Same thing here. I was just standing in WW on Virtue and then poof. It's also randomly happened while running through Atlas Park.
Haven't had any issues until the Winter Event Patch. I seem to crash at least once a day now. Either the game totally stops responding from just standing or when I try loading into Lord Winter's Realm.
Assertion failed

Quote:Self Destruct has a couple of uses that I find worthwhile:This. The funny thing is my favorite origin is Tech but for me the Tech booster is the least interesting. I don't hugely care for robot characters and the self destruction power is pretty much useless except in the sewers. Ninja Run on the other hand is extremely useful.
If you're in a situation where you're about to be defeated anyways, activating the power pretty much gives you debt protection. (Not that debt is a big deal anyways... but still)
Base/Hospital porter. As it does not give you debt, this is a handy way to travel across a zone or access your SG base (should you not have the vet reward or day job power)
The only pack that I consider "useless" is the Wedding Pack. I suppose that it was worthwhile in the sense that the extra revenue brought us the VEATs early but other than that, I don't see much of a use for it. But to each their own.
Still, options are always a good thing. The more options we have, the better this game becomes. -
I like the new event. Some thoughts:
Do we know the population cap for each instance? It's really annoying to have 3 or so full teams enter at once only to be one of the few people booted to instance 2.
Lord of Winter's phasing seems to phase the tileset. Is this WAI? Or just a graphic glitch? I experienced it on two separate machines.
Merit rewards - being that you can "fail" the event, maybe the guardians and LoW should each drop 2 merits each instead of the whole event dropping 8?
I do like the fact that the map itself is random. That definitely adds a nice touch to the event.
How is the present timer configured? Each time I participated in the event, the amount of time to being able to open the present has been random - ranging from ~5m30s to ~2m.
Completely unrelated side note: If Croatoa ever gets a revamp, it would be nifty to have a section that is completely iced over with snowbeasts and such. Maybe even a new mini taskforce similar to Katie Hannon (in length). -
Quote:tl;drI'll give you a bit of background on it.
The old Hami event had problems, we all knew that. Most of us didn't participate in Hami raids, though, so we only knew about it via bug reports, datamining and second hand observation. One day, I wandered into Pohsyb's office while he was on one of these events. I talked with him and watched for half an hour, all the while he floated up near the zone ceiling dropping Phantom Army down onto Hami, along side 2 or 3 other Illusion controllers. That was his job...it was boring.
After that, I started paying more attention to the Hami event and how it was run and I realized the entire event was like that -- aberrant playstyle atop aberrant playstyle. I decided that, at some point, we should really do something about it.
Nothing happened, though. I never got a clear idea of what *should* be done to improve it, and it sort of languished in that state...until BABs was hired.
He was a veteran Hami-raider, and had definite ideas of how to make a better raid. He campaigned for production to put time in the schedule to revise the event, and eventually got it. Then he, myself, Ghost Falcon and a few others (I don't actually recall who all was involved at the time, Posi may have been, Pohsyb, too, maybe even geko...but I don't remember) sat down in a series of meetings and hashed out BABs design. The end result was the new event.
I can certainly understand the feelings of the folks who miss the social aspect of the old raid. It's similar to me missing the social aspect of EQ's camp a spot gameplay. It wasn't fun, but it gave you plenty of time to meet new people and to socialize, and in many ways, that's what these games are for.
It's all BAB's fault! :P
Anyways, I like both incarnations of the raids for different reasons. The social aspect was a lot of fun and having a ton of characters gathering up to take on this super-ultra foe just seemed very... heroic. Like the entire Justice League or Green Lantern Corp gathering to take on this epic threat.
With the "new" Hami Raid... less epic in that regard with the 50 player max. It's also annoying when a raid is announced and the zone fills up quickly.
Perhaps the cap could be raised to 75 or 100 people at some point?
The timer on the rewards is annoying as well. With the old style you could get maybe 2 or 3 raids in succession depending on how many people wanted to hang around.
Now that Hami-Os are (relatively) obsolete that we have the Invention System, maybe a new type of reward should be looked at. Yea, merits are great and all... but you can get them everywhere. Perhaps something to complement the merits? Like a temp power of sorts? Being able to summon a Hami mito (weakened version of course) as a pet would be sweet. Or a Hami shield power. Heck, even a Hami Beam temp power would be sweet!
Okay, went off a tangent...
Hami raids were, are and forever will be entertaining- Hey look, a nickel!
Btw... anyone remember Kronos Titans being spawned during the raids? Ahhhh the good ol' days. -
Quote:Flight has different poses via emotes. Is something like that is doable? That's my point. We don't have any travel powers with multiple animations, be it in a single power or multiple powers.
Disclaimer: I don't care one way or another about "Walk." I'm just curious -
Looks like it was all the west coast servers.

