With elude or fort a spines/sr can herd as good as anything in i7
[/ QUOTE ]
Well that's great, but it doesn't help you between levels 2 to 12 at the earliest, or 2 to 39 if you're not seeking outside assistance. I wouldn't have thought that using Elude as a herding tool was a particularly effective playstyle either... herd, herd, herd, wow this is great!, herd, herd, end crash, death.
If you're wanting to herd, I'd recommend /Regen (for survivability), or /Dark (for AoE dustbunny doom). SR can do it, but it's not really built for it. -
[ QUOTE ]
You've made your first mistake already, Barb Swipe instead of Lunge.
[/ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
I currently have taken, Barb swipe, Lunge and build up from primary
[/ QUOTE ]
Way to read, Jobo.
Barb Swipe isn't a bad attack for a Spines/SR. It's a low-end filler attack that serves its purpose right up until the point where you can respec it out and slot other attacks with SOs - it's certainly a better option than Spine Burst, seeing as SR isn't the best set for herding until SOs at earliest, until 35 realistically, and in all likelihood: never. -
I won't be around at any particular time, as I live on a weird schedule. Feel free to give me a shout if you want an extra Dom on board when you hit the right level ranges, as I have a Mind/Ice (RSF) Dominator at around 24/5, and a Grav/En at 16 on Union; a Plant/Fire at about 4ish on Defiant; and a largely untouched Ice/Psi on Vigilance.
I lack slots. -

This is from my chat log from a /whoall so not everyone is listed about the time people started leaving
[/ QUOTE ]
Huh, guess Aphotica and Antithetix were still on hide from Nuke gathering.
Pretty even numbers, though. -
[ QUOTE ]
There was me thinking the majority of the best players had all gone over to the Rogue Isles.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, I don't like to brag, but...

[ QUOTE ]
Having only 1 defender for 30+ players is also a recipe for disaster, no matter how good i am.
[/ QUOTE ]
Agreed, lack of support was a major factor - no number of Regens was going to save you in the face of all the debuffs and status effects that were being thrown your way. It was really enjoyable for a good half hour, before the exodus of heroes started - nothing quite gets the adrenaline going like being in control of 4 gun turrets whilst a line of heroes are standing (and falling) trying to get your squishy *** out of there. I also got a decent level of amusement from -Jumping everyone from my hovering position. -

To filth - sorry, i don't post on the forums much and I dont go trawling through every single board, page and post to see whats what. Thanks for the link but still dude, chill out.

What part of his post was un-chilled? -

I think it's safe to say that Paragon's best and brightest were utterly trounced. Regen scrappers, Stone tanks in perma-granite, the odd occasional suicidal Kineticist ( ), all were steamrollered into the ground in the face of the teeming Arachnos swarm.
We must do that again sometime. -
I'll bring my MM to make any HO'd-out scrappers wish they'd stayed Stateside.

