I hate farmers.
....And tarts.
[/ QUOTE ]
But tarts are almost like miniature pies. -

49% of the players LOVE the AE cause it lets you get to 50 w/out really playing the game
and 49% of the players HATE the AE cause it lets you get to 50 w/out really playing the game
and 2% of the players like pie?
[/ QUOTE ]
I like pie. And my dislike of AE has little to do with people rushing to 50 and more to do with the negative impact it's had on passively acquiring PuGs. Also, I hate outdoor mission maps. -

The term was coined in this context for games that allowed you to go through existing content in as free a manner as possible.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ok, we're using different definitions.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm using the one that applies to video games. Which one are you using?
[ QUOTE ]
It changes the way you go through the game's content in a profound way. If it didn't nobody would be freaking out.
[/ QUOTE ]
You still go through the content in the same way, you just don't go through the world in the same way. The freakout is more due to the community structure being turned inside out, I'd say. It'd be much the same if Portal Corp was placed in Atlas. Except the word "bridge" would be coming up in complaints as often as "farm."
[ QUOTE ]
You can team with whatever levels you like, you can do content from any level range you like, and via Oro you can cover 'real' content you missed on the way up.
[/ QUOTE ]
Auto-SKing is one of the few useful things about the AE missions. I often wished regular missions worked that way before AE even came out, or that mobs in missions would be level-less. To me it's a QoL improvement that mitigates the headaches of team shuffling. -

I don't accept that the MA is a step towards freeform, sandbox style gameplay.
[/ QUOTE ]
You can pretty much make any characters you want and tell any story you want with MA.
That's a sandbox, unless the kids today are using some newfangled definition of the term.
And the game overall is becoming a lot more free form.
That isn't really debatable.
[/ QUOTE ]
The term was coined in this context for games that allowed you to go through existing content in as free a manner as possible. The MA doesn't really change the way in which you go through the game's content. And given that the gameplay itself is essentially the same, the game *isn't* becoming anymore freeform. -
[ QUOTE ]
I'd vote for Portal Corporation to get destroyed, again by the Hamidon.
[/ QUOTE ]
That'd be neat, too. -
[ QUOTE ]
Or do you only accept those round pillars of light all the high level types used to spend all their time hanging around at Portal Corps?
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't accept that the MA is a step towards freeform, sandbox style gameplay. I make no assertions about prior farming practices. -
It seems to me that sandbox style gameplay doesn't generally involve congregating in a single room around a pillar of light.
-
The building turns into a giant magician hat with nothing inside. All characters inside are ejected and permanently placed in pink bunny costumes.

My Corruptor languished at 44 for several months before I got back to it and hit 50. Mostly because I seemed extraordinarily powerful up until 40 and then everything started eating me for breakfast. And I don't play him at 50 like I stil occasionally play my FF Defender.
-
[ QUOTE ]
The forums are full of people maligning AE, yet when you log on, where are you people? Can't find or make a PUG for anything these days. Not even a PUG comprised of all you posters looking down your noses at the AE farmers.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm always on Virtue on various characters when I play. I'm often indiscriminate about teaming, though, so I may be on an MA team even if I'd prefer not to be. Mostly because invites to other teams are rare and I generally hate soloing more than AE missions.
But I did get to do the new TF with my 50 FF defender the other day, which wasn't bad. I prefer that Ourobouros TF where you fight Arachnos and the giant spider though. Some day I hope to get on an Imperius TF. -

So is that an objective opinion or objectve truth, cause i thought fact ment it was a truth?
[/ QUOTE ]
To paraphrase Obi Wan, it is true from a certain point of view. -

AE buildings out of Atlas, Galaxy and King's Row, yesterday.
[/ QUOTE ]
I concur. There doesn't need to be an AE in every zone. Steel, Brickstown or Founder's Falls, PI, and mayhap Pocket D would suffice IMO. -
[ QUOTE ]
But my most painful memory is being kicked from a team (the only time that has happened) in The Hollows because of the knockback on my powers. (en/en Blaster...sigh)
[/ QUOTE ]
I hate that. I recently quit a team because the leader told me to stop using my Primary with my Energy/Electric Blaster. Of course, that's where all my attacks were. If he knew a damn thing and was worried about the KB he should have told the Eath controller to keep things locked down so they wouldn't get KBd. -
[ QUOTE ]
but he did say "all wounds"
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm just saying they don't have to go that far. It doesn't have to cure ALL wounds. Light or serious would be fine. Catfish? -
[ QUOTE ]
I think it would be ironic if our guns didn't shoot bullets, but instead squirted a healing salve that cured all wounds.
[/ QUOTE ]
It'd be fine if it cured serious wounds, or even just light wounds IMO. -
[ QUOTE ]
And to the OP: If that one guy actually knew he was a noob he wasn't that new. I didn't even know what that word meant when I started.(Or "nerf", or "powerleveling")
[/ QUOTE ]
There are different levels of "noob"... There's "noob" in relation to a specific game, and then there's "noob" in relation to the genre, and of course "noob" to PC gaming in general. Being a "noob" in a particular game but not in general PC gaming one might be more than passingly familiar with the jargon. -
There are certain levels of "newbish" behaviour that I have very little patience for. And much of it derives from an apparent inability to pay attention to the UI and the easily gleaned information contained therein. Information that precludes questions like "where is everyone?" or "where is the mission?"
-
It will be fairly continuous Rikti invasions.
-
It's the gameplay that kills the early levels for me. Running out of blue after fighting one group on Heroic. Being defeated because you just kept missing that Lieutenant. Defenses on melee characters being highly inadequate to the task. None of the stories are good enough to look past the tedious gameplay of those levels.

the game's designed to be fun from 1-50
[/ QUOTE ]
It's so absurd that I'd laugh except I think you're actually being serious. -

[ QUOTE ]
Moar zombie invasions kthnx.
[/ QUOTE ]
Rikti > Zombies
[/ QUOTE ]
Definitely. The zombie events should have happened more like a Supatroll raid - massive amounts of zombies pouring forth from a set spawn point (probably several spawn points given the zone-wide nature) so it felt like a zombie attack. If it were really cool the citizens would be running around and the zombies would attack them and turn the citizens into zombies. Of course, the zombies shouldn't hit quite as hard given the numbers they'd be appearing in.
But as it is, they just feel like a sawed off Rikti attack. I'm surprised hellish Necromancers in flaming chariots don't fly around dropping pumpkin bombs. -
[ QUOTE ]
For those negative nellies, remember the first time YOU were part of a Ritki Invasion
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah. Not that exciting. Better than the poorly done zombie attacks though. -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
They don't need a HQ, they just stand around in the zones day in and day out training people. Hell, they don't even move when the Rikti and Zombies attack.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well all that stuff's grey to them, no XP.
[/ QUOTE ]
But those things aren't grey to anyone! Hax! Ban the Freedom Phalanx! -
Given that there is some variance of colour between powers in some sets as is, it seems likely to me that you would set the colours per power.

[ QUOTE ]
They took away my old sounds and gave me new ones dangit!
[/ QUOTE ]
I wouldn't have noticed, really, except I have a character with monstrous legs and reptilian claws that now make slight click-click noises when she walks like claws do on hard surfaces.
Now if only the monstrous head options were better, their necks didn't clip through all jacket collars and the spiked collar, and I was able to have skirts/shorts with monstrous legs.
