Hi and welcome to the D & V S Official Thread,

Purpose of the thread is to allow us to:

Organise Events & Raids
Communicate Ideas (inc ideas for base items)
Hurl abuse... oh no wait we do that anyway

To start us off a couple of ideas I have (and they're only ideas - I'm after feedback from the SG members on this!)

ORGANISATION:

As we're growing (in fact are creaking at the seams) we need to make sure we have room for all our active players. To achieve that I'd like to suggest that we set it so that players who haven't been on for 15 days get bumped if we need to make a space (with an email being sent to tell them they're welcome back on their return!)

Additionally I think we need a bit more organisation so I would suggest we try to limit or even reduce the number of overlords we have and change the permissions to be a bit more reflective of peoples ranks...

EVENTS:

Strike Forces and Respecs: I'm happy to run teams to do at least 1 of each a week. Don't mind which one people want. I'm sure others will also be happy to run some.

Raids: Now we have a raid-capable base we should look for as many opportunities to raid and be raided as possible. So far we've been raided 3 times and raided another base once - All been good fun and thanks to the other SGs for participating. Any group fancying a raid please let me know here or in game (@Cold Spark)

THE BASE:

Now that we have a nice little base my ideas for next purchases are:

Bigger Energy Room - to allow for Medium Generator and shields - Cost: 750k for the room and 1Mill to place Genny I think. Should take a couple of weeks but that's not bad really. That then opens the doorway (as we can't have doors ;p) For other things.

Think that's the lot....

Lets have some feedback - after all the group is its members collectively.

Hello all,

Our own thread! feel the excitement.....okay thats enough of that so down to business.

Just thought that i would add to Colds post by updating people on the current state of the SG.

It would seem that for the time being at least, the founders, Lady Doom and Scarlet Vengeance have left us. This means that we have sort of inherited the SG by default and it is now our responsibility to help keep us going forward to maintain our reputation as the best SG on CoV (i'm not sure we have one but dammit if we dont we should).

Cold and Myself have come up with a number of POSSIBLE ideas to help keep us running smoothly;

we currently have a very high demand for entry and no room (as Cold stated in his post). As well as the 15 day rule we were thinking of trying to keep down the number of alts people can have in the SG. If a member who plays regularly gets to 40 and want to start a new alt then of course they will be more than welcome, but we would like to avoid a situation where players have multiple low lvl alts. Also, if you try a character and lose interest in them (we've al done it) then please remove them from the SG to make room for new members.

Dont forget that we are coalitioned to several other good SGs, so if you are an altaholic (see you at the meeting) try signing up for one of those instead so you can still have access to our wonderful base while freeing up room for new members.

Could all players under lvl 25 and those at lvl 40 please make sure they are playing in SG mode so that we can collect prestige without any infamy loss to you. We know that money is tight in CoV so those between those lvls may operate outside of SG mode. Also remember that the higher lvls in the SG are there to help the lower characters, by LKing (not PLing – we aren’t that kind of SG, everyone must pull their own weight) by giving infamy/advice etc. so feel free to ask for help when you need it.

Ok thats it for now, lets keep this thread alive, this is your place for your views, so dont be shy and tell us what you think, be gentle! ;p

Hi DoVS!

Since I dont have any contact with you lot in-game, I would like to take the oppurtunity to reach out at your thread.

As you may (or may not) have heard I'm organizing the 'Union Leaders' Global Channel, where I try to gather up all bigger SG-leaders. At this point I think we got aprox. 20-25 larger SGs represented. This is mainly a Forum for SG-leaders to exchange info, knowledge and tips regarding anything that involves in leading an SG. This will also be an efficient tool in organizing events later on (as a villain version of a hamidon-raid).

As I have seen your name at the top of the SG-rankings, I feel that even your SG should be represented in this global channel. For an Invite, please have your SG-leader (or one selected member that is in charge for base-construction) contact me at the global handel: @.Dr Death
Im online pretty much, so it wont be long till u catch me online

I hope that you are interested in joining a good idea, and a usuefull tool for your SG!

So how did the base raid go yesterday?

Posted

Well we won of course

It was a bonefide [censored]-whooping too. We won all the raids as both defenders and attackers with (as far as i remember) only one loss in any of the battles.

In fact it started to get a tad embarrassing as we encountered no serious resistance - we outgunned, outfought and outclassed all our enemies, so well done us

Well having seen you all obliterate anything in PvE, I am not really surprised.

Hey guys,

All sounds good to me.

Especially teams for respecs/tf's, having been involved with 2 failed respec's yesterday with pick up teams. I'd be quite happy to muck in and help out.

Also, how about a regular meeting in our lovely base to discuss all these sort of things? Assuming we aren't trashing someone elses base in a raid at the time of course.