What's with this "trying" business?
But yeah, Antithetix is currently 2 for 2 to the good with RSF runs - and in the unlikely event that a nuke run gets called for, I have technician clearing down to a fine art. -
If this post is to be believed, anyway.
Any villains out there wanting to make life a touch more interesting for our heroic counterparts? -
[ QUOTE ]
First question is, do i need stamina?
[/ QUOTE ]
Wholly depends on playstyle - but seeing as you've got Darkest Night, Shadowfall, Leadership Pool and Hasten - not to mention Empty Clips - I'd edge towards "yes", if you want to actually be able to use any of those powers.
[ QUOTE ]
2nd question, i dont know what to take at L35, the iv got 3 ideas but im not sure.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'd always advise picking up Howling Twilight - not just a good team power, but a great debuff. In the course of normal team play, I'll probably use HT 20 times more as a mez/debuff/opener, than I do an ally rez.
[ QUOTE ]
Also i have no idea about epics (L41+) coz iv never gotten a villain past 40. I plan to team/solo pve, then respec to pvp at 50
[/ QUOTE ]
If you're planning to PvP, you'll probably either want Black Scorpion for the +Def shield and -Fly, -Jump Mace powers, or Scirocco for the shield (which stacks nicely with Shadowfall).
[ QUOTE ]
For soloing big mobs my game plan is this:
1) Activate leadership/hasten/hover.
2) Send in Pets (gang war included for bosses and large mobs).
3) Lay down Tar Patch and activate Darkest Night.
4) Use Petrifying Gaze then Fearsome Stare.
5) Hover over battle using Empty Clips to attack and Twilight Grasp to heal.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'd suggest using Fearsome Stare/Howling Twilight as opener, with Bodyguard enabled > Twilight Grasp any damage taken > Tar Patch > Darkest Night (if necessary) > Petrifying Gaze your anchor. By this point, everything should be dead/almost dead anyway, and you can probably leave your pistolas where they are. Hovering over mobs isn't recommended for a /Dark - hovering over your minions is far superior, as it enables you to get the best use of Twilight Grasp (which has a very small radius for an MM). -
[ QUOTE ]
Nobody neuters Regen Scrappers more than some Corrupters.
[/ QUOTE ]
And a smattering of MMs. -
[ QUOTE ]
Unless you're taking it for PvP purposes Damage will do more for you than Slow in Caltrops. In PvE the basic -Speed is enough.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'd never consider slotting Caltrops for Damage, what a waste that would be. That said, you'll more likely want Recharges in Caltrops, and a Slow for facing reds and purples who would otherwise skip over them. -
[ QUOTE ]
after doing RSF 6 times i can safely say, that MMs primary set is totally useless against FP and serve no purpouse what so ever...
unfortunately this means we know can confirm 2 gimped ATs against RSF (even tho we had 1 of both in this team lol) Stalkers and MMs.
[/ QUOTE ]
Having run the RSF two-for-two as an MM, I don't think that the MM AT is gimped at all - you just have to adapt your playstyle to the task.
I agree that, in the main, MMs' primaries are the least important role they play. For the initial runs against the Vindicators and the FP, my bots were nothing but cannon fodder - but that was useful enough when combined with bodyguard. I switched into a role as debuffer (being /Dark) and was pretty damned effective; when I dropped in fighting the FP, my absence was definitely noticeable. As soon as we whittled down enough Heroes - and my bots started staying alive - their damage (and -regen) was also a great benefit.
As such, I think the 'best' MMs for the RSF are probably /Dark, /Poison, /TA, /FF and /Traps in that order - though as you've mentioned elsewhere, a player who knows his/her AT inside and out is more important than what they're playing, for this SF. -
[ QUOTE ]
Personally I've got 5 Hami-Os which I have accumulated over the last 17 months...Bludd has gotten 5 in 2 months...anyone but me see a small imbalance here?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yep, time to nerf BJB.
Seriously, I'd be very surprised if we weren't to see a similar end-game SF for CoH in either I8 or I9. -
[ QUOTE ]
1) Is teleport for for useful for pulling to mines and if so what are the chances of pulling an awkward mob such as a boss, or malta sapper onto the mines?
[/ QUOTE ]
As others have said: great for minions, poor for anything else.
[ QUOTE ]
2) How good is the auto turret? Is it worth getting recall friend to move it about?
[/ QUOTE ]
AT was my main way of soloing Invincible Malta missions; Recalling AT into the path of a Gunslinger/Zeus Titan, then Beanbag+Taser, Web Grenade, Ignite, WG, Ignite, WG... so on.
[ QUOTE ]
3) Is ignite any good in teams? Any tactical uses for it?
[/ QUOTE ]
Web Grenade+Ignite is your highest DPS attack chain. It has great use against AVs and tough bosses alike.
[ QUOTE ]
