  1. Personally I think it would be nice not to have to stop at a trainer .5 miles away or more in the opposite direction of where my team is headed just to learn how to throw a punch.

I mean so many powers in this game are invention, mutation, magic, self trained etc. that you can easily explain learning on the spot. Everything really. "I just had an epiphany!! I know now why my FF generator prototype isn't working" *reverses the flux capacitor*. "EUREKA!!! I'm a genius."

Instead of "um, I'm a gadget inventor guy but I can't make this work, you do it and I'll claim to have developed it myself like everything else I use. Gee I'm sure a smart gadget inventor guy, I create...nothing *cries self to sleep*"

Not the inventor type? *cell phone rings* "Kinda busy right now, you just acquired WHAT for me? What do you mean you can't get it here? You have tons of flunkies, teleportation networks, helicopters, super powered people working for you, and countless inventions. You can't even figure out how to quickly get me my flamethrower attachment for my Assault Rifle TO HELP ME SAVE THE FRIGGEN WORLD??!! Your fired."
  2. It would be nice, I would LOVE it. But the devs would prolly consider it too much work for not enough return.

Personally I don't think this has to do with actual movement of animations. I think it would have to do with relocating the "launch" point for each individual power.

As far as ACC vs not ACC? Please. Don't give me that crud lol. In today's game that no longer flies. If your inaccurate that's because you chose to be so. Personally I think they should try to eliminate the redraw and if they deem it necessary nerf the accuracy to normal levels compensate. I'll be hitting 95% of the time either way.

    Revamping Claws

I say that they should do both.

Most time should be spent on new shinies. BUT they can still slowly revamp older sets behind the scenes.

Not to mention that if they do this wisely, the same animation can be used in both the new and the old sets. For example, revamping spin. I WONDER just how many sets use that stock animation. Hmmmm...... I'm sure it's not any. *looks at nearly every friggen weapon melee set*.

In other words, with animation rehash being common, redoing a few animation would give MANY sets alternate options. Also it's possible that new animations could be used for new sets AS WELL AS revamp old sets.

This could be done with more than just Melee. It could be done with alternate ranged casts too.

After spending a full nights play, around 4 hours online I can say that my crashing has stopped. The newest drivers from ATI seem to have done the trick. HURRAY!! I'll provide an edit update when the weekend is over after extensive testing .

    EDIT:

A full weekend up play under my belt. Not a single crash. For me? Problem 100% fixed by the new drivers. YMMV but if your still having issues it means your problem is most likely slightly different. It at least shows they are SLOWLY working on it.
  6. Personally i find the fast spawning enemies a boon. I just throw down a little cash, hit level 2, buy/immediately use about 10 of each inspiration, and run over to the hellion area with 4 purples still in my tray and unleash some low level hero heck. Use purples to mitigate streaks.

Boom suddenly 2-3 minutes later I'm level 4 and I've single handedly destroyed an entire contingent of hellions . Only thing I forgot to do was tell them "Get off my lawn."

I bought the Science booster, unlocked a second costume slot and used the Super Tailor to create a Humongous male in orange prison coveralls. The very next time he showed up to pester me I changed to my Prisoner costume and told him, "You my little puppy now baby. You gots a real purty mouf, Daddy gonna make you squeal lak a pig."

    I never saw him again.
I have to admit that's pretty funny .

  9. I'll agree, I'll also say to extend the level range of Matthew so that you can easily chain from Twinshot to Matthew or the other way around. That way You could do both on a character if you wanted, 1 after the other.

One of my favorite things in any superhero comic, movie, or game is seeing enemies get knocked back. If only in this game they divoted walls and sent allies tumbling when they hit them.

By the way, just this week, I got my first 50... and energy/energy Blaster.

...I think that supports both sides of the argument
In the same theme I know a TV series that was made by knockback. All i'm gonna say is it makes me want to make a Kevin Sorbo themed character :P.

