And it is awesome.
That is all. -
Others have already said it, but put me down as another supporter for Fire/Dark Corr. It fits your requirements in every way.
-
Hi Camo, how many of your powers are you willing to swap around, such as power pools, specific powers, etc?
If you're trying to maximise your survivability, the easiest and cheapest way is with the scorp shield and going for S/L defense.
From a glance at your build:
LR doesn't need end red. Are you using this build live? As between stam and AM I don't really see how end management will be an issue with this, even with all the toggles.
I would definitely fit Rain of Fire in there, it is arguably fire's best attack with its double scourge ability. Swap out Fire Breath for it if you have to.
Otherwise it's not a bad build. -
I don't have the latest Mids to take a peek (anyone got a link?), but something worth considering is that 98% of all melee attacks have a S/L component.
-
I agree that inherent fitness will be the biggest buff for stalkers, though I'd still like to see them raise the HP cap.
It's off-putting how some of the big powers in WP and Regen are made redundant by accolades and a few +hp sets alone. :/ -
Cloak of Darkness doesn't actually seem to suppress when you're fighting, but does when you click on a glowie.
It certainly make things interesting for my brute, turning her into something more akin to predator. -
Quote:I'm saying this from someone that plays a Demon/Therm. Out of my Bots/PD, Thugs/Traps and DS/Therm. My Bots still end up being the toughest, followed by Thugs (the only one that is softcapped) and then Demons.I would disagree with this. Although not in the spirit of the OP's original question, it really depends on the secondary. One reason why DS/Therm meshes so well is because of the high resists it can achieve. Sure, your minions are getting hit more often, but when they do get hit, they aren't getting 1 or 2 shotted. Couple that with the healing Thermal provides and it makes for some extremely sturdy pets. In fact, I'm finding that I have to resummon my demons less than my bots now, although, admittedly, the borked AI plays some role in that.

Found it thanks, and props again to Umbral for the numbers.
Here's the post for those also interested. -
What would people say is the best ST chain for a DP char? I seriously wonder whether you are actually better off alternating between Pistols and Dual Wield and ignoring ES entirely (for reference mine is a DP corr).
-
Hey Bubba, I was pleasantly surprised when I found out you reviewed my arc.
While I wished I had more time to tweak this arc before submitting it, I have been getting some great feedback such as yours from those that picked it up. I wasn't sure how this arc was going to be received to be quite honest, so it's great to hear players actually enjoying (at least some bits of) it.
I may give it another rewrite after the comp is over to address issues raised by players, due to the overall positive response, and hopefully there would be some interest for a replay. -
It's very possible for a /FA to be softcapped to at least to S/L. This will protect you against 98% of all melee attacks and quite a few range/aoes attacks to boot.
-
Erm, I did posted a link above and PM'd you about it. It should be a really helpful guideline for figuring out how to softcap your */SD.

