  1. Decent upgrade. Check out a couple articles on the new system components. That i3 530 is a "big bang for the buck" processor and an excellent upgrade over a 3yr old processor. That video card is no slouch either, but I perfer nvidia products. Check out these articles. Did you already have Windows 7? Thats an upgrade if you didn't, allowing you to expand/use much more RAM depending on what you had before, like XP.

  2. I'm using 197.45 drivers on my computer, AMD 4400, XP, 2GB, 70GB Raptor HD, GTX 260 216 core with an OC. No problems for the most part with COX or COD UO, Battlefield 1 and 2 and DDO. I have a sparklie effect on some maps where it seems the "texture maps" join, but I also had those with the older, 191 drivers. I need to post a picture.

I'm liking em, and seems most on guru3D are. Running everything on Ultra Mode, world detail gets laggy over 100% so don't bump it past that, and gettin an average of 20 FPS on redside maps, a lil higher with vsync off.

When I have the game up, these clients can't seem to stay connected, and I have problems with it seeming to block all audio and communications from them. I never had this problem before i17, so I know it's not my system, and my connection is fine. I can run ultra mode with hardly a hiccup, and it looks beautiful, but I would like to be able to keep communicating with my friends without having to stop and use in game chat every few seconds when I'm running a TF/SF or a trial, as it gets annoying. Any solution there?
Some people, including myself have found that setting the priority to "high" in ventrilo has helped. YMMV
    From ventrilo faq,

Q: Some games cause Ventrilo to delay sound and other functions.

It has been discovered that some games, like BF1942, will consume all of the CPU time of your computer. This in turn starves other applications like Ventrilo preventing them from carrying out their associated tasks. This is especially bad for voice comm programs that run in the background and independently of any game.

In the Setup-Misc page there is an option called "Process priority class". Setting it to high could very well solve these sorts of problems. However, please be sure to read the help documentation for this option so that you fully understand the ramifications of setting it to anything other then "Normal".
  4. Function is king for me. I feel you should be able to see the porters right off, if you enter from either the med, or base port. Having an invention table near the base port/porters helps for hoppin in to just create something quickly.

That said, my current storage is a lil out of the way, via a security corridor, connected to the porter room, and at some point, would like it closer to the porters.
  5. pmgunnerxx, thanks! I'll shoot ya a tell ingame.
  6. Excellent, I just noticed your SG floorplates you used at the porters, genius! I'd sure like a tour when your done. Thanks

    My Base

Nice color scheme on the throne room. Sorry your addicted now, heh. Thanks for sharing your work!
  8. Thanks for the update Turbo, glad your back up and running again. Looking real good!

    No Telepad?

I can't remember for sure, but you may need to be in the teleport room for the item to show up in the menu. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
  10. Sorry your having computer problems Turbo. Look forward to the updates when you can get up and running again. Thanks
  11. Nice tree! Sayaki created a holiday themed room here,
    http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=200065

if you care to take a look. I thought it turned out great.
  12. Just remove the items in the storage room you placed, and sell it back. You get refunded the cost, and get the bigger room. I think that 19 is the cap on storage bins on any plot size.
  13. I like to use Pocket D. Allows access to 4 zones and it so simple to get the becon. Helps if your trying to save some influence on your base. By lvl 30ish, travel is much easier with Ourboros and etc., so I'd try to keep zones that are used by lower lvl toons.
  14. The "map overlay" available at Vidiotmaps is heaps helpful for locating badges in game. Make sure you visit the locations while in SG/VG mode!

  15. Hmm, I wonder if you could keep the lighting low enough in that room to borrow Redlynne's "planet" idea, and put one in the corner there somewhere. With the proper lighting it might turn out really well.
  16. "I can still work around it for a good 6-8 hours without too much trouble."

Interesting, with my 2 gigs I'm only good for around 3-4 hrs or so, before the game will freeze up.
  17. Thank you very much, Sayaki. That tree looks awesome. They should put it up in Pocket D for the winter event!

"constructed using two SG hologram emblems placed on the same location at 90 degree angles to one another"

    Great job!
  18. It is strange that it seems to have gotten better for some. Wonder if the lack of AE farming has any impact on base data?

"Now I can edit all night if I don't pay attention" LOL Ninja
  19. Can't wait for the updates Turbo. Looks outstanding so far!
  20. BTW, running only 2 gigs of ram atm here, Tyrak, Gromar you?
Gromar, I hadn't experienced those issues myself, ie. map disconnects as related to base edits.

"I was also thinking of TerraShock and Tyrak who come up with great things."

Thanks, but I'm quite undeserving I feel. I've seen the work of numerous others that I envy, heh. Appreciate the thought though!
  22. Sidhe, for me the game "freezes" and I have to windows tab out to desktop, then use task manager to stop the game process from there.
