I'm not meaning optimal play preferences (which will vary in opinion), I mean...basics. This discussion came up in the I15 tests about the fact that people who are interested in the AT have no clue what the Inherant is. Every other Inherant is either so passive that you'll never really need to know what it is or so blatant that you have no way not knowing. Domination has to be consciously activated and there's nowhere in the game that tells people that.
[/ QUOTE ]
Sorry, I disagree. If you had this concern in issue 15 beta then why didn't you voice it then when something "might" have been done about the scenario. Fact is that activating domination is no longer a necessity for extra damage and mitigation. Lowbie doms really don't have to worry about "domination" except as an end bar filler. Dominator's have essentially been dumbed down just like pvp was dumbed down. If you are running across players that can't play the AT in your opinion then just hope they are having fun and be glad the AT popularity might be boosted.( I srs want to barf right now).
On the other hand who are any of us to tell any player whether new or old how to play? If the players irritating you are having a fun time it is really poor form for you to be Mr?Ms KnowitAll with a playing lesson.
Reality check? Maybe they like how they are playing and having a fun time. Maybe they could give a rats [censored] if they are doing it " right" or "wrong".
Just a few thoughts.
No offense.
Who are any of us to tell any player how to play their dominator? In addition, doms now are a walk in the park compaired to dominator's at Cov's release.
Anyhow? Happy Hunting! -
Great read. Thank you for posting the link,Flea

Thank you for clearing up the questions regarding deletions in DC's thread

The empty sets in this build are filled with pvp sets. The final build is +32% dmage,+170.5 rech,+217 hp,+ 67* accuracy,+range as well but I dont remeber the %. I am posting this just to give ideas. Its a bit different than the one DC posted but equally playable. I use temp flight packs frequently in zones to get targets for wh or move out of harms way. The build has dimshift as an anti gank measure.

This isnt my final build that I am currently playing but with Mids not reflective with pvp sets that build was done on paper then implemented. Off the top of my head I know I skipped crush and pickked up circle then dropped sword for slash. Although the build is primarily a pvp build its alot of fun in pve as well
Its always fun to bounce builds around and see what everyone comes up with!! -
In my opinion grav/ is viable and much fun. I reccommended other sets because the Op stated he is new to the archetype. I think grav/ might not be as easy to get a feel for than some of the other sets playing as a newer dom. Right now mind//elec is one of the fotm"s.
Edited to add: In the end you are the one playing YOUR dominator. Roll a couple of doms and get a feel for what sets you most enjoy playing.Take the sets you fall in love with to level 50. In addition it will be wise to start planning and saving for your end build early on.Head over to the market forums and do a little research in order to get a headstart on being able to generate the enfamy anditems for your final build. A little spent here and there is a much less daunting task than hitting 50 only to realize you havent the funds for your envisioned build. -
Why? So they can further stealth delete posts with no explaination or notification? No thank you.

Can you do anything but nerfherd?

Psst, he was asking about PvP.
Although that is still solid info about Grav.
[/ QUOTE ]
Doh. Well, I have no idea about anything to do with PvP, but that info is probably still more or less applicable.
[/ QUOTE ]
Duh..... its a mint julep, nitwit.
The misintrepetation of my avatar also applies to the above posters knowledge of a grav/ dom and pvp. I do not reccommend grav// for novices although it is quite fun. I will give the guy that thinks my avatar is iced tea credit for pointing out that with grav timing powersand power selection is crucial simplybecause the kb is a big bonus in pvp and totally messed if a player nullifies it with one of the cancelling powers. Even singy will mess you up if you aren't careful.
If you want a pvp dom do mind/elec or Mind /ener. Yes earth/ is viable but takes juggling because some of earths powers require a grounded target.Ask someone else what "grounded" is. In addition ,expect to spend a chunk on the Black Market to make whatever you choose viable . GLHF!! -
You are mistaken,Talen.
-
Depends on where you throw it.
-
My question: How long do you all think you can keep this up and still keep a healthy number of subscribers?
I just went back over a few threads to try and ascertain the reason for this thread. I can't believe the balls of the mods and devs in this game.