4) Is hasten required for mine laying or can 3 recharges keep the laying managable?
[/ QUOTE ]
I'd hate to go mine-laying without it, but I'm used to PvP. How patient are you?
[ QUOTE ]
5) Can I get away with not slotting Accuracy into my attacks at a high level if I run targetting drone constanly?
[/ QUOTE ]
Not really, but that does depend on your difficulty level.
[ QUOTE ]
6) Any particularly useful powers for an AR/Dev blaster from the various pools?
[/ QUOTE ]
Hasten, TP Foe & Recall Friend.
[ QUOTE ]
7) Stamina: Is it essential when running targeting drone and cloaking device all the time?
[/ QUOTE ]
It's essential if you want to use your AoEs... and you want to use your AoEs.
[ QUOTE ]
8) Is it wise to slot attacks for range over either recharge or endurance reduction?
[/ QUOTE ]
Not really, unless you're aiming to do something specific in PvP. In PvE, you're always going to get outranged by mobs from the mid-20s upwards.
[ QUOTE ]
9) Is time bomb useful or is it too unreliable for regular use?
[/ QUOTE ]
It takes a lot of effort to make it work. 9 times out of 10, there are better solutions available... but it is a fun power.
[ QUOTE ]
10) Is smoke grenade useful for stealthing and how big is the -to hit on it?
[/ QUOTE ]
It's decent in the right hands as a -perc power, but the -ToHit is utterly dire.
[ QUOTE ]
11) Will cloaking device allow me to stealth missions or will I need either stealth or SS as well?
[/ QUOTE ]
You can't use Stealth and Cloaking Device. CD + Smoke Grenade works well enough, although CD + SS does work most effectively. -
[ QUOTE ]
Women find a way to counter. Such as teaming with a stormie and pwning everyone who happened to walk by
[/ QUOTE ]
Or by changing characters every five minutes. -
[ QUOTE ]
Try in a different time slot?
It's the only way (other than organizing an event) that easily changes who is there and consequently how things play out.
[/ QUOTE ]
Due to the hours I work, I'm always in on a different time. On the rare occasions more than one or two people are in there, I see the behaviour I've described - be that in the early afternoon, evening, late at night, or 3 in the morning. -
[ QUOTE ]
I was chasing him???? you mean 'you and ya team of 8 when it came to you fighting our team a 5peoplesorry mate but i aint up for ganking.
[/ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
I was chasing him? you mean ya team of 8chasing me? when it came to 8of your team v our team of 4 with no empath
[/ QUOTE ]
What was it - a team of 4, or a team of 5? -
[ QUOTE ]
Archery really isn't that great, the only real advantage it has is that it has the most powerful single target non-snipe blast for defenders, although the single target attack chain is better than both Energy and Electricity.
[/ QUOTE ]
I must admit to being surprised at how much damage my TA/Arch Defender can kick out in the lower levels, noticeably helped by the +acc. No idea if that'll hold true later on, but I wouldn't discount it out of hand. -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
Whatever you do, go /psiiiiiiiii....
[/ QUOTE ]
I made a Dark/Psi and it seems to be ok. So i might give that a run.
[/ QUOTE ]
Can't go wrong with Dark/Psi, it's great fun - especially when you pick up TK Blast, and start playing the "Knock-the-loose-mob-onto-the-Tar-Patch" game. -
[ QUOTE ]
Perhaps the no one-shot only applies up to lvl 53 - am I right in thinking that this is the only time in the game you see a lvl 54 enemy?
[/ QUOTE ]
Being picky, but the Pillboxes in RV are level 54 Bosses.
I'm pretty sure that the one-shotting patch does apply to the RSF Heroes - up until that moment, I'd been saved by it on numerous occasions. I just think it "hiccups" on some attacks, or under certain conditions - though I have no idea how to identify what those might be, or how to go about recreating them. Not many teams on the RSF will be willing to wait as you practice being one-shotted in varied situations. -
[ QUOTE ]
Plus Salome dinged 50 during that fight. A true classic.
[/ QUOTE ]
I hope I can ding 50 like that one day.I, being as eloquent and composed as ever, managed to mash out "GRAST" inbetween Twilight Grasping and dropping another Tar Patch.
-
[ QUOTE ]
You experiences do not match mine on Union.
[/ QUOTE ]
In that case, I hope to have your luck next time I'm in Warburg. -

And much like some of the other people in this thread, it would appear that Power Boost in the Energy Manip secondary AND NOT THE CONTROLLER EPIC needs a nerf, possibly in the way of not having a +heal component.
[/ QUOTE ]
Fixed. Leave my controllers Power Boost alone! It's not quite so game-breaking as /EMs since we don't get it until level 47.
[/ QUOTE ]
Kinda my point, in a roundabout way. Nerfing Aid Self alone would result in Controller and Defender Power Boost on the chopping block, due to /En Manip Power Boost's would-be glaring advantage. A swift adjustment to /EMs Power Boost, however, would remove most of the problems complained about in this thread.
