HTAOL'LEZX GAHP-HHKI GAHP-HHKI
She does not sleep, but she dreams
She dreams of her poison spreading across the landscape
She dreams of her treachery being the only law that life obeys
People in chaos
Fighting each other for the smallest comfort
Lives and loves forsaken, forgotten for self-preservation
Survival of the damndest
Obey the Law of Lies and die in misery
Disobey and die in pain
For being overwhelmed in misery is heaven
For those that live by the Law of Lies
HTAOL'LEZX GAHP-HHKI GAHP-HHKI
She does not sleep, but she dreams
Her pleasantries are the nightmares that children endure when asleep
Her happiness are the screams that the innocent cry out with
Her enjoyment are when loves turn to loathes
She dreams of hatred and bitterness
And of those that live by the Law of Lies
HTAOL'LEZX GAHP-HHKI GAHP-HHKI
Those that hate for hatred's sake
Loving to be despised and loathed
Those that fight others simply for blood
Gorging themself upon the suffering of others
Those that light fires and wish to be burned
Lusting after the flames that consume humanity
Those that refuse to forgive or forget
Simply to enjoy the anger and rage
Those that care nothing of others' well-being
Preferring to savor the suffering and anguish
Those that know the simplest joy of life
Is to see another ruined and shattered
These are those that live by the Law of Lies

As a budding author myself, I have to say this...
Of course there's still original ideas. That's like saying there's nothing more that can be invented. Ideas keep on flowing and comings.
Sure, there's a bigger sea of ideas now, so some things will eventually overlap, but no matter how large the sea gets, imagination is endless.
But that's all beside the point. The main point? Who CARES if it's been done before?
Let me point you to two particular book series: Redwall and Inheritance. Both of them are overused, unoriginal drivel that shamelessly flaunts its sources and has very little that can be pointed out as "unique". However, the Inheritance trilogy is [censored], while the Redwall series is godly.
Why? Because it all depends on the WRITING.
Originality is not what makes writing. You can have the most draw-you-in, never-before-seen setting, plot, characters, and it all goes down the tube if you can't write worth a damn. On the other hand, you can have Generic McEveryguy and his cardboard-cutout love interest Princess Boobies on the run from the vicious emperor Czar Evil von NastyGuy and have it enthrall your reader, hanging onto your pages because it's good writing.
Originality is important. But it's only one side of the die. People overrate its importance into an end-all-be-all concept that will kill if the die rolls on the wrong side.
Sure, work on making it different. But don't get worked up if you find out "Hey, this is kinda like such and such". If the rush to try and do something that hasn't been done eclipses your ideas that can be turned into good writing, then something is very, very wrong. -
Hakubi, you always were my favorite Jerk.

What Acanous said, really. Absolutely nothing is delved into or explained.

Probably one of the most common type of RP SGs out there.

((My Controller, Synaesthete, is a trance musician. Only makes sense she'd put out CDs, yeah?))
CD Cover.
Track 1 - Rock is Water (5:31)
Track 2 - Hardwired Ecstasy (5:50)
Track 3 - Worlds (3:28)
Track 4 - Reanimator (5:49)
Track 5 - Intermission (1:50)
Track 6 - Awake (3:51)
Track 7 - Synaesthesia (6:00)
Track 8 - Heavy Pulse (3:43)
Track 9 - Against All Odds (7:31)
Track 10 - Assassins (4:18)
...and there are also rumors of a hidden track, buried somewhere within the CD. A hidden track that has deeply disturbed some people...
And of course, not everyone has the money or the morals to buy the CD.
Alternate URL for download.
Another URL. -
I'd like to see somebody try to RP a char of the opposite sex over a VOIP.
I know I have. People were surprised and a little scared over how well I did it.
I'm not sure if I should be scared, too. -

A: No power supression.
[/ QUOTE ]
Feel free to activate Power Blast, Slug, Web Grenade, or the like on another player. Or get Inferno, Nova, Rain of Fire to hurt them.
Then tell me there's no power suppression. -
Fun fact: Noxious Gas is a Mag 1000 Hold and cannot be resisted by anything outside of AVs in purple triangles.
See, this is why I hate RPing out fights. So many people have their own special rules, what to do, what not to do, why you shouldn't do such, why you SHOULD do such, and people can never agree on what to do. Never ever ever. Everyone's idea of godmoding, overpowered, and "too far" is entirely different--what's perfectly acceptable to one person (for example, Diov) is entirely unacceptable to other people (say, Devious). This creates friction in which the goal of the fight will simply be to out-do each other, instead of creating a gaiden to a story.
Me? Just take it to the damn arena. There's a set of rules already laid out for you. It's not a popular concept, since many chars ICly awesome wouldn't really be able to do [censored] due to player inexperience in PvP, but it's my favored method. -
Theory:
One of the reasons the devs seem to be ignoring this topic is because people are putting forth impossible ideas for their own signature powers, which is...slightly intimidating, as if it DOES get done, people will be awash with disappointment over "I can't make such-and-such?". -

