Exactly. As of now (or really as of the last 8 years), there's like one or maybe two total uses for the power in the whole game. That's ridiculous. And more ridiculously, it's in a severely underperforming set.
  2. Overall I think Ice would be more survivable, since it's not pure defense. The dull pain clone makes a huge difference when layered on top of defense. SR's +res is very situational and won't always help, while Ice's extra mitigation (heal/HP and slows) will.
  3. On my elec/elec I went with the fire epic, but that is because I have zero end issues, being /elec. With /shield you may run into problems, unless you have a lot of +recovery from other sources. On scrappers without infinite end, I tend to go with body mastery.
  4. Damn it, I thought this thread would list some new buffs to the set

Instead it's just ideas that will be ignored by the devs. EM seems to be like PvP in this game. The devs have made up their minds about it, and even though it's plainly obvious that they're completely wrong, they refuse to listen to any reason.

I have 2 EM toons that used to be good (not great)....but now they're just a total joke and don't get played at all.
  5. I do kind of wish IO's never happened. Well, there are a few of them that I can't live without (some of the uniques), but other than that, they add a lot of tedious work, which I personally don't enjoy at all. With SO's, you can fully slot a toon in like 5 minutes. With IO's, it can take days or weeks. And I just don't enjoy that part of the game at all. But of course I do enjoy the benefit.

I will say this though: No doubt in my mind that PvP would have been better off without IO's. At this point if you haven't spent 15+ billion on your build, you may as well not even set foot in PvP, at least if you're new. It's absolutely insane to require that much of an investment just to TRY something, considering 99% of the game population will NEVER have that much inf.

Allowing only SO's would have put everybody on the same level, so things would be decided by skill, not by who spent more on their build. Of course IO's weren't the only (or even nearly the biggest) thing that destroyed PvP, but I fully believe it would have been better off without them.

That's what it sounds like to me too, and the only suggestion in that case is a SS/fire brute.
  7. My rule is 1 kb IO for squishies and 3 for melee toons (unless they have inherent protection).
  8. Oh I'm not missing it

This was just for my second account that is currently free.
  9. Thanks guys, that's what I figured.
  10. Not sure where else to post this, so posting here. Is there a way for a premium player to do the incarnate stuff? Basically can I pay a one time fee to "unlock" the incarnate content and then do it without paying a monthly fee, or is it only available to pure VIP accounts?
  11. Sonic is commonly said to be the only blast set where it's better to be a defender than a corr. The -res from sonic is much bigger. It's really the only set where pretty much everybody will suggest to be a defender.
  12. I'll just comment on two.

INTERFACE: Even when the others work, I've found that the DoT reactive is simply the best one. More damage seems to beat everything, since killing the mobs solves all problems. And the extra damage is very noticeable.

LORE: Of the ones you mentioned, I've tried warworks and storm. WW are right up there in damage. Storm is mostly about debuffs, at least the path I chose with the hurricane one. It looks very cool. Rularuu look pretty awesome too.
  13. It's not the best, but it's good and fun to play.
  14. The oldest toon I have is a BS/regen scrapper. I wouldn't suggest regen to anybody, unless it was only for PvP. Like mentioned, +def is the only thing that saves it, along with as much recharge as possible.

It's definitely the weakest secondary set out of all my melee toons. But situationally it can be very good. And BS or katana helps a lot.
  15. StJ uses a ton of end, so something that helps with that would be good. Other than that, I can't think of anything specific. Not sure if there are any real synergies with it, since it doesn't have too many special effects. I made an StJ/EA recently that's good so far.

    Lore pets

I had an idea about this. It wasn't to make the pets perma, but rather to simply make them non-exclusive. So as soon as one set of pets expired, you'd be able to summon a different set of pets. That way if you have 3 different pets, you could have one of them out at all times. That would require you to obtain 3 sets of pets (lots of extra work) and therefore may not even require a damage nerf.

This actually sounds pretty fun. I don't know, 4 of the exact same build will get boring, I think. Nobody will stand out or ever feel like they did anything special. But with this, everybody would have a pretty unique toon, while at the same time still being Arachnos. If one of the 4 is missing, it will actually make things fun by making the fights a bit different. Conversely, if all 4 toons are the same and one person is missing, nothing will really change....you'll just have one less person doing the same stuff that everybody else is doing.

It sounds like you're greatly exaggerating the difficulty of the trials. Not only are they no harder than most oldschool TF's, in most cases they're actually easier.

I've gotten 6 toons to level 53, and only one of them is IO'd - the rest have pure SO's.

Just do what you normally do, and you'll be fine....with ANY toon. Unless you're on a really bad team, your team will be able to pick up the slack even if you're not performing as well as you would with a "perfect" build. Just stay away from the MasterOf runs and stuff like that
  19. Ok thanks guys! That helps.
  20. So the situation is....there's an SO'd stalker with attacks slotted with 2 acc, 3 dmg, 1 rech. He has the tier 3 musc (total radial). Should I keep the same slotting, or change one of the damage SO's to a recharge? Assuming only SO's for simplicity.

Basically is the tiny extra damage from the 4th damage SO worth it, or would the 1 extra SO worth of recharge create more damage overall?
  21. I have two level 50 EM toons, a tank and a stalker. Both were made back when EM was a good set. Since it was nerfed, I have not played them at all. They're simply very weak toons now. Like mac said, the set went from being horrible at AoE but great at ST....to horrible at AoE and bad at ST. I still have yet to understand the logic behind that change.

I would definitely avoid EM at all costs.
  22. /fire has the most AoE damage, but you may not need it, since you already have a ton in fire/.

/elec has the most ST damage for blapping, but requires you to play in melee.

/dark is still fairly unproven, but it definitely requires you to play in melee. Unless you specifically want a blapper, I would avoid it.

/EM has the best fit for pure ranged specialists, due to boost range.

/MM and /cold have the most damage mitigation. +regen with MM and -recharge and knockdown with cold. Overall MM is probably better mitigation.

So you need to decide which of the above is most important to you.

    Stacking Rage

I tend to put rage on auto so I don't have to click it constantly. I then notice the -dmg instances by monitoring my damage stat.
  24. The biggest use I've found for it so far is to double the duration of my tier 9, for extended AV fights. I just have to make sure to use burnout before the crash, and then as soon as it crashes, I pop one blue, use the tier 9 again, and seconds later I have a full blue bar again, along with tier 9 defense. It works very well.
