  1. For Dark, you want Twilight Grasp (no choice, but you want this slotted), Tar Patch, Darkest Night and Fearsome State (so good you may put off getting stam for it if you think you can manage without it).

Max out TP's recharge and DN and FS's -tohit. DN does take a while to cast, so you may find yourself resorting to only using FS as your main damage mitigation, especially on fast moving teams. Howling Twilight is not only a rez, but an auto-hit debuff and mez, so it's something to consider picking up even if you almost exclusively solo.

Nothing much to say about Rad Blast: if you have played a blasting set before then there should be no surprises here. Once you are swimming in slots you can trick out your blasts with lots of procs however.
  2. I quietly slipped in my own submission just before the deadline:

    The Cave
    ID: 459590
  3. Certain maps have the "back" be nothing more than a really tiny room. You can then set both unique bosses to spawn there, and fiddle about with the dialogue so it looks like they are having a conversation.

It is not an ideal solution, but I hope that helps.
  4. I think you've got a really great build here. The only thing that comes to mind that I would change is putting in an Apocalypse proc into Fire Blast, which I'm guessing should be within your budget and is really worth the price. You can easily take out the end red in Benumb for it.
  5. That's a thorough summary, thanks.
  6. Anyone know what all the Xs, Os and other symbols on the map are supposed to represent exactly?

Personally, if a Kin joins my team and won't SB the team, I generally make a note of the person and won't team with him again. I don't make a stink about it and generally don't say anything. I also won't kick somebody for that, but I can choose to avoid him in the future.
Pretty much this. I really don't mind recasting SB (and find it to be a part of the set's fast paced charm), and can find it annoying when people do not SB. I won't kick up a fuss about it, but I will make a note to avoid picking the same player over another player who wouldn't purposely hamstring their team's overall performance like that.

I pretty much don't bother inviting Fire/Kin trollers anymore as I can count on them never SBing...
  8. Out of the country with no internet for a month only to find this.

Regardless I do find this contest to be interesting, and will see if I can really write and polish an arc from now till the deadline. Good luck to everyone entering, and if the previous comps were anything to go by we should expect a few real gems appearing as well.

    Claws or NB?

Hi guys, I'm hoping someone with better stalker experience than me can tell me which of the two would be better for me.

Specifically I'm interested in which of the two can deal out the most ST DPS, but also whether Shockwave is good AoE for a stalker.
  10. Suppressive Fire is more important if you solo a lot, when you can't rely on teammates to shutdown or distract trouble mobs.

RI will give you huge soloing survivability on its own, but with SF you can slap those trouble mobs like sorcerers and illusionists.
  11. I would add that one of the best things you could do is slot RI for -tohit as soon as you can, be it teaming or soloing.

If you take and slot both RI and Suppressive Fire, you'll pretty much have zero problems soloing.

Must have powers (with minimum slotting):
    Rad Infection (max -tohit)
    Accelerate Metabolism (max recharge)
Enervating Field (2 endurance reduction SO equivalents, though I would recommend putting this off till after stamina still)
Lingering Radiation (2 accuracy and max recharge. This one is your AV killer and low-mid level crowd control power, though the slow component is buggy for corrs right now).

    Nice to have and slot:
Radiant Aura (you don't get a choice, but if you are slotting this then you want 2-3 heal and end red. in here)
Mutation (nice on teams, though only a "must have" if you do a lot of high risk stuff)
EM Pulse (2-3 hold and accuracy in here)

Fallout and Choking Cloud aren't bad as well, but I'd say they fall more into personal tastes.
  12. Ultimately I'd like to see everything proliferated within reason, though right now I'd like to see corrs get Empathy. I don't think the original defence against corrs getting it holds much ground now in the post-GR game.
  13. Will we get to see another round within the next few issues, or is it going to be put off until after i20?
  14. IIRC, RoF and LR together will put most enemies at the slow cap.

Also just to note, LR is bugged for corrs right now: the -runspeed will not take into effect until it stacks with a non-bugged slow such as the one in your RoF.
  15. It procs regardless of what you have toggled on, as confirmed on my own DP.
  16. Stealth takes up significantly more end to maintain, and puts you at a speed penalty. I would stick with CJ.