And that's just with a passing glance... -
Well...I'll post a more in-depth reply tomorrow, commenting on each of the ones so far. So far, however, I'm leaning towards Kodiak's second, implementing a few of Chisoku's elements. Both of those really captured the feel the most, I think--though both had some things I didn't like about them, both still had enough qualities I liked in them.
CAPUSA's also looked cool, though quite similar to Kodiak's and very darkity-dark. I'm still trying to find the reason why I like it. The Voldrator/Void Rider's helmets looked cool, though not at all what I requested.
Flashybot made me want to gouge out my eyes.
A more in-depth post tomorrow, sleep now. But thank you all very much for your input, I'm going to see what I can do with all of the suggestions and ideas, mingling a few of the really good ones together. -
Having just got back from work, wow, Kodiak, that's a hell of a design to return to. Thanks so much for taking the time.
I'm fond of the second design--the first just seems too "busy", with how complicated the Vanguard pattern is. I'm incredibly fond of how you thought to use those shoulderpads, though, and that chest detail. It blends perfectly, too. The vanguard gloves, however, I'm immensely fond of--would they look better if they were colored the same red as the shoulders/chest, or do they look good in yellow?
I do find it also ingenious how you managed to use the Stripe pattern on the Stealth skin, instead of the namesake pattern. It fits perfectly.
The Stealth BOOTS, however...I'm not so fond of. They always looked incredibly...strange to me, more zombie-like, and especially not befitting of an armored appearance as all.
In any case, thank you again for taking this request, I very much appreciate it. -
With the overhanging shadow of I11, and the dreaded mantra of "information pending" looming over my soul, I've entertained myself by conceiving out a Dual Blades/Regen Scrapper I wish to make.
The (tentative) name is ChronoBreaker, and this is his current costume.
Put plainly, it sucks. Hard.
I do not like the fact that it sucks. Hard.
I wish it to not suck. Hard.
I AM rather fond of the helmet design and the reaper-and-shouldercape-makes-it-look-like-a-scarf, but aside from that, I enjoy absolutely nothing about it. I tried to go for a sleek, form-fitting armor befitting of many Kamen Riders, but that above just doesn't...fit. At all.
Thus, I come to you to ask for help. Aside from the above-the-neck and the fact that he has a yonis (i.e., is a male), revamp anything and everything you want. Colorscheme, costume style, costume theme, anything. Use any vetwards, use any invented costume pieces, use any Vanguard pieces...anything you need.
Character info is, well, rather simple, in case you need it to help with costuming:
His civilian identity is Masaaki Hiroshi, a dashing casanova and a suave example of a college kid. Handsome and cool-headed, little can wipe the permanent smirk off of his face. Also an impeccable bullshitter and a devious manipulator, capable of convincing people of nearly everything--a trait he credits to "each of my words having a hundred hooks, ten hundred deceptions, and a thousand lies".
Despite his fondness of stringing people and his unashamed womanizing, his steadfast sense of justice and desire to protect the innocent cannot be denied. In a very, very Cliff Note's version of his backstory: When he found an ancient artifact resembling Chronos' Zodiac Wheel and promptly defended it from monsters that seeked to harness its power for themselves, they were struck down after a fierce battle. A cloaked woman with a lyrical voice approached him, realizing the great power that he had contained within him...but simply needed nudging.
Gracing him with the technology of her people, the long-dead Sirens, she gave him two simple items--a belt with a slot in the middle, and a hi-tech watch. Taking off the watch and inputting it into the belt would give him the ability to transform into ChronoBreaker, the Clock Watcher, and is a role he has taken up forever since...though it often sometimes clashes with his college studies.
He eventually met Scordatura, my MA/SR Scrapper and another bearer of Siren technology, though hers made her the Musical Maestro. Though she utterly despises his personality, she knows his heart's in the right place, and both of them fight alongside each other as "Catch Tempo".
His weapons are the Hour Hand and Minute Hand of a clock, except enlarged as blades. His natural affinity to time also hastens his healing, so opponents need to move faster than he in order to defeat him.
So, there's info, there's the sets, there's a few things I would like. I would very, very much appreciate it if anyone would take up this request--if you request influence as payment if I take your costume, I will not deny it. -
Dude, heroes have been taking crap offa villains for some time now.
Where the hell do you think they got those enhancements? -
[ QUOTE ]
The point of this post is that Super Heroes DON'T kill people, and that it's pretty much impossible to arrest someone using a pair of knives and NOT kill them.
I have no problem with CoV and dual blades, it fits the bad guy motif quite well, but CoH? Gimmie a break.
It's funny, I looked over my 2 servers full of heroes, and out of the "killer" weapons (katana, axe, broad sword, claws, mace, assault rifle) I have a grand total of 1 character. That being a lvl 1 katana using joke toon named "Wild Bill Kelso". So from my point of view, we already have 6 worthless, unusable powersets in CoH, why bother adding more?

Plenty of heroes kill. PLENTY of them.
Which debunks the entire point of your post.
Don't push your concept of heroes onto other people's. Even with none of my heroes that ever kill, I can think of several nonlethal variants of said weaponry. -
Just remember. With the good...comes the bad.
Beware the Mature RPers.
