Zoning times
More RAM will usually fix slow loading times. Do you know how much you have right now?
But still I fear and still I dare not laugh at the madman!

Yeah. I have 2 GBs.

Please post the results of these two programs:
- CoH Helper - it will show us basic computer settings and your CoH configuration.
- HijackThis - it will show us what's running on your computer concurrently with CoH. Click on "Do a system Scan and save a logfile." It will automatically open up Notepad and put the info there. Make sure Wordwrap is off in Notepad (Format > Wordwrap unchecked) before you cut and paste here.
Actually, do the HijackThis twice: once before you start CoH and those helper programs and again with CoH and those helper programs running.

I will, Zombie Man. But I can't do that for a couple more hours when I'm back home. Still at work right now. Thanks in advance.

Just a side-thought, but I always try to put my game installations on a separate hard drive from the one Windows is installed on. This means the normal operations that get called on the OS drive will have less effect on your load times.
Of course, this isn't really an option if you're on a laptop, unless you have an eSATA port and a burning desire to run the game off an external hard drive.
And as was said previously, 2GB RAM should be enough to run the game smoothly, but it couldn't hurt anything to upgrade it if you have the means.

EDIT: Yes, I'm planning to upgrade, since buying a new computer isn't exactly an option ATM. I'm of the "If you're doing it, do it right" mentality. So if I'm buying a new computer I want it to be a drastic improvement or not gonna bother at all. I'm just not exactly sure WHAT I want to update. I know for sure I want a new harddrive since the one I have is too small. But not sure about the other pieces.

Let me know if there's any more information I can provide that'll be of help.
Also, I'm not sure if it's obvious from the log or not, my CPU isn't actually a dual core. It's a single core that's set to act as a Dual Core with multi-threading technology or something. Sorry, lol. I'm not the biggest expert on Hardware.
EDIT: Should probably mention that all my drivers are up to date, even my network driver.

going to a solid state hard drive cut my load times way down.
I completely feel your pain on this issue.
My computer isn't much better than yours for the specs:
Pentium D 3.20GHz
3 GB RAM
Nvidia 8800 GT
but I've been frustrated for quite a while at the interminably long load times I've been getting. I've defragged my hard drive. I've tried changing my graphics settings, reducing them to near-unplayable visibility. I've even tried increasing the speed of Internet service I get. Nothing seemed to make any kind of difference. I'd still be left behind at the beginning of a mission while everyone else had gone far ahead. (For example, on speed LGTFs, I would just be getting into the mission and the team had already beaten the second spawn of War Riders.)
Then I stumbled upon something that made me think differently about the issue. I activated a second account so I could test some things without Going Rogue and immediately noticed that my fast load times came back. However, if I switched to my main character on my main account, it was still the same old slog. This made me think that it had nothing at all to do with my computer. So, I ran a test.
I took four characters from my main account and parked them all in the main courtyard in Galaxy City. Character 1 was a level 3 alt, had just a handful of badges and nothing else to speak of. Character 2 was level 35 with 400 badges and a random mixture of SOs and IOs. Character 3 was level 50, had 700 badges, was fully-IOd, but had just started the Incarnate system with some progress on a couple slots. Character 4 was my main character, level 50 with 1200+ badges, fully-IOd and fully-Incarnated.
I timed how long it took from when I clicked "Enter Paragon City" on the character select screen to when the loading bar filled and I gained control of the character. Here are my results:
Character 1 - 0:25
Character 2 - 0:40
Character 3 - 0:53
Character 4 - 1:12
(During normal teamed missions, Character 4's loading times can sometimes be as high as 1:40, with me sitting visible inside the mission map for 20-30 seconds before my teammates see me actually do anything. You can imagine how it makes me not want to be the leader for selecting the next mission.)
This shows to me that character load times are somehow related to how complex your character is and how much information the server has to transmit to your computer. I don't know that there's anyway we can get confirmation of that from the devs, but it could be something that we can test on our own to verify.
Hope this helps.

honestly the best bet would be to increase your ram. It looks like your board only has two dimm slots and a maximum memory of 4gb. If you shop around you could probably upgrade to that 4gb for $40 or less.
As to what you can do without increasing your ram. Just before you zone type /unloadgfx
This will unload all the graphics from memory and then reload only the stuff that is within perception range. Anything extra that was stored from places where you were previously will be cleared out.
Don't count your weasels before they pop dink!