Quote:I hope this is the case, or at least part of it.Adding to the speculation, since vigilantes and rogues still use their home contacts/market, my speculation would be that they would not be kicked out of a SG/VG that they're currently in. Only when they go all the way to the other side would that happen.
Unless they totally revamp the system.
Hrm, I wonder if allowing SGs and VGs to coalition would be an option at some point. I mean, there are plenty of times when heroes and villains have had to work together for a common good. So why not? Same coalition rules would apply.
Also, if the "grey area" characters can access all three zones, does that mean that Hero and Villain bases could potentially get porters to access their respective counter-sides?
And if that's that case, would bases themselves need to be looked at so that they're capable of having X amount additional teleporters. I'd love to see additional storage capacity as well. -
I know the Vanguard mech is bugged at the moment, but are Shivans bugged too?
I tried to summon one recently while exemp on the Synapse TF and the power failed but a charge on the power was used.
I sent in a bug report as well but figured I'd ask here.
(Searched, didn't see anything - if this is known/reported already - Oops.) -

These people who've only ever played AE have had a greater selection of content than us old-schoolers ever had.
[/ QUOTE ]
More disjointed than any content we ever played, and they have no clue about the 'world' in which they're playing.
[ QUOTE ]
I haven't run most of the Task Forces in game, but I don't feel like I'm short of stuff to do. Some people only play Melee classes, or only play certain types of Defenders. Some people never solo. Everyone limits their play experience in some way.
[/ QUOTE ]
There's a difference between 'limiting' and 'crippling.'
Personally, I've got to agree with "Set the lower limit at level 10." There's at least a gap there where they'll have to get out of the sewers and learn how to do things like, oh, *find* missions.
Which, IMHO, is also a call for more (official, new/refreshed) lower level content. Who knows, maybe they'll get drawn into some of the *official* story and learn there are actually... I don't know, zones?
[/ QUOTE ]
Wasn't there a recent (within the past few months) dev interview where they said that because the AE offers limitless content that they weren't going to focus on new contacts/missions but rather on task forces and other things?
I'm not endorsing that idea as I disagree with it, but I'm pretty sure that's what I read. And was as disappointed then as I am now. -

Awesome power I agree...but the wind-up is very cartoony.

Part of the charm, IMO. I wish my tankers could eat a can of spinach right before the windup.

Sounds like a great idea for a costume change emote! -
So I'm running the first mission of the Ghost Widow patron arc on Victory yesterday, and I cleared the map (and clicked the glowie) but the mission did not complete. I fired up a petition and waited patiently for CS.
A short while goes back and I get a response from a GM asking if I still needed help. Here's where the fun starts.
I replied to the tell stating that I did still need help and explained the issue.
A few seconds go by and the GM asks again if I need help and if I am getting his tells.
I respond again.
He then posts -the same thing- in local chat and also adds in that my character may be unresponsive or AFK.
I respond in local chat.
And still nothing. And then he leaves.
Has anyone ever encountered something like that before? -

tried doing an unrated pentad hero vs villain match, no badge- is it bugged?
[/ QUOTE ]
Me and some friends tried doing the hero septad and were not awarded the badge. (we had a kheld friend that wanted the badge).
We tried various settings but nothing seemed to work. I sent in a bug report.
The hero vs hero pentad worked fine for us though.
[/ QUOTE ]
Do you remember the settings you used for the pentad match?
[/ QUOTE ]
We did unrated and number of kills (2 kills).
We tried the same settings for the septad but it didn't work. -

