  1. I'm curious is the Mag 2 Scare last at all in pvp? says 4 seconds but does it really last that long or does it break too easily
  2. Hello everyone, i am a big fan of CoH/V, have been ever since launch and although i do take breaks now and again this game was my first MMO and has always had my fondest wishes for it.

I would like to submit an small ideas panel as to what i feel would allow this game to continue to deliver, in my opinion, the best heroic/villainous gaming experience out there. I accept any helpful responses as well as criticism, but please keep it productive.

    1. Fighting on the move mechanics - Not sure how impossible this would be but the ability to fight and move i have come to see is a real deciding factor for some, if the move roots them in place no matter how amazing the power is, people will overlook it.

    2. More combinations of powersets - This i was hoping would come during GR, however i am not certain if that is the case. I believe we have enough powers to keep us busy for quite sometime, however i for one would like to see more diverse amount of builds instead of being restricted to the Tank/Dps/Ranged Dps/Healer/CCer combination. In a world like CoX the freedom to be is the greatest super power of them all.

    3. I love all the improvements so far, and seeing everything that CoX has become has always put a smile on my face, the game has been around for 6 years now and many of it's players are core players, they live, breathe, play CoH/V. And although many of the farms/AE farms have been taken down by miles, i think faster xp is a real plus. I was thinking of possibly an XP critical system where as you are fighting along doing your thing and you defeat a mob and instead of giving standard xp from level 1-50 you have a chance for an Xp crit where you get *Up to* double the Xp you would normally get. (How many of us don't have X amount of level 50s?)

    4. this is a personal awesomeness idea, i would like to see more options for our characters (Costume wise). Now booster packs are a great idea in my opinion, i believe we have enough free costume pieces to keep us all going for a long time. I for one do not mind paying money for booster packs for costume designs emotes and such, i also believe that CoH/V should take full advantage of the fact people love making their characters look good. Booster packs (Brought out in small doses to ensure the money/time ratio of the animators is efficient) i believe are a great source of income for the game. (I for one have bought every booster pack/Version of the game minus Science/wedding...i'm a nerd...i know.)

These are just some of the ideas i feel would help benefit the game as a whole. I would love for this game to prosper and continue into the future, there really isn't anything like it and if the ideas continue to flow, there will never be anything that can compare to it. Thank you all for your time in reading this.
  3. I was curious as to how much accuracy is needed to hit a Super Reflex scrap/brute without applying any debuffs on them.

Annnd if i may, how much with -48% defense as well as -80% defense >.< if possible please.
  4. What does KB protect against exactly? Im sorry for my novice ways, but i am looking to get back into pvp for the most part and at least to me KB has always meant Knock back and not many powers did that (mainly energy attacks) am i missing something?
  5. Sorry to bother everyone but I've been very curious as to why people say 40KB protection is a MUST, i understand that if you're flat on your back you're a sitting duck but does everyone have enough Kb that high to make 40Kb resistance a must have?
  6. Ive been playing pain domination for pvp and zone pvp, i like the set its really nice, but im curious about a Cold dom for pvp now.

I understand Pain dom brings heals/small resist/to hit/-def and -resist.
From what i can see Cold dom brings: -rech/-regen -heals/-recov/-res -def. Just a lot of things it debuffs.

Im getting mixed messages that Cold Dom=Duals and Arena Pvp and Pain Dom=All 3
the problem i see is Pain dom doesnt debuff much at all, so the enemy is going at me full power, thanks to HD and DR my heals are weak and i cant use them within 5-7 seconds of each other without getting HD. Yes Cold Dom doesnt have a heal but ive seen it first hand shut players down right after they use their powers. I could really use some help/input in this debate. as for EPP i plan to go for Soul or Mu (Soul for Dark embarce/Power Boost up/Soulstorm) Mu for(Shackles/Charged armor)

