (right click on the game in the Launcher and select Properties).
  5. So, what happens when you change resolution or enable windowed mode, quit the game, disable safe mode and start the game?
  6. Had a Moderator move the thread to the Mac Users forum.

    Texture Glitch

My first recommendation would be to make sure you have recent drivers installed for the video card.

My second recommendation would be to check your video card temperatures while playing to see if that is an issue.

My third would be to make sure your power supply is adequate for your video card.
Glancing through Newegg's 14 cards with the ATI HD5570, 12 out of 14 require 400 watt or better power supplies. The other two do no mention any power requirements.
  8. The game will definitely never run properly in Windows' safe-mode.

Try running the game with the game's safe mode.
  9. Did you try the game's safe-mode or Windows' safe-mode?
  10. Since you can get the game to run in the game's safe mode, what happens if you start the game in safe mode and then increase the graphics quality without enabling the advanced graphics options? Don't forget to hit "Apply" after moving the graphics quality slider.
  11. If you can run other OpenGL applications (like the Unigine Heaven Benchmark here: http://unigine.com/download/#heaven with the API set to OpenGL), then it might be a problem with the game or game settings.

If other OpenGL applications also fail to run correctly, then it might be a problem with your system (hardware, drivers, other applications interfering with OpenGL, etc).

    Zoning times

Also keep in mind that anti-virus software will monitor file accesses and this can reduce file access times.

Most anti-virus software should have a way to exclude certain file types or folder from their scanning. Specifically, the .pigg files in the piggs folder in the game installation folder are being accessed during zone changes.

    Excellent suggestion.

  14. My recommendation would be to re-install your video drivers. In particular, you might want to run one of the driver sweeper tools after uninstalling the video drivers to make sure all remnants of any old drivers are removed before re-installing one of the latest drivers.
  15. If it doesn't happen at night, try messing with your shadow settings.
  16. You probably need to update the video drivers:

Video Device Name: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4500 Series
Manufacturer / Chip: ATI Technologies Inc. / ATI display adapter (0x9553)
    Video Memory: 2039 MB
    Driver Version: 8.632.1.2000
    Driver Date: 8/18/2009 2:15:58 AM

Go to www.ati.com, click on "Support & Drivers" in the upper right.

Set the dropdowns on the right side to:

    Notebook Graphics
    Radeon HD Series
    Mobility Radeon HD 4xxx Series
    Windows 7 - 64 Bit

    And click "View Results"
  17. If you are seeing "Corrupt pig file detected" errors, try the "Repair (Consistency Check)" in the Launcher (right click on the game and select it) and also try adding "-verify" (no quotes) to the "Extra Command Line Parameters" in the Properties page in the Launcher.
  18. If you are looking to get this fixed, my advice would be to fill out a support ticket or email support@coh.com

  19. Does she have recent graphics drivers and has she tried the game's safe mode?

  21. Have you tried logging in with the game's safe mode enabled and changing the graphics options?
  22. '-verify' happens at the beginning of the game.
'Repair (Check Consistency)' in the Launcher happens in the Launcher
'Verify All Files' happens in the old CohUpdater.

And yes, '-verify' just checks all of the files and does not attempt to fix them.
