  1. Back in the day (over a year ago) SS/FA and SS/Elec were (arguably?) the best farm builds at least villain side, with the apparent "extra nod" going to SS/Elec for extreme no budget limit builds. But I never made a SS/Elec...

How about now? I never rolled a SS/Elec but thinking about it now. Also in the meantime, to accumulate the best efficient wealth with my SS/Fire, should I respec him out of Mu and take Pyre? Also, is TV farm still one of the best ones? Finally, if anyone knows offhand, is most of Virtue server on hero side now? I hope my questions aren't irritating...

I don't need detailed builds or anything, just wondering about any significant changes I should know about regarding brutes and farming inf. Thanks!

PS: Wow I see I get 3 free skill points since Fitness is automatic, sweet!

Sounds great on paper! Boy, just jump from spawn to spawn casting roots + seeds then bam! Watch the recipes roll in!

But wait, there's no map like that where you can use such a method that would beat a F/K or a SS Brute

SS/Fire Brute on +0/8 no bosses on Liberate can clear an entire of spawn of 20 in about 15-20 seconds give or take

Again, your method sounds awesome, and if such a dream place where you could do that exists, I've love to hear about it!

    Am I a healer?

    To the OP:

You picked a good combo. Heal or no heal, you can buff, you can damage, you can confuse, you can control. Just disregard the label.

PS: Try Illusion instead of plant and you can tank too!
  4. I'd vendor or delete my purples before I'd put them up for 100k

Mind you, I can make 100k in 20 seconds of farming

So unless they changed all this, and you only got like... ten influence for a level 50 boss kill... yeah
  5. [QUOTE=GavinRuneblade;3056167]That couldn't be possible and still have it be a dual build. The whole point is to swap around the slots and powers. If you kept the same IOs some/most would be invalid.
    QUOTE]

It's possible. Granted the devs would have to care and actually implement an interface for it, but definitely possible.

Not un-similar to how you can have two gearsets in WoW. Both sets often have some of the same pieces, but other pieces are different (obviously) to accomodate different situations.
  6. I just see it as silly if anyone thinks this game is important or hard enough to worry about it. lol-elitism

A game like WoW I could *almost* understand wanting to keep secrets, since min-maxing gear, enchants, gems, and most of all, talents, can make the difference between you and your team succeeding in end game content or failing. However, WoW nips all "secrets" in the bud completely by making everything about your character extremely public. Back in the day you could keep some secrets because all you could inspect was people's gear. Now though everything is out there and easy to inspect and copy if you so choose.

Yeah I should have worded better. The idea I was meaning to convey was: the combination of radius and recharge time make FS awesome. Compare to say, Lightning Rod, which is awesome too, but has a much longer recharge.

    Farming Brute

Never tried it before, just sounds like a lot frequent mission resetting. I yield about 47 kills per minute, so I'd have to reset every 5 minutes or so. Might giver it a whirl and see how it goes. I just have to factor in the reset times into my clearing rate. Shall see...

When at +0/x8 no bosses, Liberate has many spawns of 20. It's random but I'd say maybe a third of the spawns are like that. Then there's many more with 15+ as well. I often skip the groups of a dozen or less, or if they look kinda spread out, just varies
  11. Whips are currently only allowed on MMs so that's my guess as to why the pet-less MM is possibly becoming considered again like it was when thugs were released and MM's were given exclusive dual pistols.

    WTB whip-wielding corrs or doms!
  12. To answer the OP, imo SS would still be a strong contender for AOE, assuming Foot Stomp remained unchanged. One of the widest radius and shortest recharge AOEs in the game
  13. I prefer playing a Illu/Emp controller because you generally won't be as expected to rely on your secondary as much as an Emp Defender is expected to rely on his primary. When my controller is on teams I spend most of the time casting Deceive, Blind, and Phantoms, with my Phantasm out also. I just throw in a heal or buff now and then and I never get any gripes about my lack of healing the team

I never bothered really. To me it's easy/fast enough to just go /unbind A /unbind D etc if I even need to, and paste the binds back in later. It takes seconds

That being said, I'm sure there's a way to load a text file or what not like I've seen Masterminds and other players do. I just never messed with that option
  15. The PA would basically be like Fire Imps if the taunt was removed, give or take. At that point I'd say they deserve have a health bar instead of invulnerable, be perma, and perhaps buffable too like the imps are. So... I'd still like

    Brute farmer

You won't defense cap a Fiery Aura brute without neutering yourself on all other aspects. Darkest Night from Soul Mastery a helps a little, but it's an end hog and imo is more of a pain than its worth to utilize effectively

But farming? Do Liberate TV, and ignore defense. Myself and others linked builds in another thread posted recently. Plus there's a lot of other threads as well over the past few weeks too you can use for reference