    Few questions

Well first off i was curious, is GR going to bring in a new system for pvp? one the devs feel is better than the current one?
If so then cool, i wont bug too much
if not then...something needs to be done.
  8. I was the one who fought sun in that match.
    Here is what i did:
    /Ai Sunstormer
Set Timer to # of kills: 5
Set Level restriction since i was higher level than her
    hit list/start

    Was non inspiration fight.
I did not use any powers over her level which was 44.
    i have 2 lvl 30dmg, 1 lvl 30 acc, 1 lvl 45 rech level.
My tactic was to keep her at a distance because a toe to toe fight would be her win (tested it twice)
Kept my distance while holding her with Suppression/hitting her with Shackles, a found sometimes i had forgotten to swap rounds so had -defense on her with a mix of ice damage since she was fire. my attacks are Pistol, Dual wield, exec, pierce suppress and shackles (offensive) all with level 30 enhancements.

If shackles is bugged id prefer to avoid using it as often, but she is a claws/fire and it seemed to me more of a spam of moves that was draining during the 8s -recover that was burning her vs anything perma, but i wasnt on the receiving end of it so i cant tell.

    Defenders in Pvp

I'm sorry for taking so long to reply been working on my FF/DP Defender. I know people will say DP isn't all that great but there really is no other choice for me. My main focus for playing a Defender is to obtain roughly 5-6 moves from DP, and about 3-4 at most from my primary. So for example this is what i have now.

    Force Field:
    PFF
    ForceBolt
    Dispersion
    Force Bubble

    DP:
    Pistol
    Dual Wield
    Swap Ammo
    Exec. Shot
    Piercing rounds
    *Suppression Fire

    Fitness:
    Hurdle/Health/Stam
    Speed: Haste/SS
    Fighting: Kick/Tough/Weave
Leadership:Assault/Tactics *Maneuvers (if i dont take Supp fire)

    Electric Mastery:
    Thunder Strike/Charge armor/Power sink/Shocking bolt

From the numbers on mids if i went with this build and without suppression shot and with maneuvers in place i can get (full IOd) the build could reach about 33% defense (35/6 give or take as well) However it has no heal which could be a problem. currently it does well vs squishies, but vs at least melee if i dont have Force bubble up im in trouble. (could be my defense though seeing as (with my current IOs i have only 20% defense and about 77% resistance *dont have tough in my current build but with the new idea tough would bring my resistance to 100%)

My other concept was a Emp/DP Nearly the same set up except replace

    Force Field/Emp
    PFF >>>>Healing Aura
Force Bolt>>>>Empty Clips/heal Other *For the recharge IO at least
Dispersion>>>>Recovery Aura *Full recharge+Perma Haste makes this a 1.5m recharge and 1.5 uptime
Force Bubble>>>>>Regen Aura **Same as Recover aura

the rest is the same. the numbers of mids say that it can reach 1300% + regen, and about 530% recov for 90 seconds, my main focus would be dmg so the idea is to go in hit up the two auras and focus primary on dmg, the problem Forcefield has vs this is forcefield requires at least 1 extra toggle, but provides much higher defense 33% vs the 12% im getting from this however from what mids says ill be getting close to 61Hp per second for that 90 seconds and has a 280hp heal every 5 seconds. It's a small form of dmg mitigating i suppose, and it's nice to have a heal i can run with.

I would like some input and some ideas tossing around if possible. There is no Changing DP, Force Field was my main idea and the one im currently building, however the Regen idea was an interesting concept in my mind.

    Defenders in pvp

I love you conflict.....Reason why and i know you'll stab me but im going with Forcefield/DP,

    Forcefield:

    PFF - Disperse-Force Bubble-Maybe* *Repulsion

Nearly all DP moves: Minus HoB-BR

    Leadership :Assault-Tactics

    Fitness: Hurdle-Health-Stam

    Speed-Haste-SS

Concealment or Medicine: Conc-Stealth-Invisability-Phase shift/First Aid: Aid other Aid Self

EPP Power Mastery: Conserve Power-Power Build Up-FoN-Temp Invuln

would be my idea for pvp

its my idea for arena pvp, concealment helps for the OH SNAP moment, but it lacks the heal which a 40% heal comes in handy.

