Top 5 Builders

It's really amazing what you guys can do with the base. I was wondering who you think the top 5 best base builders are?

There really isnt any purpose to this thread whatsoever, I just thought it would be neat to rank some of your work. It's also good for those people who are looking for base help to target and ask some questions that most of us (like me) have no idea how to answer.

I guess it would be based on creativity and functionality. Also, it would be really neat if those who are nominated or would like to be nominated post some of there work here for us to see and rate! Thanks!

"Top 5" would be pretty subjective. Ranked how? By the amount of stuff combined into other things in the base? By aesthetic value (so a small base would be as viable as a "top" pick as a massive base)? What theme - space? arcane? sewer? villainous? pirate ship? Old-style stacking vs. the new I13 stacking?

We already have resources in the stickied threads above- Issue 13 bases, Issue 13 rooms, Base Builders For Hire, Cross Server Social Group (base tours).

Not to mention all the thread each individual Base Builder has created to show off his/her stuff.

My Base(s) really aren't an area of competition for me, I guess.

I was hoping for it to be subjective. I didnt want it to be a series of awards considering that that may be the only way to "really" due it justice. I was more or less looking to see what overall player from what we have see throughout the modern time just gave us the WOW factor or inspired us as builders.

To me this is more or less a set of peoples opinions, and I am interested in seeing what players find "more" appealing in a base as far as rating the base designers overall skills in all areas.

Also, do you mean currently or all time?

HAHA, I like that! Why not all time! Should be fun and bring up some nice conversation.

Okay if I have to pick my all time fav base builder that has inspired me the most I can think of only two off the top of my head.
1)Stacker
2) TurboStar

Stacker is the bomb and I can't not have him at #1 and well Turbo is just doing some amazing things right now. I would be happy to have either work on my base.

Heheh, I forgot that I took out that I was the Founder of B.B.I. out of my forum sig. -_-;

I agree with that. I mean, Stacker does an amazing job all around as far as creativity and innovation. That theater he made just blew me away. Turbo is more like a concept builder, but is precise with placements and came up with neat ideas that get me thinking of what “could” be done.

I was also thinking of TerraShock and Tyrak who come up with great things.

Yo, Robo, I'mma let you finish, but Stacker built one of the greatest bases of all time!

Thanks! I wouldn't put myself in the top 5, though. I'm really good and have some nice tricks - I'd be comfortable saying I'm in the top 100 (could be wrong), and wouldn't argue a top 50 placement... but I've seen around 10 builders who are definitely better than I am and I'm sure there are more than that whom I haven't seen. I am working on it, so maybe someday.

Edit: Stacker must be top 5; if there are five better builders, they're jerks for not posting their stuff here! Turbo is a good candidate for top 5. He is certainly in the top 5 that I've seen.

Thinking more about this, it is hard to judge overall. Which is more important, good lighting or keeping a theme? It would probably be easier to come up with top lists for different categories, like creativity, lighting, thematic consistency, usability/functionality, and so on. (I am excellent in creativity and usability/functionality, good in thematic consistency when I want to be, 'meh' in lighting... how do you determine which are most important?)

Very true Tyrak. I think it is hard to judge important and I don't go to the thread were all the cool stuff is posted much anymore because it just makes we want it an I have no time to spend building.
I think if we have overall builder and all the other catigories but as it was stated it is who we think bases on what we have seen and just a fun discustion though how would we judge the base builders. I'm not near the top 100 but with practice I hope that someday I could be.

I guess that puts me very solidly in as #6 ...

It's the end. But the moment has been prepared for ...

I think were mostly in agreement on the top two, but still 3 more to fill. It's hard for me to really pin point it. Like you all said, its tough without a category because some arcane bases blow away tech and visa versa. I need to do some more browsing on the forums.

Thanks, but I'm quite undeserving I feel. I've seen the work of numerous others that I envy, heh. Appreciate the thought though!

I know a lot of folks who are good builders then again i know people who claim they are and actually really suck.

So with those who CAN build a base, hard to put them in a number line up of who is better then who.

IMO - you'd have to separate this into (at least) 2 categories, builders that create:

1. Bases that look awesome in Screen Caps, Vs.
2. Bases that are actually functional (ie: load time) &
(possibly? 3.) Bases that still look amazing when you're actually walking through them... (= limited 'tearing' of objects where they're overlapped, etc.)

I haven't been around the Base Construction forums in what feels like an eternity, so I've forgotten most of the names of people that have inspired me. However, Stacker definitely comes to mind. A lot of folks around that time were pulling off neat tricks for the sake of tricks. Stacker stands out to me because of his ability to combine concept with building complexity, and the finished product is always clean and has a nice flow. The bowling alley and the movie theater come to mind as prime examples.

I wish I could remember other names. I should start looking around again.