'tis I, Blacky. Just like to say the raid was fun, especially gutting people who wandered around through my watch zone =)

Scarlet was on a cxouple of days ago... briefly =)

I will say that my alt is only in there so i dont miss anything when i'm badgehunting and to earn prestige in the old coffers. He can be kicked when i have used him for all his purpouses +0

Hey Guys, Todays update

Base:

Redesigned the layout last night - and not its not because I love the editor - far from it! Hopefully now its easier to navigate whilst still defensible.

All fuctional items are in and we have our new larger power room ready for the bigger generator (I'd guess middle of next week at current prestige rate)

Decorations will be done tonight.

Events:

Am available to run a SF / Respec tonight - whatever has the most demand - let me know in SG channel later.

Raids:

No luck finding anyone to raid us yet but I'm hearing a couple of other groups are nearly raid-ready so hopefully we'll get more takers soon.

Cyas all tonight.

Hello all again,

Just a few notes to add to Cold's earlier post;

Firstly we are still currently tweaking the base in the hopes to make it as defendable as possible. We are doing this by trying to have the rooms with the important and expensive items coming off of the main room (the tp room). This should mean that we will be able to easily see and access the vault, medbay, workshop, raid TP, generator and control room all from the central hub.

The defence turrets will be set up to guard the vault and generator (and hopefully the medbay in future as it seems to get targetted).

Secondly we were hoping to set up some PvP practice sessions. This could take the form of skirmishes in PvP zones or arena battles, in teams and free for all. This will allow us all to practice our tactics for tackling a variety of ATs and powersets as well as enabling the more experiences PvPers to pass on thier knowledge. Please leave a post if this appeals to you, the more interest we get the more likely it is to happen

I realise this all seems a bit serious and all militaryish....but in future we will be taking part in real raids and the stuff that gets smashed will have to be bought again (as it stands now, though this may change).

Thirdly, we are thinking of altering the SG rankings...this will mean far fewer overlords (whats the point of an overlord is everyone is one? ) and adding more meaningful lower ranks. Things like an elite rank, and a veteran one for those at lvl 40.....feedback on this please as it's all in the early planning stages at the moment.

Also due to the high demand for spaces we will need to be more considered in our invites. I thought perhaps it would be a good idea to have prospective members join an SG team for kind of a try-out. I'm not thinking a written exam here, just a chance to evaluate their teamwork, control, tactics and battle awareness. By this i dont mean can they take out 3 mobs of +3's with one hand tied behind thier backs (though this is always a plus of course :P) just that they know where they fit into a team and know what they are doing and more importantly what not to do. Hopefully this will lessen the need to kick people later, which no-one likes.

Ok thats all for now...wow i never intend to post so much but it always ends up that way

Cyas all tonight...well in about 5 mins actually

Just had a idea.. what about creating a second SG?? i mean we can still have the main, but maybe make a second one for a support SG and maybe a place for creating a new bad [censored] SG like the demons now

A second SG is always a possibility, but for moment we are concentrating on making DVS the best SG out there (i know my poor litle mind is only capable of so much organisation :P)

Hopefully with some new recruitment measures and some careful control of alt numbers we can turn DVS into an SG where most of the members are on for a good portion of the time (we are very elite after all )

Hi all im liking the Thread. I think thats a good idea to form a extra SG for new people and alts and to run them as one. Plus it will de good practice for raids if we can practice against our allies.

We are the Arch-Villains off CoV but maybe we should remember to play the game for the game, not because we have 2.. well that sounded stupid, but u know what i mean.. and if u dont.. well

Bad news guys, this VG you're so proud of is going to crumbling down around you on Thursday night. Just spoke to Cold Spark/Two Fist and he's foolishly agreed to let the Bloodline stage a raid against you.

Muahahaha

Hmmm...interesting

I think i shall reserve jusdement on that until thursday night. We have equipped ourselves fantastically well in all our raids thus far, continuing our unbeaten track record tonight by again successfully defending ourselves.

Clearly this will be our greatest challenge to date but i have every faith in the ability and visciousness of our merry band of cutthroats.

Now to the most important news, the base is finished as of now (2am btw ) and all the finishing touches have been added. I have just spent several hours decorating it, tackling numerous (and i mean that) mapserver crashes along the way and i happen to think it looks pretty damn good, but please all go and have a look and give me some feedback. Be honest....but please remember i'm now very tired, and prone to suden outbursts of really quite appalling violence...so be nice

Morning All,

Thanks & Gratz to Kitty - base looking absolutely top notch!

Base:
As mentioned - new layout is now complete. For those who didn't raid last night (2 more wins an thanks again to our opponents) and the new layout seems to allow us to pounce on the enemy very quickly - nothing like killing stalkers before they even get a chance to hide

Raid:
As Kinslayer has kindly mentioned :P Bloodline are losing to, sorry..... raiding us on Thursday. 7:30 pm kick off guys so meet up about 7:15 to set teams. As many peeps as we can would be great. Thanks to Bloodline for challenging and I hope its a good match

Events:

I like Kitty's PvP training idea. Deffo a winner and could be good fun. I'm not going to be on tonight (Hold the front page - Sparky in RL shocker!) but I'm sure you'll amuse yourselves

Friday Night - SF night methinks.... Post the one you'd most like to do... Flam u seemed to like the SG one I

As for the idea of a second SG - I've toyed with the idea and like the potential for having a group to raid ourselves with - only downside is it diverts prestige earning from the main event We're not totally full yet (I see about 6 bods who would fall into the "inactive" category at the moment so if we need spaces I think we have them).