If you have any Crab powers, in either build, you will have the pack. This is WAI, currently, and not a bug.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hrm. So if I respec my 2nd build that has the crab pack (that I never use) it'll get rid of it on the bane build? SCORE.
Thank you for that info!
Man, I wish I would've known this before they gave the freespecs... I woulda burned my last one! Ah well. -
I'm rather disappointed that the devs have chosen to do this during a work day.
*hides firefox window so the boss doesn't see* >_> -
Not sure if this is the proper place to post this, or if this has been posted before, and not even sure if this would be considered a bug.
One of the fortunes that can be granted makes the recipient take self damage. That's fine. The issues comes to play in Recluse's Victory. If someone has that particular fortune on them, is defeated and goes to the hospital, the fortune will stay persistent on the player for the 20 minutes and then defeat the player again and again unless they use an inspiration to offset the damage before their regen kicks in. (At least this was the case for a controller. Other ATs may not experience this issue).
Now, is this something that slipped through or working as intended? (A friend sent a bug report in game but I happen to see this thread and figured I'd mention it here as well). -
I didn't see this question answered (not sure if it was asked actually) but will trial accounts be able to rate missions/arcs?
-
Regarding the mission teleporter:
Has the bug where you cannot set certain missions if everyone isn't in the same zone been fixed yet?
Because if it hasn't, the novelty of power while being teamed goes way down.
Example:
Mission in Brickstown - players spread out through Talos, Founders, and that one new guy who's still wandering around Atlas Park.
Anyways, just my 2cents.
Also, I think the 2 hour timer is more than fair. I mean come on... how often are you running an arc where the missions aren't relatively close to each other? The way I see the Mission TPer - it's there for those times that the missions are really far apart - like a "talk to" from Crey's to Atlas Park (and even then, Oro works perfectly) or for those missions that are impossible to find. And if you're on a task force that has missions all over, chances are others on the team will have either recall friend, vet recall, oro portals and the like - as well as the mission TPer so they can recall you. -
Objective Feedback:
I'm not sure how to describe this, but sometimes winter mobs will be huddled around a present and then de-spawn when you approach. You can then click the present and it results in a "naughty" and nothing spawns. It's rather annoying.
The slopes (all of them) feel a bit difficult to me but most people I know say that they're doable and just require patience.
Subjective Feedback:
I like the concept behind the presents and snow critters.
I think a "winter themed" zone would be a nifty addition to the game. A small co-op zone perhaps similar to Croatoa with optional content for both sides. There could be a task force where you have to take out a Winter Lord at the end or possibly even prevent a Winter Lord from being created by other snow critters. The clockwork paladin coding could be utilized? Tuuatha and Redcaps could be included in the zone as well as snow critters and maybe some new additions like flying reindeer or some type of candy cane critter? An iced over lake would be a nice addition as well so people could ice skate.
New badges and maybe even an accolade power or costume pieces could be associated with the zone. Ice skates perhaps?
I know a lot of people hate the "invasions" but I would be in favor a a winter style invasion event also. Random castings of "freezing rain" or "snow storm" would be interesting too. I don't know how complicated it would be to "snow over" a zone but having snow on buildings, the streets, random ice slicks, etc would be a lot of fun.
Okay, that's my wishlist.
Oh yea, please don't make the Winter Universal Travel power set unique. Not being able to slot it into sprint, fine I can understand that. But I would like to be able to slot it into SS and SJ on the same toon thanks -
The Dev Diary on Day Jobs really should be updated to say that the badges require 21 days of offline time, not 30, as per:

How about a Zombie attack with a Rikti invasion...=P.....
[/ QUOTE ]
I SO want to see this happen. I am so there for that! -
I'm loving the event!
Couple of things I noticed though:
ToT "Spirits" are not spawning nearly as much as the rest.
No tier 3 insp like last year (no biggie really)
I also agree about the lack of distinction between multiple instance zones. But oh well, same happens w/ the Rikti invasions
Invasion timer seems a bit odd. I've been on 6 hrs or so and notice that either all zones get hit, or 1 or 2 zones get hit. On Virtue, there was a mass invasion (all zones) around 6:45 pm EST, then two seperate zones around 7:30 pm, and then the next invasion wasn't until after 9:00 pm.
Overall, lots of fun!
PS, Jack in Irons needs to spawn more
