Melee Defense or S/L Defense

Evening all!

Ok, issue 19 not dropping today has simply made me insane with toying on my dark/ss brute. I have copied below my 2 builds and was wondering what you thought may be better. The first build is what I am running on test and I have to admit he is rather crazy fun. The second build is a tinkering build but wondering if it would be worth it to softcap to S/L instead of my 40% defense to melee.

By the way, both builds are on the modified mids to include inherent fitness. I believe Leandro posted this modified version.

I would go with the second build, but I would also swap Air Superiority for Hasten and slot Brawl or Boxing with Kinetic Combat. You'll keep the same amount of defense, but pick up 70% more global recharge.

I've heard people say that Footstomp will burn through endurance in a hurry if you don't slot it for end redux, so it's something to consider.

I assume you'll be using the Cardiac Alpha Slot because otherwise I doubt you are going to have the endurance to do much with this. Footstomp really needs some endurance love here, consider that you are going to be also going through Rage Crashes.

I dropped hasten because it wasnt worth the trade off in endurance management issues. I still have perma-rage but do not have to suffer the double crash of hasten + rage and watch my blue bar fall off the deep end.

Air Superiority is simply a preference. It gives the character a little more of that super strength flair, plus it is fun juggling adversaries while Footstomp recharges.

I am not as comfortable slotting for typed damage since I still havent seen it work quite as well as positional defense. I guess that is what testing is for but man that is a lot of coin to blow on a theory.