I second Kittys point about being a little tougher on new starters in terms of making sure they fit our dynamic - that's the most important things - we have a really friendly (and TOTALLY depraved) atmosphere at the moment and I value that above all else.

Anyway - enough yapping from me - I've got a couple of hours b4 I go to work so I'm gonna go earn some Prestige.

TTFN.

Ok so as sparky wont be around tonight (that even sounds strange) i was wondering if anyone needs to run a respec.

If so i will put together a team tonight.

Thats all for now...ciao

Meh! meh! and thrice meh!

Evening guys - while you're all out earning lots of prestige for me to waste... sorry spend in the base I'm stuck at work... So I thought I'd make the time productive and give some clues as to what you can expect to see next in the base and when this might happen.

Now that we've just bought the larger power room we have space for the Medium Generator (increasing our Power generated from 1000 to a nice 2500). This is an item we build from salvage (of which we have lots - After Aberrant and Alien tech btw - will trade other SGs for it if they have any) but need 1.7 mil of prestige to place (damn expensive installation engineers!)

"So once we have more power we can fit the uber-gun of doooooom right Sparky?"

Sadly not my young padawan. For with great power comes great responsibility... or in fact a need for great control (control! control! you must learn control!) The next level of supercomputer (the upgrade from the Spectrum ZX to the mighty Amiga 500) will again be a salvage build (again got all that stuff) but will need a measly 2 mil to pop in the base (plus 170k for a room I think)

"So now can we have the guns Sparky? please please?"

Err no.
Well actually yes. Kinda. We could put 2 larger guns in place of the 2 little fellas we have at the moment (thats you Xip and Roasty ) But a) they wouldn't have the same comedic value as the above mentioned honorable members and b) we should probably save for a secure base which will allow our every surface to bristle with nastines.... Yes the tickling stick from hell could well get an outing yet.

That aside my willpower will more than likely crumble when presented with a chance to stick a big gun in the base ("hmm are you compensating for anything here Sparky?") which hopefully a good beating from Kitty (god willing) will get me through.

So - drifting slowly back to topic Say 2 weeks for the new generator, 3 more for the Control then 1 for the guns or a couple of months for the Secure room...

That is of course unless better judgement prevails and the Devs up the amount of prestige.... go on Bridger, whisper sweet nothings in Statesman's ear for us.... you know you want to... In fact given a pound is 1.7877 to the USD at the moment I really think that us Union players should earn at 1.7 times the rate of our US compatriots with their slightly dodgy economy

Ok shutting up now... Cyas all either late tonight or tomorrow for the raid.

wow sparky you really ARE a weirdo

You see this is why i let you handle all the technical stuff...i was asked by someone earlier if i could just stick an ignighter in that he had made...my answer was "er...no because you see the thing...with the wotsit...well you see it's all about the thingamajig..." etc etc.

End of the day...you stick it in and i'll fiddle with it. er hang on that came out kinda wrong....what i mean to say is i dont know, nor do i care to know how you make these things, just that they look pretty is enough for me

Oh and btw you didn't factor into your little equation my dungeon of ultimate sin....you promised me that sparky and i'm gonna hold you to it or by god there'll be trouble

Ok back on topic (did i even have one?) things look to be coming along nicely, the base looks good and all that we need at the moment is present, so i'm looking forward to the raid tomorrow.

While i'm here i thought i might post a couple of little tips/reminders about base raid tactics;

1) as tempting as it is to hunt down any invader you see to get the kill all up close and personal like (guilty party here) we must remember that the base as a whole is our priority and if several defenders pounce on a raider...we should leave them to it and watch for his sneaky little friends. We used the distraction technique ourselves to great advantage in our one attacking raid so far and i'd hate for our opposition to gank us with it

2) buffing of the turrets by any means we have is a great idea and not to be forgotten. It seems to me that the turrets have a greater perception than we do (just anecdotal evidence) so things like forge on the turrets should help a great deal...plus flaming guns of death just look cool

3) Dont let them taunt you Having come face to face with several old friends from CoH during raids i can attest to near overwhelming urge to hunt them down and laugh over thier broken and mangled corpse.....but don't let that distract you from his sneaky stalker friend coming up behind you to give yo a quick trip to the medbay

4) it really is far too late for all this strategy stuff (i'm just paranoid about all our lovely stuff getting smasked up in a real raid ) so i'm going to bed...ciao!