People that farm for pvp badges are the ultimate gaming lowlife. Earn it the hard way or don't wear the badge. Sorry, Carebears sporting pvp badges they farmed irks me more than the "girl" that takes a handout based on gender in game.
[/ QUOTE ]
Really? My view is a bit different. I think that people who do 'blanket put-downs' of an entire sector of the playerbase are the real lowlifes.
[/ QUOTE ]
I have to be redundant apparantly. I have an objection to players that farm pvp badges. That is my opinion and after 5 years of play I highly doubt MY opinion will change. I don't care what other badges people farm .Have at it and a good time to all hunting badges!! I made no "blanket statement" against badging or badgers. -
Are you really THAT naive, Mr Commander ? Please do not make ASSumptions about my playstyle or my nonexistant "ePeen". It is not my job to provide you with my playing credentials in order to post my opinion. My advice to you would be to crawl OUT from under YOUR little rock and take a look around.
Happy hunting!!

See, the problem is with communication, the definition of farming, and what was being farmed.
The developers do not like farming. They know it's not going to stop, so they allow players to do so without harsh penalties (please, read on before making an assessment from the first three sentences.)
However, they do not want players to use the MA for farming since it was not its original intent. They said over a year ago that they were not making the MA to use for farming, yet people did.
They cracked down on MA badge farming by removing badges that promoted farming WITHIN the MA system, something they stated they didn't want, yet didn't see how conjested the MA would become.
They cracked down on MA XP farming by datamining and suspended players and blocked out toons that used the MA to powerlevel at unbelievable rates.
They cracked down on MA ticket farming by placing a ticket cap on all maps.
They cracked down and removed explotative MA maps that allowed players to earn tickets, XP, and badges by using the map to their advantage to avoid "normal" gameplay to obtain the items.
Although they disapprove of farming, they know it's not going to stop. Which is why you will not see great measures taken to stop farming elsewhere in game.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ummm.... WTF does MA have to do with pvp badges or recipes????
Nothing.
People that farm for pvp badges are the ultimate gaming lowlife. Earn it the hard way or don't wear the badge. Sorry, Carebears sporting pvp badges they farmed irks me more than the "girl" that takes a handout based on gender in game. The ilk of that mindset rates right here with this disgusting business:

FWIW, I took courses in business communication and PR while in college. I *could* filter everything I say with marketing doublespeak and spin. I choose not to. Sometimes, that causes me a lot of grief from the fans, other times, I get called to the carpet by my boss. I can live with that, though, since I believe that what I am doing is overall beneficial to everyone concerned.
[/ QUOTE ]
It wouldn't really matter if you did. To eliminate the pain, you'd have to be able to consistently do three things I don't think were on the curriculum:
1. Know what everyone else is saying about that particular topic and make sure you explicitly deny you're saying any of those things (unless you are).
2. Know all of the computational and informational errors that your audience is prone to, extrapolate what conclusions those errors would draw, and then deny those, also explicitly.
3. Know all of the presumed intentional assumptions likely to be drawn, and negate all of the false ones, also explicitly.
I'm not making this up: when I wrote the I7 critter accuracy change guide, I directly addressed all three. Unless you're an expert on the player-side chatter of the topic *and* the game mechanics the topic addresses on the design side *and* think the Rosetta Stone is just a heavier form of Sudoku, anything you're likely to say is going to be turned into tapioca pretty quickly. The only advantage I have is that my opinions don't rest in the head of the chief powers designer for the game, so I'm "plausibly deniable" on both sides.
Throwing a PR person into the mix would be like having a bedouin try to mediate a debate between an eskimo and a penguin over the best texture for shaved ice.

Guys? You REALLY just do NOT get it. ANY of it.
Suffice it to say if the changes make more happy then the changes accomplished their goal. After all? If you don't know what you missed out on then it really doesnt't matter. Does it? -
Well? Twixt is prolly in his rocking chair laughing because there are over 100 pages dedicated to him today on these forums if you count all the various threads.

I didnt stop my debit card from drawing on my account because I can't do math, Ryu. I stopped it because I no longer want to pay in 6 month increments. I want a gamecard so I dont have to worry about being charged for a service I may decide not to use.

This has been rehashed so many times, people who were low level doms were initially happy and anyone who has a high level dom or a permadom were like this sucks. (2-3 bill of infamy down the tubes.)
They nerf high level doms, and throw low level "buff" on some low to mid level characters call it a buff, and people believe them.
They screwed up dominators like they screwed up PVP.