Paying for lvl 50 IOs shouldn't be a problem from what you've told me of your income, though if you are put off by the lvl 50 prices I would suggest looking around the market for lvl 49 versions of the recipes you want, as they are half the price of lvl 50 ones with only a marginal reduction in performance.
Mutation is one of the better team rez powers, though of course how frequently you'll find yourself using that will depend on how you play the game. If you are thinking of using this char for TF/SF runs then I would highly recommend you pick this up.
Anyway I'm glad you found this useful, have fun playing your corr. -
Quote:I 6 slot Mako's and Touch of Death's for the positional defence they grant. Obviously doing this will mean you'll need to trim slots from other powers, but I think it's very much worth it if it means being softcapped.Yeah i just threw out LBE and put in Phalanx fighting for the Moment... but I'm sure not sure what you mean KM i think Kinetic Combats? What do you suggest i Slot in place of them?
For reference, I use 2 full sets of Makos and Touch's each.
Edit: If you are having trouble trying to make a softcapped build, Fury_Flechette has made a great post on softcapped EM/SD and FM/SD builds for various budgets. It shouldn't be hard to make adjustments from a FM/SD build to work for a MA/SD. -
I would say Phalanx Fighting is quite worth it. Keep in mind that it's an easy 2+% def even without teammates surrounding you, and its another place to slot a LotG.
My own build does not have Grant Cover, but only because I couldn't fit it in (yet). I know that one of my friends swears by it on his SS/SD brute for ITF runs.
Some points from looking at your build:
Don't use KM sets. SD's strength is on positional defense and ideally you want to be softcapped on all positions.
Max out the defence in deflection, that's far more important than what tiny bit of res you get out of it.
Max out your +hp in true grit, again that's more important than the tiny res in there.
I would use 5 Scirocco's instead of Obs in dragon's tail, due to the end burn.
You want near max rech on BU, so you can fire it off whenever SC is up.
Edit: or throw in a full Gaus set as its perfect for capping pos. defence.
I'm not sure if it's really worth slotting eye beams with Apoc's, I know that my scrap has her chain filled with just 4 MA attacks. -
This looks ok, but I can't see any particular goal you are trying to reach with this build, nor what's your budget (since some of the sets you have range from dirt cheap to fairly pricey). Are you just trying to frankenslot with some decent +recharge? Also your IOs are set at lvl 30 for what looks to be an end build.
Some other points:
Think about getting a -kb prot IO, even if you have hover.
I would pick up your patron shield, I would dare say it'd do you more good than OG if you need a power to swap it out for.
Max out Soul Drain's rech.
I think some teammates are going to give you some funny looks if you have fallout but not mutation. -
Hero epics don't require you to run through a story-arc just to unlock it though, and if your intent was to get villain epics from the get go, you should have side-switched immediately or easier still just go from prae to vills for new characters.
-
Posting your build will help, as well as telling us what you exactly want from your build.
I recently fully slotted out my 50 MA/SD and she absolutely rocks. -
I regretted deleting my mind/psi dom who was in her mid twenties. I was getting frustrated with her damage, as this was back when psi had VERY anemic damage before Psi Shockwave.
In her place I made a mind/thorns character instead, but with all the recent buffs to doms I think it would have been so much more awesome for me to have my mind/psi again. -
Quote:And yes like I also said in the first post if you read it, it matters in the sense that if I wanted to create a DA character who subtly harnesses the darkness, or has all the loud effects minus looking like a low-flying cloud, I don't get a choice on the matter.Doesn't really matter, does it?
Power customization lets you turn the visuals for that armor off, right? Or is it just the hide/cloud part? I cannot remember if the sparkles drop too.
Edit: Don't get me wrong, I'd still play the set, and I'm probably sounding a lot more cranky about the whole thing than I am, but DA is an eyesore, and as has already been mentioned in this thread already there are players who refuse to play it because of that alone. I can't speak for the devs, but I'd be pretty bummed if I knew one of the powersets in my game were not being taken because people think it looks terrible. -
I've just spent the morning not trying to have my new /DA stalker look like sparkly vampire mist to no avail.
I just think that it's a bit daft that in this age where we've had power customization, combat auras, the soon to be power emitter customization, and the ability to turn off FX in other powersets (hint hint) DA still looks like sparkly vampire mist.
The main offender is Hide (or its non-stalkery equivalent CoD), which engulfs the player in a thick layer of mist whenever he or she so much as takes a step. The sparkles come from Obsidian Shield, and there's no way to turn off the sparkles, only be slightly less sparkly.
I understand that some of the devs want powers to retain certain unique looks to set them apart from others, but every DA char ends up looking more suited to a Twilight fanfic than running the full spectrum of being subtle or terrifying like what DA could be.

How is the damage distributed in Lightning Rod? I heard that it's dealt in several radii but I can't find the numbers.

As always nice work Bubba, and to everyone helping to judge.
I don't think global emails actually work across US/EU, if that's the case I'll be happy to chip in to pay any EU winners.