For zone pvp it would be a much different build because although i like the survivability of the theoretical build it has no way of locking down an opponent who will run away over and over.

As always your input is very much valued Conflict and any criticism is also. Its a concept idea i have and still not sure what it can do, but anything is worth trying (getting familiar with mids so far and numbers look good on paper.

    Defenders in pvp

Sorry to bother everyone but im curious about defenders in pvp, a friend of mine says defenders are laughable in pvp, i have a concept in mind for my defender for pvp but i am not sure how well it will do, its all in theory at the moment. I would just like some input if he is remotely correct or is a defender capable in pvp to actually finish off an opponent or stand there being a punching bag and laughed at.

  13. Recently i recruited a friend to CoH/V shes paid for 3 months of game time and is already past the 1 month free time. She wants going rogue but every time she tries to pay for it, she gets an error saying "We're sorry, but we are unable to accept your order at this time. Please try again later or tomorrow. If you continue to have problems, you may wish to visit one of our retail partners." anyone able to help as to why she gets that message? even tried using my own card and same message, petitioned a Gm and they escalated the petition but its been 3 days

Defenders, Corruptors, and Blasters did not need a powerset that would "shine" in terms of sheer performance. Masterminds did. That's one of the reasons for which, I think, Demon Summoning is the more powerful among the two sets that came out recently.

But that's still a very minor reason when put against the fact that there is no link between Demon Summoning and Dual Pistols in any way, and that there is absolutely no restriction that would suggest these two powersets should both be the "shining" powersets in their respective archetypes.

Yes, you can complain that Dual Pistols need a boost because it's not as powerful as other sets (eventhough I wouldn't agree with it). But you cannot complain that Demon Summoning is powerful and shiny, THEREFORE Dual Pistols needs to be powerful and shiny too. That's just a logical fallacy.
I can see that to a degree, MMs needing something more powerful than what they already are, the demons tanking abilities and their damage abilities far exceed any of the others, finding a lot of brutes already complaining with even one demon summoner its difficult to even hold aggro (eh im riding that one off as him probably not knowing how to hold it, due to a lot of new players in the game, but then again....) I can only say from what im seeing, but i believe the core of my "complaints" is more of a why does dp have to select from 3 very underpowered elemental rounds, and MMs can have all 3? and especially for Corrupters who's base ability scourge, only scourges the lethal part of, actually weakening the strikes if you had Swap ammo. I know some would say "well then just dont take SA" but that's a bit ignorant if you ask me. I think they put a bit more thought into DS vs DP and thats pretty sucky, one of the guys up top said something like "Different damage types isn't that big of a deal" which is true but the effects behind the rounds if placed together would make DP a nice and unique corrupter/blaster/defender Powerset. Fire doesn't stack but they last long enough to feel it, when it hits. the - damage is small, as is the slow from cryo, i just don't see why they placed limitations on the power of one, and not the other.

This will be my last post, less i feel the need to do more, but i thank you all very much for attempting to help me take in the thoughts, i do see your point miss bright, and i like your little dancing avatar . It's just odd to see when they bring out a set as nice as Dp then have it be limited the way it is, at least from my view and only for the time being. I love Dp and it's been the most fun ive had in a looong time. I appreciate all the feedback and tossing of thoughts! Thank you

DP and DS weren't designed specifically to bring something new to this "table" of yours, unless I've missed a developer speaking on this.

Recently, any powerset they have given us has had unique features. You get the Combo system with Dual Blades, you have a very offensive power in a Defensive set like Shields, you have a very unique defensive set like Willpower which mixes all form of damage protection, etc. etc.