Also keep in mind that anti-virus software will monitor file accesses and this can reduce file access times.
Most anti-virus software should have a way to exclude certain file types or folder from their scanning. Specifically, the .pigg files in the piggs folder in the game installation folder are being accessed during zone changes.
If your able to add more ram, that will help, and if you can, start killing some process startup programs. Skype is pretty resource hungry, no sure about Paltalk. Bascially if you can shut down any that you don't need, while playing, you free up memory the game can use.
http://www.blackviper.com/ lists some configurations for trimming window programs as well, if your inclined and comfortable making "service" changes.
For other programs, use task manager to keep programs from starting up. Some monitor programs that will help you identify what is loading,
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/s...rnals/bb963902 and their process monitor and process explorer programs located there.
Two things tend to impact loading time the most: Disk access time and available graphics and main memory.
I'm going to guess that your computer comes with a PCI-E 1.0 graphics slot. There should be several cards that can be installed without stressing your current power supply, but you'll need to know your power supply specs. Pay specific attention to amperage available on the 12 volt rails.
Buying anything for your current system would be a waste of money that would be better spent on the replacement.
Lots of things can determine zoning times: (in no particular order)
1. Internet connection
2. CPU Speed
3. Ram Speed
4. Hard Drive
5. Graphics Settings
Most users are using SATA2 Hard Drives, while there are a few people with SSDs the vast majority use the same drive. So spending while spending big bucks on an SSD will help some, that level of cash would be better spent on a better CPU & GPU.
Your RAM is maxed out. Spending on old dead end DDR2 Ram is a waste of time and very little gain. Also, with 32 bit windows XP you are already at the end of what it can handle. Sure you could double your RAM to "4GB" but you will still be complainig about long load times.
Best best for not spending money is lowering graphics settings.
Its not that expensive to replace MB/CPU/Mem to get something a bit more current. Then a decent enough GPU to keep up. The cost of replacing those parts to something entry level would run about $350 + tax

You're using 1 GB out of 2 GB even before you start CoH. Then, CoH wants to use another 1.3 GM (on low settings!). This means you have a lot of pagefile caching out to the hard drive to create virtual memory. And accessing the hard drive is the slowest form of memory. That is precisely why your load times are slow.
First of all, get rid of Turbo. It's not disabling near enough background processes as you need disabled.
Second of all: I strongly recommend a fresh reinstall of Windows. You do that by backing up all your data; Make sure you have an install disk; Then hard drive wipe and reinstall everything.
If you don't want to go that route, you have a lot of hard drive cleaning to do. You have way too many programs that are resident in your memory. A properly behaved program loads itself when you call for it and unloads itself when it's done. And if they want to be resident all the time, they ask permission first. Your computer is full of programs that have loaded themselves into the startup registries without your knowledge or permission.

Jumping to 4 GB RAM will help, though, nothing will help that oldish and underpowered graphics card you have. And it won't solve the problem of all the CPU cycles the other programs are stealing.
If you want to see what load times would be like with all those other programs turned off, follow the instructions here.

I've noticed disabling vsync significantly improves loading times on every computer I've ever used, to the point that i.e. my laptop that struggles to keep 30 FPS on lowest graphics can load faster than my desktop running most stuff on high at 60 FPS.
Thanks for all the input, guys. Help appreciated.

Also, for the programs, I checked the Start Up section of MSConfig and most of those programs I have disabled to start with windows from before (and they don't). About reinstalling windows, it's certainly more than easy to do so, it's just checking if I have all the software I want before I do it. Plus I was planning to get a new HDD eitherways (upgrade to SATA while at it since my motherboard supports it, or so I believe at least. Since it has all the appropriate wires and stuff) so a new windows installation was in order eitherways. However, I'm about 80% set on keeping Win XP because I just do not like Win Vista/7 at all (I have all available I just have to choose, lol).

Until about 9 mths ago, similiar situation, XP 2 GB ram, and like you wasn't interested in using Win7, and had long load times after the graphics update. 9mths later, new computer, Win7, 9 GB Ram and much, much faster load times.
New video card will not really help the load times, and as long as you continue to use XP, you'll be limited to what your system can use for memory. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3_GB_barrier
This memory allocation includes the memory in your video card as well, so your bascially stuck with only using about 3GB for all your system/program needs.
Windows 7 is actually pretty good, once you understand how the UAC works, but you may still need to upgrade the system if you can't add more ram memory to your current motherboard.
Oh trust me, I fully understand how the UAC works. I just don't like how their ideas of "more security" always translates to "bigger pain in the *** to use programs with more restricted features".

Simple question that I would be really grateful if I could get help with.
My computer is old, but I can play CoX on it on Performance settings usually rather very well. I have lag issues but nothing that's overly annoying. However, the one thing that has always annoyed me while playing: My zoning times. It takes me a LONG time to zone between areas (or from the character selection screen to a zone). I know regular deragging helps. And I run "Game Booster" and "Advanced System Care" while playing CoH and use their Turbo Mode to shut down a lot of not-so-gaming-related processes to free up CPU. But still, I was wondering:
What influences zoning times? What can I upgrade on my computer that might help me with this? Would updating my HDD to one with higher reading speed help? More RAM? Different graphics card? Better/Faster processor? Anything else? Some settings in the game itself?
This is really the one thing that I'm really wanting to fix. I can live with not-so-awesome graphics and random lag issues (Roofs on last mission on iTF, the new warehouse maps, sometimes on iTrials, sometimes just random lag spikes and rubber bands). But my zoning times have always annoyed the crap out of me (and sometimes my teammates as well, as I'm very often not only the last one on the map, but the last one by a considerable margin). I tried running on minimum settings before...and it helped, but honestly the game looks so crappy at minimum that I dare say it bugs me more than the long zoning times.
