Defenders in pvp

Sorry to bother everyone but im curious about defenders in pvp, a friend of mine says defenders are laughable in pvp, i have a concept in mind for my defender for pvp but i am not sure how well it will do, its all in theory at the moment. I would just like some input if he is remotely correct or is a defender capable in pvp to actually finish off an opponent or stand there being a punching bag and laughed at.

Ceratin builds are completely vialble in team pvp and some can duel. Alot can be laughable but it really comes down to a set and situtation basis to judge it. The one thing defenders still lack is either and escape or +perception power in their epics. Once that is fixed they will be become even better.

I love you conflict.....Reason why and i know you'll stab me but im going with Forcefield/DP,

Forcefield:

PFF - Disperse-Force Bubble-Maybe* *Repulsion

Nearly all DP moves: Minus HoB-BR

Leadership :Assault-Tactics

Fitness: Hurdle-Health-Stam

Speed-Haste-SS

Concealment or Medicine: Conc-Stealth-Invisability-Phase shift/First Aid: Aid other Aid Self

EPP Power Mastery: Conserve Power-Power Build Up-FoN-Temp Invuln

would be my idea for pvp


its my idea for arena pvp, concealment helps for the OH SNAP moment, but it lacks the heal which a 40% heal comes in handy.

For zone pvp it would be a much different build because although i like the survivability of the theoretical build it has no way of locking down an opponent who will run away over and over.

As always your input is very much valued Conflict and any criticism is also. Its a concept idea i have and still not sure what it can do, but anything is worth trying (getting familiar with mids so far and numbers look good on paper.

Its really nice to have aim to make sure forcebolt hits. If you are teaming in arena with it go concealment. If you know you will always have an emp they can grant the tohit with fort and cover the +perc. Dp is not the best choice but you can make it work for casual stuff if you must. I promise you a well slotted fender forcebolt will put just about everyone that isn't melee(and even some of them) on their butts.

As a zone stalker there are more than a few reasons why what you are suggesting will be a major target.

- No Vertical movement on a squishy
- Dual Pistols, massive roots easy to set up AS'es
- The combination of DP and no Vertical movement meaning you can't even jump time the animations.
-PFF/Phase No way to restore your HP outside of greens. With HD that is gonna suck.
-PFF/Aid Self - Landing damage through PFF isn't too hard on a build with global acc or an AIM/BU Window.

If I were really sold on FF, I'd probably go with Grav/FF first. FF/Sonic if you really wanted to go defender. I don't think many people in zones are actually built to resist Force Bolt, so you could set up some nice KB/Mez spikes for a team or just whoever really.

I love defenders for pvp and dueling. A ff/dp isn't gonna have enough damage for duels, but dont let that stop you from trying.

Think most "duel" defender's are rad or cold primary and psi or sonic secondary. I enjoy dark blast on my cold defender for the heal.

put plenty of slots into Force Bolt.

Good catch lib, I forgot to look over the build. You definitely want sj. And yes in zones dp is as bad as sonic blast at screaming as me please.

I have to mention that a guy I knew had a FF/sonic, which he did really well on. Annoyed me to the point that I had to ask him for a truce lol. Seriously, stay away from DP. Sonic is definitely the best set imo. You get both aim, and some -res. By the time someone's getting up from force bolt, you can hit them with screech and get 2-3 more seconds of spike time, and each attack adds up. And PFF does work fairly well. Definitely not a phase, but it will save you against at least half the people in the zones, which isn't bad at all. Combine that with phase, and you would be pretty unkillable.
