I just want Spines (specifically the Quills damage aura) for Tankers.
-
Wow, this is great news. The build on my main (an Ice/Fire Tanker) is so tight that I could never get him an ancillary power pool without sacrificing power choices eleswhere. Now he'll finally be able to take Pyre Mastery or Mu Mastery for more AoE carnage. Woot!
-
If you take your Ice Tanker villain-side, some of the PPPs might interest you. Mu Mastery has Electrifying Fences and Ball Lightning for more AoE spammage. And Soul Mastery has Gloom, Darkest Night (foe -dmg, -tohit), and Dark Obliteration to offer.

My goal is to try to run an all-Tanker team event every Wednesday night (Eastern Time), which is usually free for me. However, sometimes I'm unable to due to real life stuff demanding my attention. But when I can run something, I'll always post a recruitment thread here in the Tanker forum.
Back on Topic: Got May 18th marked down! I'll try to be there for that TT. -
I went with Stone Melee for my own Elec Armor Tanker and haven't regretted the decision one bit. The stun/knockdown and knockdown mitigation from Fault and Tremor respectively does wonders for added survivability. Slot a Force Feedback: Chance for +Recharge in each and you can also get Energize and Power Sink back up that much faster.
I know that the one complaint about Stone Melee is its lackluster AoE damage. Thankfully, Elec Armor gives you some wiggle room to add in an ancillary powerset. I went with Pyre Mastery, and Fire Ball definitely helps to increase my Tanker's AoE damage output. -
Backup Radio: Anyone knnow what attacks the PPD Hardsuit pet has?
Hand Grenade: Does this do knockback or knockdown?
Med Pack: Is this an interruptible heal?
Thanks in advance for any answers! -
A big thanks from me to Black Scales, Phobiaman, and Xweych. Even though there were only four of us, we took on all of those Rikti and came out on top. And man was that a lot of fun--being completely surrounded and just spamming PBAoE's like crazy. So glad you guys came out tonight.
-
Two spots left if any last-minute Tankers want to sign up. Otherwise, I'll see the rest of you guys tonight. I'll be logged on a little bit early (by 7:45PM Eastern) to begin sending out invites and assembling the team.
It looks like we have a good looking bunch so far. The Rikti won't know what hit 'em! -
Can't you squeeze in Power Sink? After picking it up at level 26, all your end worries are pretty much over.

LEVEL 44+ ALL-TANKER TEAM - 3RD RESPEC TRIAL (+4/x8)
It looks like the difficulty level of TFs is adjustable again!
From the latest Patch Notes:
Quote:Let's dial the difficulty all the way up and fight wave after wave of level 54 Rikti. It should be pretty challenging, and at least it won't be a snooze fest like it is at the default (+0/x1) setting. And if we succeed, you'll be awarded 20 Reward Merits (and a Respec if you haven't done any trials before) plus whatever drops and Vanguard Merits you earn along the way. So if you're interested in joining, just post your Tanker's name, level, and powersets and I'll add you to the team roster. Thanks.Task Force Difficulty
Notoriety Settings will now affect Task Forces and Strike Forces as follows:
● Setting level to -1 will set level to +0 (not -1)
● Setting team size will affect spawn sizes accordingly
● "Allow Bosses" will always be enabled
● "Allow AVs" will always be enabled

A huge thank you to @Linea for such a fun AE Arc. I had a great time and several of tonight's battles were epic, with multiple aggro'd spawns and ambushes. Loved it!
And many grateful thanks from me to the following Tankers: Eternal-Shock, Gruumble, Ro'gan, Super Zeus, and Fumiki (honorary Tanker, lol). Glad you all came out. It was a blast teaming with you guys. And I hope to see you all next week. (I'll try to set something up again for next Wednesday.) -
The more the merrier. Glad to have you along, ORACLE. I'll put you down as Super Zeus for now, but feel free to bring whichever Tanker you want, including your SD/Elec. (Can never have too much Phalanx Fighting or Grant Cover.)
-
As usual, I'll be on by 7:45PM in the Peregrine Island AE Building to start sending out invites and assembling the team. So see you guys tonight!

I'd be interested in this. I've been on Controller-heavy PuGs before, but I've never been part of an all-Controller superteam. Sounds like wicked fun. Anyway, I'll keep an eye on this thread for further developments.