Fire flight already exists in game by simply using any of the flaming Auras that are available at level 1 via GR and the Origins Booster. If you want to turn the aura off use the Halloween salvage to unlock the extra costume slot and change costumes.

A hoverboard isn't a travel power. It would be a costume recipe like Jet Boots, and Wings.
Definitely a necro'd thread, however I did LOL at reading this on the first page and then realizing most of it got implemented as the OP meant instead of what was stated in this quote :P. This is the inherent danger of such comments though .

Especially the hoverboard comment . You can quibble and say rocketboard but I delight in using it on the ground and having it be a hoverboard .
  12. I like em, the only thing that bothers me about them is the sound FX seems to play again on defeated enemies.
  13. And for cysts sake proper feet paws and hand paws to go with all sets without going monstrous.

But, it doesn't heal. And I've had plenty of times on my Sonic Defender where I watched everyones health bars trickle down slowly and a spot heal would have been perfect.

Aid Other helps enormously for those occasions where say the Controller next to you is asleep and you need to wake them up to turn the tide.
Precisely. As a bubbler you already have Aid other most likely or will get it. Clarity is mobile and has a duration but ultimately if you need to wake someone up aid other works pretty darn good. Seeing as your providing mezz protection from everything else those odd break frees have a tendency to show up upon people getting slept as well.

Clarity is just not worth it. If you can't adjust your bubble to re include someone or if they can't figure out to stay in the bubble if they don't want to get mezzed then you've got bigger issues than a power set power going on there lol. Any decent blapper better have a couple break frees or they deserve every death they eat to holds/sleeps/etc. with a bubbler on the team.

Well, no doubt, however it's price tag is prolly double what it should be. Then again I suppose they balance the price by the fact your more likely to reroll if you don't have it. For every person you have that work on though, there is another miffed that they have to spend 10 bucks to even have full functionality of the tailors, VIP or no.

The Super Tailor access is being sold on the new market by itself under Costumes/Tailor/Super Tailor Access for 800 points.
Yeah, it's being sold for the price of a power set, that's pretty criminal lol.

/signed on both accounts. I hate the bugs and the limited lengths of bio's and battlecries.

For cysts sake I would even pay for the friggen stuff on the market if it was priced similar to the cape/aura unlocks. In a heartbeat.

There's you real problem, you just failed as an RP'er. You always make an effort, every time, till it's not an effort anymore but an instinctive reaction. Also called "getting into character".

Again I know multiple RP'ers and they adapt flawlessly to near any situation. Me I just lightly RP here and there for kicks.

Its less of a problem in Force Field since Defense prevents secondary effects from hitting in the first place.
Alotta good mezz prot to prevent sleep for someone else you could just aid other instead is gonna do you when YOU get slept lol.

Both Sonic and FF need to replace the powers that almost no one ever takes with powers that better round out the set, such as a -Def/-Res field for FF.
Much as I love my TA I'm going to agree. PGA just needs some -regen and a lingering cloud/much longer duration (think more like glue arrow in duration/lingering cloud), Flash Arrow needs a slightly higher -tohit like 10% (it's good UNTIL the debuffs get cut by enemy levels).

Sonic and FF are hard. They're big powers are good enough and they have shown reluctance to change other or use the cottage rule. Best thing I can think of for sonic is to add resistance to the normal debuffs. Sonic conceptually supports resistance to slows, endurance drain, etc. Repulsion Bomb needs to be a guaranteed stun. The damage is not worth losing a for sure stun.

In fact it's not even that FF and Sonic are bad, it's more that they are simply overshadowed more now than ever. Cold and Thermal respectively take each to the cleaners, spit on them, and then laugh at them respectively.

Said crab also provides +16.99% to any teammates in range from Tactical Training: Maneuvers and another 5.32% from Pool Maneuvers...while laying out more AoE death than a defender can get outside of being Fulcrum Shifted, and while being able to do a -20/40% resistance debuff with Venom Grenade...and I don't even have the pair of purple sets I want for her yet.
Considering the defensive abilities and slotting potential of the VEATS I'm not sure it's fair to use one of those as an example.