Dual Pistols has incredibly unique "style" (not just in animations), with powers like Piercing Rounds and Hail of Bullets. It also has incredible adaptability to any situation by being able to switch damage type and secondary effects on the fly; which makes it an incredibly versatile set both for teams and when solo. And to a lot of people, it's just darn fun! But fun seems to be a long-forgotten concept to some people with their heads clouded by numbers and stats.

Demon Summoning is also unique because it's a more "active" mastermind set, with -RES effects, various types of demons, very unique animations and effects, and a solid gameplay with is also fun; especially with a very, very unique set of skills involving whipping, and an incredibly fun power to use: Hell on Earth.

Look past numbers and values for a few minutes. It's game. Have fun! Enjoy the fact that all your powers look ten times cooler than that other Corruptor who extends his/her arms and shoots INSERT_GENERIC_DAMAGE_TYPE out of his/her fists. Enjoy the fact that when an Elite Boss is resistant to most damage types, you can switch to Toxic Ammo and laugh at his shields.

Granted, I do agree that the Corruptor version of Dual Pistols needs a little buff to be slightly more functional besides being just fun. On the other hand, a lot of Corruptors have access to Buffs and DeBuffs that makes their primary attacks vastly superior to that of a Blasters (I'm talking about powers like Fulcrum Shift, Sleet, Tar Patch, Radiation toggles, etc). So I can understand why it is justified for Dual Pistols to be under-performing for Corruptors when USED PURELY ON ITS OWN.

And above all, again, just because a powerset is new, it doesn't mean it should be "top-tier".
Actually i really enjoy my Dp very much, when i mean "table" i mean the uniqueness vs the standard and the hybrid class, Dp is the only powerset that brings together a system that allows you to change your powers to somewhat fit the situation. Demon summoning seems to bring all 3. I really enjoy your post because it is true, fun > all regardless of the numbers, however its a bit sad that Dp comes out and its considered one of the weakest blaster/defender*/and Corrupter set, and Demons comes out and its one of the best MM sets? not looking for high numbers, just a reason i suppose. Again i am sorry if i come off as a "FLAMEFLAMEQQ" poster, really not my intention, MMs work much differently than Corrupter but they do share very similar secondaries, one just has an army the other is ( solo (and i know its not black and white like that)

    Dp Vs DS

Eh, maybe im going at this the wrong way, its not that the damage type is necesserily anything special i guess what im a bit confused about is youve got DS looks pretty beefy, and pretty solid of a set (almost feels op from what im hearing a lot) and youve got DP which feels very up, yet both of them were designed to come and bring something new to the table. DS has quite a bit to bring to the table from the looks of it, stacking - resistance, and a pretty decent army. Dp brings long animations (sweet looking ones but still) and lackluster rounds that at least for a corrupter hurts the dps once scourge is taken into place (because from what im seeing the elemental damage portion of the rounds doesnt scourge just the lethal). I am likely misguided in my way of thought but you folks are right in the sense that they are two different classes and shouldn't be compared in the sense.
  17. Solistion

    Dp Vs DS

I would agree with you in all honesty, however seeing as they are both new to the table and seemingly designed to bring a little something extra to the table it hardly seems "fair" to use the term for a lack of better words to place a limit on one and not the other.I hardly see the downside to allowing Dp to use their full arsenal rather than keep them bound up while DS is a bit free to do all of it and more.
  18. Solistion

    Dp Vs DS

Maybe it's just me but anyone else feeling kind of robbed? sorry for any ignorance for my feeling this way, but Dual Pistols seem to have access to 1 of 3 elemental changes to their rounds, but Demon summoning has access to all 3. Demon summoning of course has quite a bit of damage to back up it's tankish style (Low level or high) i don't see why Dual pistols couldn't have had all 3 elemental damage combined with its initial ability without rounds. I haven't gone through the numbers and im sure someone will put me in my place about this, but at first glance and teaming with ....quite a few of them, its a bit difficult for me to see the justification in it. Any assistance in helping me understand would be welcomed.
  19. I know i'm newb to all of this and i apologize to all of you who have to read this >.< but what % of perception should i have to have a good chance to see Stalkers/Widows in pvp and by that i mean, to have enough chance to see them before they can pull off a successful AS ( i know most are encouraged to go for the regular crit strike and not the AS due to efficienc but still)
  20. Or is the Resistance from it not good for pvp? i dont know the numbers but was very curious would it feel like a scrapper? or just fail? i would think Lightning reflexes could help Placate move faster and it has a nice heal too (i think) unless im wrong, any further info would be greatly appreciated.

