Controller Superteam?

I was wondering if anyone has had any luck with an all or mostly controller Superteam either with SG mates or just with PUGS?
I kinda have an idea for my SG, but just wondering if anyone has tried this and what should be avoided?
Including myself, there'll be 4-6 people in my SG that'll be doing this on a regular basis. I already rolled an Ice/Cold.
Getting someone to be /emp, /kin and /rad would be my goal, then a mix of whatever else for the other players.

Thoughts?

I host/run semi regular All Controller TFs on Guardian. Not only are all controller teams viable..........they are CoH on easy mode, but tons of fun.

Pressure Cookers did/do this regularly. They are Fire/ or /Storm controllers.

I've done all fire/rad, ill/rad and earth/storm teams. The rad teams steamroll early with stacked AM. Storm comes into its own once everyone has Freezing Rain, then stoney just makes it laughable.

If you do this on Virtue, I'd gladly tag along though I'm set with my current SG. I've tossed together a few all controller pugs in the past, but it's not something that happens regularly.

We did an all controller team on Protector a while ago. All different powersets, no theme or synergy at all. Was a total blast. Ran the entire time on Invincible, hit every TF as soon as it opened up, fighting +4 mobs. Funnest part was just charging the platform on mission 3 of the ITF and taking Romulus and Requiem at the same time along with all their little buddies.

Mental Maden's All Controller TFs are a heck of a lot of fun . . . most are done very fast and quite easily -- and those are PUGs.

The second fastest team I have been on ever was a superteam of Illusion/Radiation controllers. 8xAM, 8 sets of PA (perma) and 8 Phantasms with Decoys . . . we just ran through missions letting our trailing pets destroy everything in seconds.

The fastest team is a team of Fire/Rads, using Hot Feet, Choking Cloud and Fire Imps. Again, 8xAM. 8x3 Fire Imps and 8 times stacked CC+HF . . . everything is instantly held and melts. I believe the speed record for the Statesman's TF was a team of 7 Fire/Rads and a Fire/FF (for tanking in PFF).

Rad, in particular, is very, very powerful when stacked a bunch of times. Stacked AM gives you huge amounts of Recovery, Recharge, Damage, run speed and mez resistance. No AV can stand up to a bunch of EM Pulses plus other AoE hold plus 8 single target holds plus 8 choking Clouds.

All controller teams are great! I thing they are better than any other team of all of one AT. I routinely play on all or controller heavy teams with usually defenders rounding out the team. Of course we'll let other ATs tag-a-long too.

Even on PuGs this week I've found myself on a lot of Controller heavy ones. Silliest in terms of buffs was a FF Defender, Illusion/FF, Grav/Kin, Ice/Kin and my Plant/Emp (who didn't know who to put Fort on since we were all so heavily buffed. Opted for the FFers). My defense was somewhere around 65% and Recharge was high enough for perma Creepers. And we were only level 29ish. The Tank was clever enough to start leapfrogging spawns and grabbing extra ones to keep himself occupied while we did horrid things to the ones behind.

* Last night was a little tamer. 3 controllers and 2 defenders I think, me, an Earth/TA, a Fire/Rad, a Sonic/DP and a Kin/Elec and it was still ridiculous. Tonnes of control and debuffage. Then I got map-served for some reason (think the RWZ crashed, couldn't get back in)

Teams on Virtue at the times I play have really shifted from tonnes of DPers to tonnes of Control and Support in the last 3 weeks or so.

I've become enamored with my Fire/TA controller again. I bet an all Controller all /Trick Arrow team would be good silly fun. The lack of heals and such would make it "interesting" and the control would be massive. Hey, it wouldn't be nearly as awesome as 8 Fire/Rads, but what is?

My first 50 came from an Earth/*mainly Storm superteam. It was tons of fun.

Here's a video.

And another.

Kind of silly, but it was a lot of fun. I've also been on an Ill/Rad superteam, but very boring. AM + Pets, then wait for them to kill the spawn while doing seemingly useless ST attacks...blah.

We are going to be doing this on Freedom. So if anyone has a troller on freedom and wants to join us, we should be starting it up within the next week or so... I'll keep you posted. I'm @bothsides
Loved those videos Square_One!!

Also, if you wanna put your troller in our SG for this, we are called 'LIKE A BOSS'... which will be fitting for an all troller superteam. Invitation is open.

Also... Since I'm sticking with my Ice/Cold troller.. any thoughts as to the importance of us taking secondaries with shields? I figure it would be good for the pets, especially is anyone has Rocky.
But it could also help for that person who might be taking an alpha hit.

With an all controller team, unless you are up against a big nasty AV alpha is pretty irrelevent as long as the team is in pretty good sync.

Point taken. Not to Mention, pets should be slotted pretty well once we get up against the really difficult AV's.

Sure it would be with each controller putting out the equivalent of 15% defense to all postions by using smoke and flash arrow.

True I suppose. Not to mention 8 Acid Arrows and 8 Disruption Arrows and 8 Hot Feet. I stand corrected.

Wouldn't 8 Poison Gas Arrows be more useful than trying to apply 16 minor ToHit debuffs?

What's the -Damage cap?*

I'd be interested in this. I've been on Controller-heavy PuGs before, but I've never been part of an all-Controller superteam. Sounds like wicked fun. Anyway, I'll keep an eye on this thread for further developments.

There is no "tanking" on a fire/rad team. The /FF exception was made for mez protection primarily. The team TTPd around as one unit, no tanking needed.

It's simpler than that...all you have to do is have everyone on the team slot Flash Arrow with a little bit of -tohit, and only use that. Slotted with 25% enhancement, that is enough for 8 members to reach the -tohit cap (at 45%) for the spawn. It's unresistible, so it also will get to that cap for AV's. It's what we did on an all TA/ defender team I ran (we didn't have to slot Flash Arrow though). Sure, throw in Poison Gas for AV's, since their damage when it gets through could still be bad.

No point in adding Smoke. It's resistible anyway.

Also, Flash has a 10' bigger radius than PGA.

I thought the PFF tanking was only used for the AVs . . . Oh, well, I wasn't there, and only heard about it third hand. I have been on a team of Fire/Rads several times, and it is amazing. We tried the Team Teleport trick, but I wasn't impressed because Choking Cloud takes a few seconds to hit and we got hit a bunch before enough of CC's pulses hit. For us, it worked better to set up 4 sub-teams of two; have a sub-team of two folks use Flashfire + Fire Cages while everyone else ran in. Pause a few seconds while everything died, then the next sub-team of two would use FF+FC on the next group.

Want to feel useless? I was on my Kin/Elec Defender once, and some folks I knew were running their superteam of Fire/Rads. 7 Fire/Rads and me. The only thing I could do was speed boost them, and then run around following them past the piles of deceased foes. When we hit the AV, I think I got off one Transfusion and Transference before he dropped -- although the Transference may have been too late.
