    B) Historically whenever the Devs release a "pre-download" it pretty much always means the next big Patch/Issue it applies to goes live roughly 2-3 weeks later.

These two data points seem to match up with each other fairly nicely. Based on the Devs' tendency to release things on Tuesdays I would expect the Strike Pack to happen on either February 1st, 8th or the 15th.
The Valentine's event ought to start in 2 weeks.

Really, I think what you mean is that you only sell when the price is temporarily higher than usual. If absolute price were the issue, you'd probably think those IO's were worth keeping even if the price tripled.

If you sell at a temporarily high price, then you know you can always buy the item back later, and have both the item, and the money.
Nope. I wrote what I meant and I meant what I wrote. I mean X's price relative to the average of stuff I want to buy. I already have plenty and can easily get more of most IOs except for purples and PvPs so my sales are mindful of savings towards those.

I would rather have them rotting in my SG bin than throw yet another 25M on these characters just in case I roll a new character later who can use them. But if their price was a greater percentage of the purples I will be looking for later, then I would sell them.

The Market often has me thinking along those lines. We went 3 years without it and now are closing in on the 4th year with it.

VEATs seem old now and they aren't 3 years old yet.

All that really seems new to me are the additions in the last year.

Too many people don't want to think when they watch TV.

[edit] it occurred to me that may have come off as a dig but I meant that in the sense that gameshows, wrestling and comedies are easy to watch because you don't need to pay attention.

That is why we get quirky detectives in detective shows to keep people's attention.

On the down side, I have no idea of the hardware requirements for DCUO but I do know that this game requires more powerful hardware than WoW. I hope your computer can handle it.
That other game has a little higher requirements but its single biggest problem is some ATI video cards which work here will not work there.

  8. I am hoping Natalie Portman wins so she can get a bust on Conan's wall of 'f' bomb dropping Oscar winners.

I still need to see True Grit but Jeff Bridges is one of my favorite actors so it would be fun to see him win.

I had always thought that sellers preferred to receive higher prices than lower prices. I guess that's not a universal case.
I think though we need to exclude insane people. If someone wants less for their IOs they could just go give them away.

As I just posted in another thread, I am not selling my good stuff because the current prices don't entice me to do so.
  10. I haven't been selling my low level special IOs because I have started slotting them.

For example last night in my Freedom base I found about 6 KB prots and Steadfast Res/Def IOs. I debated listing them but decided I would rather gleemail them to my alts.

With people paying 500k - 1M for commons it takes a pricey payday for me to list my good stuff.
  11. I'm down to 150-175 hours of play time to 50 mostly soloing. But one of my first characters took me almost 700 hours.

I would expect if I teamed and ran Task Forces I could get that down to around 100 so theoretically this weekend with 2XP I could get one there in 50 hours if I could get 50 hours to play.

I always thought the invisible plane was silly until the recent animated movie where she gets it from Owlman(?) in the alternate Earth. At least in that one you didn't see her sitting in the air flying around.
  13. 1. Level 40 for heroes at launch. 50 was added in Issue 1. Level 40 for villains at CoV's launch and level 50 was added for them in Issue 7.

    That's no fun!

I suggest we offer up our own suggestions.

In that light I submit Rhona Mitra since she was on his Boston law shows. I'd give her about a 1% chance to actually get the part but I still throw her name out there.
  15. I look forward to see what he has in mind and hope it succeeds because I like superhero shows to succeed even if I am not interested in watching each and every one of them.

In the meantime it provides a lot of fodder for humor like blending Wonder Woman, Ally McBeal and Boston Legal.

If he'd put out an essay on the subject (as he has been known to do - reference his "Why video games will never be art") I think that his point would have come across better and less offensively. You can disagree with his conclusions, but he usually makes a valid argument, and I suspect he would have in this case.

Ebert does great reviews. I don't always agree with him, but I can usually tell whether I will like a movie based on his reviews.

And, unlike some reviewers, he is candid about why he doesn't care for some movies - he will reference news stories or political issues when talking about his view of a movie. His viewings don't occur in a vacuum, and he admits it.
That was why I always liked Siskel and Ebert reviews. They explained them and once I got to know them then I'd know if I would like a movie based on their feedback about it. It got somewhat uncomfortable a few times when they disagreed strongly but it was always helpful for me to know if I'd want to see a movie or not.

Like when they both would go on about the artistry of a film, I knew I wouldn't be wanting to see it.

Yes, I'm not even talking about opinions, it's flatout wrong to ignore the changes in the world around you while claiming nothing should change because you don't.
Immunity to logic and reason is the cornerstone of all anti-market posters.

Now excuse me while I list another level 15 common IO at 25k and get 500k or more for it.

I sell nearly everything at 5 inf (including the only 2 purples I ever earned, one of which was a crap sleep one) and they still went for way more than that. One for around 50 million (this was back in i11 or so) and the crap one recently for 100,000 or so (it was the chance for placate )

So unless you're talking about setting up some form of off-market charity shop channel I cannot see your point (in fact I'm willing to bet that if you did try and sell a desirable Purple on a channel a bidding war would break out and you'd still end up with about the same price as via the Markets interface).
You probably see how the progression of the market hating will spiral off into odd never going to happen imaginary scenarios as people continue to try to shine light into the dark recesses of market hate "thought". The replies will get sillier and sillier as it follows its old patterns.

There does remain the very real possibility that the devs can implement a good feature in a bad place. This is one I would accept as being arguable. YMMV, of course. But if enough people feel it would make a better booster item or have expressed it in suggestion forums before it became a vet reward (both in this case), then maybe there's something there for the Devs to consider.

Hey, some of us are at least trying to meet halfway. I'm sure coming up with new rewards is a real pain in the ***, so offer an alternative power that's just a shade less as beneficial.
I wasn't all that concerned about the 81 month reward because it is something everyone can do in some form or another if not a self rez power then a wakie. It is a very nice vet reward with no downside.

However the 84 month reward is (for market lovers) a dream come true. And then as I realized it will also be a source of annoyance as people will ask them on teams to do it for them. I don't see them changing it at this point as a vet reward but I would love for them to make the same or similar functionality available to people without a vet reward. I also don't hold out much hope for that but I thought we could ask.