Edit: And take Rise of the Phoenix. You will die, and you will die in the middle of a spawn where a wakie + bf + green + blue + whatever will not help you and you will have to go to the hospital and waste farming time. Save yourself the annoyance and take the best self-rez in the game. Not to mention it also takes Absolute Amazement or Stupefy sets for recharge. (You may already be planning to take it; I simply respectfully disagree with those who skip it)
  17. I posted recently about how I use advanced binds that allow me to combine inspirations into reds and use reds automatically while I move around. I got a few PMs asking how I do that so figured a lot of you might be interested in knowing how to do this. I used this thread for a starting point. Microcosm deserves credit for providing a very handy resource for these advanced commands! The combining commands in the thread centered around macros mostly, so I took some macros and coverted them into binds that work with my movement keys, as well as added use commands to movement keys

Note: The less players you group with, the more the binds will come in handy. Also, when you have bosses on, you will clear slower, so will have less inspiration drops to depend on. This is why I generally turn off bosses when farming. I prefer multiple decent chances for a good recipe drop vs one slightly better chance for a good recipe drop. To each his own, if you prefer bosses, by all means

    ---------------------------

Want to constantly combine and pop reds while soloing/farming, but get sick of all the tedious clicking required to do it?

    /bind w "+forward$$inspcombine insight enrage$$inspcombine luck enrage$$inspcombine respite enrage$$inspcombine sturdy enrage$$inspcombine break_free enrage$$inspcombine awaken enrage"

    /bind d "+right$$inspcombine keen_insight focused_rage$$inspcombine good_luck focused_rage$$inspcombine dramatic_improvement focused_rage$$inspcombine rugged focused_rage$$inspcombine emerge focused_rage"

    /bind a "+left$$inspexecname enrage$$inspexecname focused_rage$$inspexecname righteous_rage"

Essentially, every time I move forward or right, I automatically combine any inspirations that I have 3x of, into reds. Every time I move left, I automatically use any reds I have on hand. I didn't include the giant-sized inspirs for length reasons, but you can play with adding those as you please. Refer to the above link for those commands.

I also didn't include blues in those binds on purpose. Occasionally Rage and Hasten both crash at the same time, or I need a emergency blue for whatever reason, so I like to make sure I have 1-2 on me if needed. But when I see myself sitting on a bunch of blues, I press E to get rid of them and make more reds:

    /bind e "inspcombine catch_a_breath enrage$$inspcombine take_a_breather focused_rage"

You can play around with these and tailor to your needs, like if you prefer to keep an extra green or break free on hand, etc.

    ---------------------------

Want to be defense-capped to all positions all the time while soloing or farming, but you aren't IO'd for it?

    /bind w "+forward$$inspcombine insight luck$$inspcombine enrage luck$$inspcombine respite luck$$inspcombine sturdy luck$$inspcombine break_free luck$$inspcombine awaken luck"

    /bind d "+right$$inspcombine focused_rage good_luck$$inspcombine keen_insight good_luck$$inspcombine dramatic_improvement good_luck$$inspcombine rugged good_luck"

    /bind a "+left$$inspexecname luck$$inspexecname good_luck"

The above 3 binds made levels 40-50 a breeze! I found a council warehouse mission and ran at +2/3 my level and x8 and went to town! I hardly got hit despite having 0 defense from IOs, and I had Healing Flames available when needed. Also works great for farming at 50 where defense is handy and allows you to not worry about slotting IOs for defense at all, instead letting you focus on the yummy bonuses like recharge and recovery

Note: If you don't get the inspirations to drop enough, your shields will drop and you will be vulnerable! Naturally this means if you are soloing you need a character than can clear quickly! Also, if you find you are getting *too many* purple shields, you can play with the binds to make sure you only combine less desired inspirs into purples, and keep the others. Play with it to suit your playstyle!

    ---------------------------

This isn't inspiration-related but is useful nonetheless. Wish you could have multiple powers on auto-fire but the system won't allow it? Here's a handy workaround:

    /bind a "+left$$powexec_auto Rage"

    /bind w "+forward$$powexec_auto Hasten"

    /bind d "+right$$powexec_auto Fiery Embrace"

I don't use these on my farming spec because I don't like to double stack Rage and I don't use Fiery Embrace in my farming spec (wish I could but I wanted all the +recharge bonuses I could get!) So I simply put Hasten on normal auto and use my red inspir binds

    ---------------------------

You can also combine autocast binds with inspiration binds!

Example: You want to use all reds AND check for/cast Fiery Embrace if it is up:

    /bind a "+left$$powexec_auto fiery embrace$$inspexecname enrage$$inspexecname focused_rage$$inspexecname righteous_rage"

Moving left will automatically cast Fiery Embrace if it is up, and also use available red inspirations

You have a ton of combinations of useful commands at your disposal to make farming or other activities in the game a lot more seamless, efficient, and fun!

If there is already a thread just like this that I missed, apologies. Also feel free to point out any bind errors or any suggestions/improvements to add to them (some say you can omit the _underscores_ so try that if you wish.) If you have useful solo/farming binds to share feel free to post them as well!