    Zone

Both can be hard as hell to bring down in zones, I would lean toward the pb though with the slow peoples inability to look up. If the zone has some decent talent in it though you would be better served on the veat. Because once a flier with ranged damaged is recognized you can count on spending alot of time on the ground. You will find in zones a lot of people will stubbornly stand and whiff on a veat giving you ample time to get kills.

    Duels

Completely would depend on playstyle. If you want lots of heals with some tricks and ranged damage go pb. If you want to go with a more hit and move kind of approach do the veat.

Alot of the power builds can wreck either of these so know that going into it. Also know that either a pb or veat played well and built well can be next to impossible to drop.
Awesome explination thank you very much conflict Peacebringers are a lot of fun from what i feel and my costumes pretty smexy... and ive known some pretty good Veats i am likely going to stick to the PB for heroes, however its nice to know a Widow can perform just as nice if i go back to villains, really appreciate the input will do my best to be great
  22. Alright so i decided to go with the Peacer (Thank you all who pitched in to help me realize the error in my ways :P) but now i have another fight. Peacebringer or Night Widow which would be the best for Pvp, from what im told* (Prior to asking here) a Night widow can be built pretty nicely for Zone, Arena and Pvp Duels, however i am also told* that their defense makes them lame. I know a Peacer relies on resistance while a NW is Defense, which would you say would be best suited for the fights

    Arena
    Zone
    Duel

*Note: Not too fond of Fortunatas, but i could with dual spec.
  23. Thanks Mac, really appreciate the response from everyone here. I finally found a good name (or at least i feel its a good name) so im going to level both of them with equal names see which one i prefer. One mistake i made was i though Stygian circle Required only live players, i had no idea it needed dead ones (i could have sworn it was live) so i can see the lack in heals. I know its not the only thing but i can more or less see how it can be even more difficult.

I like kheldians, always have, just never thought id play one till now. Thank you all for the input once again !

More heals, more range. It also has build up. Better built in travel as well.

If you play it anything like a scrapper you are probably doing it wrong. If you use anything in melee besides a drive by incandescent strike you are doing it wrong.

    also , lol ice blast

I gave you enough reasons in my first post. One of the best ways to know something will be bad in pvp is if it a pve god. They can be useful sometimes but are seldom the powerhouse they are in pve.

pb > ws in any pvp scenario.

Makes sense to me, sorry again for making it sound like i wasn't taking your advice, i was just trying to gather the info for the most part. Other than that i believe i know what you're saying and for the most part makes sense. Thank you much for all the info.
  25. Im not trying to offend you Conflict, im a returning player, i try and get info from all sources. I am very sorry if i offended you, I just like to get as much info as i possibly can. So far from what i get from some peacers "PB Is better because its single target damage" or "It has Dull pain and human heal" but noone really goes into detail to help me understand WHY its better. I understand it plays like a scrapper blaster mix, and i know by fighting vs Ice blasters and controllers that -recharge on attacks really hurt. Im not looking for videos or solid evidence like that, im just looking for a reasonable reason why Peacers are better than Shades when to a degree both can play as equals.

From what Im told Eclipse can be put on perma and with the range that nova has, who wouldnt want a blaster that can take hits with that much resistance (it looks doable, but again im no expert, i can count on you to give me a lot of useful info and everyone else does too, i just feel it might be more than just black and white peacers are better because they are up front damage) Again i apologize for any offense i may have caused, im just the type of person that gathers all info then makes a definitive choice, or at least tries to
