  1. The Jay Leno show certainly deserves its spot. The first episode got beat in the ratings up here by Ice Pilots NWT on History Television by about 100,000 viewers. That's bad. Really bad.

House is the only show there I watch, although I'd also throw Castle and Supernatural into the best list.

Not sure Mom would be MY go to beta tester... >.> <.<
    "How do you backspace?"

"You hit the backspace key, mom."

    "Okay. Thanks."
  3. I'd probably drop Transformers 2, Wolverine, and I Love You Man off either list, and swap District 9 and Watchmen. A few of the others I haven't seen, but I honestly can't remember that many movies from the past year.
  4. Didn't know about the 'move' function, thanks. Mostly curious because in the past I picked up a name for which there was an extensive VV page, with stories, commissioned art, the whole nine yards. I never did get anywhere with the name myself, and it has since been picked up by another. Being just a single sentence, this case is a little different, but it is nice to know your options.
  5. So what's the etiquette on 'editing' an existing VV page. I recently grabbed the name Ruby Rocket to make a Dual Pistols blaster when GR hits. The name does have this VV page already made. I would assume completely deleting this wouldn't cause much issue, since the name is now mine and there's not much there, but what about if there was a much more detailed page. In-game tells, and forum PM's?

I'm just really excited about this character and want to get working on a VV page. Which is odd since I won't be able to actually even play the character for a good many months.
  6. Sweet jumping Jesus in a motorcycle sidecar!

I've got my Dual Pistols concept and am now eagerly awaiting Going Rogue. Hot damned it's been a long time since a character excited me this much. DP/Devices blaster, here I come.

  8. You won't be as 'sturdy' a tank as say a Granite, Inv, or WP tanker. That said, you should be able to tank pretty much anything the game throws at you. I played a Fire/Stone tanker that was a beast. If Fire works for the concept, give it a whirl.

Also Stun resistance + Toxic Resist + Heal makes you king of the sewer teams. Suck it Vahzilok.

It does with this group. There are almost zero villain groups that even use weapons/abilities one could consider remotely non-lethal. You go down in a storm of bullets without the government's fancy hospital teleportation device, you stay down.

And despite the defeat/kill inconsistencies, CoH villain groups are really never shown to be the kind to spare a hero, especially one for whom there would be no ransom.

Besides, we do allow powerset rez powers. If one's available, the rest of the team can save your bacon. If not, well it's not really a big surprise that Jimmy, the axe-wielding moonlighting mechanic, couldn't bring you back to life.
  11. My highest villain is a lvl 33 Merc/FF. I went with a somewhat similar concept, but it can be trying at times. While /FF provides good survivability to the troops, the lack of debuffs can really be felt. Bubbles + Knockback + All Ranged Damage keep your crew in tip-top shape.

I haven't played him much lately, but have been considering rerolling the character once dual pistols arrives. Perhaps if I picked up the primary attacks it wouldn't be too bad, but as is, spamming Force Bolt and re-bubbling every 4 minutes gets pretty boring. I love the concept, but even I have my limits of fun versus effectiveness.

I'm certainly enjoying mine, one of those weird confluences of great name, costume and concept, with a powerset combination that kicks ***. Heck, even got a badass name for my one man SG, The Valkyries, on Freedom.

As to the original question, I realize I've never actually tried katana past level 4 in 4+ years of playing, so I'm also not much help there. I find Dark Armor a very peculiar set which I have difficulty describing or explaining. Wasted on small mobs, a little weak for really big ones, it takes some work to find the right balance. Then again, I went Elec/Dark, so the +def from DA might make it quite a bit more survivable in your case.
  13. I'd help, but a billion influence is about 5 times as much influence as I have on all my characters combined.

Now, back to your regularly scheduled discussion. And Merry Christmas.
  14. We do RP somewhat in Local, using Team and SG for OOC stuff which makes for a nice separation. Lets people who want to RP, RP, and doesn't force others to hunt through the chat box looking for (())'s or OOC:'s. Then again, my 'Indiana Jones'-esque female scrapper died at level 3 and I'm now running a recently thawed out viking who doesn't speak english and is also more than a little slow, so RP is a bit quirky at the moment.

Super-SK works for and against a group like this. Since at any given moment you can have a wide range of characters, it lets them all team up. On the other hand, as my level 3 scrapper found out, taking a lowbie against much higher level bosses, even SK'd, can be rough. That said, my second character, a SD/BA tanker did much better. Made it to 6 or 7 with little trouble before logging for the night.

It was also interesting how the team dynamic changed over time. When I first logged on, it was my scrapper and a bunch of controllers/defenders. By the time we finished up, we had two tankers, a blaster and scrapper going. Most of the problems should work themselves out as we level though and get new powers and better inspirations.

Only suggestion if you do think of joining up, keep a few names/costumes/concepts in the back of your mind in case you do go down. Death, deletion, and rerolling becomes much less painful that way.
  15. Obligatory 2 x Empathy/Sonic recommendation.

    FM/SD scrapper paired with a Sonic/Sonic defender.
  16. I'd also suggest throwing a post in the SG recruitment thread stickied here on the virtue board.

Edit: Dead at level 3. I done got whooped by them Damned.
  17. I like it. Sticks to canon without some lame excuse about 'hacking' into the teleportation grid. I may have to come up with something. After I spend a week or so going over the rules...
  18. One thing I'd like to see is animations for Procs.

For example: you slot a chance for fire damage into an attack. You use the attack, the proc goes off, and the target is set ablaze akin to being hit by Scorch or Council Marksman incendiary rounds.

I think it would add a nice bit of customization to characters.
  19. Well, I've got a name for a pistols character (Guns Blazing) but no idea what to play. Leaning towards Pistols/Traps Corruptor. The seemingly wild and reckless hitman who in actuality has his hits planned out perfectly.

Although Pistols/Devices blaster could be interesting.
  20. 145 deviations since yesterday afternoon. I'm never going to keep up with all this stuff. Still, nice to have everyone/everything in one awesome place.

    Next tank?

War Mace, or Dual Blades. Both are a lot of fun. And Willpower doesn't have any click powers to cause redraw or interrupt combos. Both are good for damage, and especially good for AoE damage.
  22. Invulnerability is a very solid set, being second to Granite Armor in survivability once you're soft-capped. It's relatively easy to soft-cap for S/L, and since most attacks have a S/L component, you're covered. Even with just SO's you'll be sturdy. And if you do get into some trouble, you've got Dull Pain to heal you up, boost your HP, and mock your enemies.
  23. Borderline Artistic (maybe pushing the boundaries of tasteful, but that was a funny episode of My Name is Earl)

Yup. We tend to slot both, but attacks do use up the bulk of your endurance.