Would definitely take Fiery Embrace over the pet if I could put a recharge set into it. It's not really missed though

I clear spawns so fast anyway though, Blazing Aura's DoT-like damage just doesn't have time to contribute much anyway. And the +damage-to-all component is so short lived its not missed either. Again, I solo and automatically have tons of +dmg from inspirs as well via my keybinds so +damage really is zero issue. Sometimes if I am really crusing and running on over a dozen red inspir buffs I stop casting Rage as well for a bit so I don't have to worry about crashes. Trust me, it works. Kills per minute, that's where the drops are

Similar to having a damage slotted Knockout Blow in my non-farming spec, Fiery Embrace is in my non-farming spec as well!
  19. Edit: OP's post is tricky. The title is pretty open ended, then you have to read towards the end before you see he's isolating on two powersets, lol.

My pick is SS or Fire. But out of the two you prefer I'd say dark. I see that a lot more often than stone and it sounds more fun to me too

You are right about the defense, though. Building for defense is useless if you farm Nemesis, better going for +rech/+rec/+hp.
I disclaimed pretty thoroughly in my initial post that everyone has their preference. This is mine, and it works *very* effectively at raking in the orange salvage and purple recipes

Something big I omitted: I use advanced binds which make my W, A, and D keys automatically combine and use red inspirs as a I move around, so as long as I am clearing at a good pace I have (rough estimate) a constant additional damage bonus of 150%-300%, on top of Fury and Rage. I only single stack Rage though to avoid too many annoying crashes. When I crash I take that moment to delete unwanted salvage/recipes. I always keep my salvage and recipe windows open when farming, by making them small and tucking them at the bottom of the screen near my chat window

No bosses = no actual need for KOB. If I was going against bosses I couldn't agree more that it's needed. I dual spec and trust me KOB is used very often on the other spec and slotted accordingly. The OP wanted a farm build so I posted one that yields huge returns. Again, I was trying to help by posting a final build to use as a template only. Before I was all purple'd I simply re-slotted around with cheaper sets and avoided colliding into rule of 5. With lower recharge Consume will not be up *quite* enough so you will need the occasional blue inspiration

KOB and Hurl and Pet are used as recharge mules. I use the pet for fun though since I have him, and he actually does a decent job on occasion of cleaning up a straggler here or there while I move on to the next thick spawn
  21. I hate those demon sounds!

But you know what's awesome?!!!! I can do this crazy thing called turn down my volume while at the market! Then turn it back up when I leave!

For advanced users with the desire to do so, there are ways to completely mute sounds that annoy you.
  22. Defense cap is where its at

Fire provides resist shield where Earth provides defense shield

The one thing I prefer about Fire is the self rez for those times when I eff up when soloing, and a wakie doesnt work because I'm in the middle of the mobs ><
  23. Two arguments it seems: one being /mind dom vs /mind troller and the other being dominator vs controller in general.

Controllers have Illusion. So unless/until they proliferate Illusion to Dominators I prefer Controllers more. But that's because I personally love Illusion, being I have three level 50 Illusionists. As for /mind, I wish I had rolled a /mind dominator instead of /mind controller. I took a very long break and didn't realize how possible (and awesome) Perma-dom became, so when I rolled a /mind I went with controller without even thinking about making a dom. Sadly my mind controller just collects dust in the mid-30s.

Opinions vary. That being said, my vote goes towards the /mind dominator
  24. Below is my build just to give you something to work off of. I make 350k inf per minute and make huge amounts on drops. Hard to gauge but I'd say I average about 6-7 purples every 5 hours, and yield tons of orange salvage and recipes as well which roll in a lot more money. While I am sure there are many awesome locations to farm, IMO Liberate TV is very popular and its my top pick. I prefer kills per minute so opt to run +0/x8 with no bosses. I get 47ish kills per minute. Many will tell you "always fight bosses" so that's your decision there. I know what works well for me.

IMO if you want to farm: Focus only on recharge. Other bonuses are just that, gravy. I have perma hasten with my arms crossed at the black market. You aren't fighting bosses with my build so you are free to get a lot more recharge. Substitute my purple sets for cheaper ones, but make sure you don't collide into the rule of 5.

In before: "OMG you took Hurl, Pet, and slotted Basilisk into KOB etc."

Recharge is king. And you don't need defense against Nemesis. They penetrate it anyway.

  25. I thought I was living life good. I can reliably depend on netting over 300k per minute on Liberate TV on my SS/Fire, while getting a decent number of purples and oranges in the process as well.

Then I see people flexing their hero stats showing very impressive numbers well over 500k per minute. That's a big difference. I also notice some of these farmers claim they are SS/Elec. Really? I thought Fire was where the fast killin be at, and then Shield next.

The highest I can ever reliably get my SS/Fire up to, is almost 400k/min and that's if I run 53s with no bosses, or 52s with bosses. And that is with me very purpled out, using inspiration binds, and sadly dying from time to time and popping back with Rise of the Phoenix.

So yeah, I do pretty well, but how can I do better like these guys? IE: Even if that means using a different toon, guessing a Brute still but yea... :-O

    Edit: Or a different map?
