Tell me about Invulnerability

I've seen more and more brutes with Invulnerability nowadays, and while it's probably just a coincidence, how does it perform? On paper/mids it seems alright, but not fantastic, considering Energy/Neg and Fire/Cold defense/resists aren't spectacular at all. Even packed with IOs it seems like it would just underperform in general. However, on paper and in-game are 2 completely different animals, so, what's the consensus?

Invulnerability is a very solid set, being second to Granite Armor in survivability once you're soft-capped. It's relatively easy to soft-cap for S/L, and since most attacks have a S/L component, you're covered. Even with just SO's you'll be sturdy. And if you do get into some trouble, you've got Dull Pain to heal you up, boost your HP, and mock your enemies.

They ALL float down here. When you're down here with us, you'll float too!

Invuln is not easy to softcap s/l on (unless you have invins set to max targets all the time) and is not definitively the second most survivable set (sr to name one contender.) Invuln is a good set though. You will be the toughest brute leveling up and though you will have end issues, its a very relaxed set leveling wise. Plan on taking every power except the auto exotic resistances and maybe unstop depending on playstyle. Really though, try to make room for at least one of the auto exotic resistances (they have good debuff resist's now too) and unstop, as I find you need it in every sf/harder team at *some* point.

Invuln might be worse redside than blue. It has that Psi hole in your damage resistance, and Arachnos has a lot of ladies that like to crawl around in your head. There are always +psi defense and +psi resist IOs, of course.

I think it's one of those old sets that's still solid, but it isn't quite what it was in the golden age of Invulns herding entire maps and laughing at at puny ineffective weapons plinking off them.

Unstop is one of those old timey crashes too. Was thinking of dropping it off my Katana/Invuln because I don't really use it much, and when you do you have to remember GET OUT OF DODGE before your green and your blue bars both go crashing down when it wears off. My SS/SR brute only has to worry about Rage crashes, he's all chillin' softcapped on defenses and never has to godmode.

For brutes, I think Invulnerability is Willpower's poor sister now. Brutes benefit more than any other class from having two recovery powers like Willpower gives you. You start out with less resistance and defense, but set bonuses can close that gap, and the fact that you can keep going without stopping makes survivability less of an issue.