Quote:I remember reading that Nihilii was able to solo an AV with his Shield Defense/Dark Melee Tanker. And here's an old (partial) quote of his that I found on the subject:What does it take for a tanker to beat up an AV/GM? I have read that it is possible but have seen no hint as to what powerset combo was used. Their damage output is lower than a scrapper and they don't have any powers to kill regen so I'm wondering what it takes?
Quote:You need over 95 DPS to solo an even level AV without any resistances, as they regen 95hp/s. However, ideally you want much more than that to account for resistances, heals, tier9s and stuff. 150 is a good value to shoot for... as long as it's not S/L damage. Bringing me to my next point : AVs have much more S/L resistance than the average joe. I've got a 190 DPS S/L damage scrapper and a 170 DPS Negative damage tanker, the tanker can solo AVs the scrapper can't.
The two best tanker attack powersets for the task are, in my opinion, fire melee and dark melee. The others don't seem to come close. Ideally, you also want damage boosts from your primary. Shield is your best bet if you keep foes around to increase your damage output with AaO. Note DM also benefits from fodder with Soul Drain, hence I believe Shield/DM is the ideal pairing for DM.
If you'd rather fight one on one, Fire and Ice seem to have damage auras and other great tools - granted, I don't speak from experience for these two powersets, just looking at it on paper. Burn looks like great DPA for tankers, as I don't think AVs run from it, and Fiery Embrace is always good to have, especially if you go Fire Melee.
As for Ice, Energy Absorption should take care of all your end issues, allowing you to slot more aggressively towards recharge, accuracy or damage through procs (normal damage at 95% being a given for any combo). -
Definitely play whichever Tanker would be the most fun for you. WP/Stone would be a fine addition. And I'll make sure to list him in place of your Fire/Ice. What's his name though?
-
Just a quick update. There are two spots left if any other Tankers are interested. And @Linea (the arc's author) will be joining us so make sure to bring your A-game.
-
I'm just wondering how much AoE it will have...

ALL-TANKER TEAM - CATHAN'S REVOLT (+4/x8)
So this is a 4-mission AE arc that plays like a Task Force. In fact, the author describes it as a tougher version of the Imperious TF. To me, that sounds like a fun challenge to bring an all-Tanker team to, especially since it's Cimerorans with all of their defense debuffs.
Anyway, I don't expect this arc to take the full two hours but if it does and you can't stay longer, it's perfectly fine if you have to leave. This is open to any level 22+ Tankers though if you're not level 50, be aware that you'll be fighting +5s. If you're interested in joining, just post your Tanker's name, level, and powersets and I'll add you to the team roster. Thanks.

● Sidekicks are welcome. However, due to the difficulty of this arc, it's highly recommended that your Tanker be at least level 22 (and slotted with SOs) by the time of this event.
● If you want to participate but can't stay for the full two hours, join anyway and just leave whenever you have to. This may not take that long anyhow. -
Quote:No apologies necessary. Real life always takes precedence, and there's always next time. Many apologies for not being able to make it
. There was a schedule change at work, and I have to study for a possible promotion.
Anyway, congrats on your possible promotion!
Glad you had fun and it was great teaming with ya, Gruumch. And I think I already know what to do for the next get together (muhaha). I'll try to have a recruitment thread posted for it by tomorrow or Saturday. -

Despite having a good turnout for the first two all-Tanker team events I've set up, my luck ran south this time. Several people couldn't make it so it was just me and Kold Phyre. He was a very good sport about it though and still wanted to give the TF a whirl so we duo'd as much of it as we could. I kept my setting at +2/x8 but put it to "no AVs." Unfortunately, it didn't downgrade the Heroes in the first mission to Elite Bosses so we ended up slugging it out with Swan and Valkyrie. Thankfully I had a Vanguard Heavy to assist with additional damage and a bit of -regen. To finally complete the mission we had to defeat Ms. Liberty (who thankfully was an EB) and find 5 annoyingly hard-to-see glowies.
The second mission was full of Arachnos which were surprisingly easier to handle than all of the Longbow from the first one. I think there were less bosses or something? (Multiple Longbow Wardens are a PITA btw!) However, we ran into an insurmountable AV roadblock named Viridian. He couldn't kill us but we couldn't overcome his regen either. I had already used up my Heavy and even the Shivans that I summoned couldn't quite push our DPS high enough. Anyway, by this point it was nearing 10pm so we called it quits. I still had a lot of fun and I hope Kold Phyre did too. He was great to have as a teammate. -
I'll be in the Peregrine Island AE Building around 7:45PM to start sending out invites and assembling the team. So see you guys tonight!
