Upgraded to a new system, having no problem with others games. I can run the Heaven tester in Open GL mode with no problem.

However when playing City of heroes the game will hang, along with the system for a few seconds followed by a message that my display driver has crashed. This of course kills City of heroes.

Not sure if CoHHelper worked right, sinc eit gave me some error about reading the registry.

This doesn't look right. Perhaps you could try uninstalling your drivers, running a driver sweeper and re-installing your drivers.

Ran the Nvdia uninstaller, booted into safe mode and ran the Phyxion.net sweeper, then rebooted and reinstalled Nvidia drivers. Ran CoHHelper again, got the same error message about reading the registry.

Edit to add: Obviously can't check if this has fixed the crashes until the servers are back up.

Two questions.

1. When you run CoH Helper, you are downloading it to the hard drive and then right-clicking the file and selecting Run as Administrator, correct?

2. Are you using a non-US version of Windows? For example, in the UK the standard date format is slightly different than the US date format. This often causes dates to appear odd in the CoH Helper report.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Yes to both questions.

I'll try switching to US settings now.

Edit to add.

Okay I went through the entire isntall folder and changed it so that every CoH related shortcut was set to run in windows XP compatability mode, and as admin.

Haven't crashed yet, and Afterburner is showing GPU useage as 50ish percent, rather than the 90-100% I was getting before hand.

Don't know if it was changing the exe's or the driver reinstall that has caused that though.

75% GPU useage but no crash on a Preatorian map team.

Setting the shortcut to Run As Administrator is fine, but you shouldn't have to set it to run in XP mode. Try it without running it in XP Compatibility Mode.

There are two other settings you may want to put a check mark in on the Compatibility tab of the Properties page:

Disable Desktop Composition

Disable Visual Themes

Some like to Disable Display Scaling on High DPI Settings as well, but that's purely up to you.

Just had a couple of lock ups and crashes simply logging into a character, exact same settings that allowed me to play for a couple of hours.

On the third attempt, didn't crash.