So on one side you have Sonic with a stat that isn't easily capped off and in both buff and debuff flavors, but it has the worst designed filler powers in the game (see Sonic Repulsion). On the other hand you have FF, which caps out way faster, comes in only the buff variety, and filler powers that are terrible but no where near as bad as sonic's. Either way they are both in bad positions because of those crappy filler powers.
Ironically I recently rolled a Sonic/Beam Offender and I have gotten very good use out of Sonic Repulsion and saved a great number of people with it. I haven't got to Liquefy to properly judge that yet but from the description alone I can tell it needs at least the recharge of oil slick arrow (180 seconds) 300 seconds is massive overkill. I do agree that both the cage power and clarity are near worthless. Clarity on a set that has a status protection bubble? Really? Slap a to-hit buff in it at the very least since it improves perception.
  22. Honestly saying that either are better is silly. It entirely depends on the team, the build, and the power sets.

A corrupter is going to have minimal impact on a successful and quick killing team, as is a defender. A team in need of more damage is going to get slightly more help from the corrupter sometimes, slightly more help from the defender sometimes. Depending on the sets involved. A team in need of more survivability is ALWAYS going to get more help from the defender.

So you want a slight or possibly moderate damage advantage and the ability to "feel" like your contributing even more damage than you really are? Play a corrupter. You want to have a moderate defensive advantage for both you and your team but feel very lackluster in damage in most cases (regardless of how much your buffs might contribute).? Play a defender.

Defender has the definite advantage in survivability for themselves and team, Corrupter has a faster damage progression and normally contributes somewhere between slightly and moderately more damage. Additionally the more active sets erode the damage advantage. HOWEVER despite the larger overall advantage for defenders, thanks to the design of the game AND the influence of IO's and prominence of soft capping, corrupter enjoys the edge in most cases.

That being said few people are going to make a decision based on anything other than how fun it is to play. Play whats more fun. Offensive or defensive :P.
  23. Since we are going F2P and the market is going to be a big thing for the game, why doesn't if have it's own small segment of the forums somewhere?

This would give us a place to ask for things, give feedback, help other players, etc in regards to the market.

City of Heroes is supposed to be about role-playing, and it's really hard to roleplay when the new "conversational" style of dialogue keeps putting words in my characters' mouths that they, according to the character concepts I designed for them, would never say. Even when I'm given choices of what my character can reply, sometimes none of the choices fit -- if I were to have a character from Asgard who talks in "thees" and "thous", for example, I'd be totally out of luck finding dialogue that sounds like my character, and this degrades the roleplaying function of the game. Personally, what I would like to see is a "genericizing" of the dialogue options, such that instead of things like, <"I'll never join you! Prepare to eat my fist!"> we instead get <Refuse enemy's offer and attack him.> That would allow me to think of what my character would say and more effectively roleplay the experience, instead of feeling like I was just clicking through a rote script to get to the action.
The problem is that while this sounds better to you, and I understand exactly where your coming from, that would take away from the experience of most. Like it or not you gotta realize most people are light RP at best, and these choices are typically cool or amusing to them. Punching someone in the teeth is much more cool or amusing to read then lackluster refuse and attack .

That being said, most of your RP is really going to come from outside the mission dialog anyhows. I know several good RPer's and mish dialog never slows them (or my amusement at their antics).
  25. I'm going to have to agree they need to revamp the way missions send you around so much. I don't mind being given 3-4 rikti hunts in crey's back to back. People complain but then kill 4 times that many in a mission lol. I DO mind being sent to something 5+ minutes travel time away every other mission.

Just re-map the doors for alot of missions to be in zone leading to a truck, sub, helicopters, etc. Or use more "talk to me again to start" type missions. The occassional trek ain't bad. having it be constant sucks.

Also, in addition to making missions not "omg run around all of paragon repeatedly", extend the merits reward to the entire time. There are reasons people don't run normal missions much anymore. The time vs fun and time vs reward is badly crippled in comparison to other things.