Manuevers is also good when stacking up the defences, but again provided you can maintain the toggle.
  17. I don't know if this has been suggested already, but an alternative graphic for the shield buff powers would be great.

Cold Domination I'm looking at you: maybe as an alternative to the "I can't see a thing" ice shields we can get a less obtrusive "cold aura"?

Though alternative graphics for all the shield buffing sets would also be good.
  18. The first 2 arcs I wrote came out of writing the adventures I always wanted to experience on my villains: that is a action-y and slightly humorous arcs hopping from one scene to the next with the feeling of character autonomy. The general feeling of my villainous arcs are also what would now be labelled as "rogue".

The third arc which I submitted to the Dr Aeon challenge was a story I had kicking around for a while, but I was having trouble trying to write an arc scenario for it that I was happy with. With the conditions of the challenge, it made me think of a way to make the arc work which in the end I am very pleased with.
  19. Yes if you've played one of my arcs previously it still counts. I may not remember everyone or if they have even left a comment, so for anyone in that situation just pass me a reminder here, or through MA or just PM me.

I don't really have any restrictions, but bare in mind that I will pretty much be soloing these arcs, so it'll save both parties from tears if people refrain from submitting their TF-style AV/GM fest balanced for teams.
  20. *Wipes off the dust*

Well I hope everyone's been having fun with GR, things are starting to slow down a bit so I thought now is a good time to re-open this old thread for new submissions.

I've decided to go with a different format this time round: I'll write up a review like I normally do, but now I also want to write up some technical feedback directed to the author. The first part will be a player review, giving my general thoughts on the arc and how I would rate it. The second part will be a line by line examination as it were, highlighting any parts that I thought worked and what didn't, any errors or general comments. The second part will by its nature contain spoilers, and is really only for the benefit of the author and anyone interested in the craft.

Also new rules: this will be quid pro quo, and so I ask anyone that submits a review to have rated and commented on at least one of my arcs (you don't have to comment or rate my arcs as the bestest arcs evar, but I do ask that you submit a reason on why you think the arc did not work). If your board names differs from your global, do be sure to tell me as well. Lastly to ensure that the reviews are done in some semblance of reasonable time, I will only have 5 arcs queued for review at any one time.

    Happy MA'ing everyone.

    Super Stunners?

Being a boss level "sapper" with controls should have been enough. The auto-rez/nuke is just obnoxious.
  22. Radiation Infection slotted for -tohit will pretty much eliminate any soloing problems you may have.

From my current experience with DP, I'd say take and slot Suppressive Fire to eliminate any trouble enemies, and 6 slot your T1 and T2 attacks for 1 acc, 3 dmg and 2 damage procs (hey, it even goes with your theme!) Explosive Strikes and Impeded Swiftness are dirt cheap to buy on the market, proccing your Pistols power with Lady Grey's and Shield Breakers will be slightly expensive though.

If you can spare the slots later I would then give the same treatment to Executioner's and then your AoE powers, though note that you want to be firing your T1 and T2 whenever they are up as they leverage the procs better.

    Oh, and use Incendiary Ammo.

    Bugged Bodyguard

Unless you need the protection from bg, I would try having a command that sets some or all of your pets to passive mode to reduce any conflicts between the AI and your future commands.
  24. What LygerZero said.

Keep in mind that Rooted is the main problem to your mobility as it stops you from being able to jump, and you will want Rooted if you are /stone.

I've played around with making a granite-less build in Mids, and really all you end up with is a massive endurance draining build from running all the toggles, with vastly inferior protection. You can use sets to softcap yourself to various damage types, but there's no way to get that huge 58% resistance that Granite provides.

The only reason I can see for a granite-less build is if you're trying to softcap yourself against psi damage, and for that you need to ask yourself if you are really planning to fight enough psi enemies to warrant the sacrifice in power and sets.

I'm all for a shake-up to /stone already so that there can be a good argument to go granite-less, but right now there is no argument.
