  1. So much for getting /auctionhouse on my second account on launch.

    More fail for i21. Yay.
  2. For what it's worth, I have friends who have been playing CoH just as long as I have and who are so confused by the invention system.

However, I don't attribute that to how the system is setup. They just never really took the time to explore it or learn about it.

And for the way they play the game, they really don't care to. And that's fine.

Personally, I don't really see a problem with how the system is setup. Everything is categorized and broken down.

I think the salvage tiers may need a little work between 25/30 and 40/45 but other than that I really don't see a problem.

There are plenty of guides on the forums to help people who have questions.

Like anything in the game (or life really) if you really want to learn something, you invest the time to do it. If you're not willing to invest the time then that's your call.

    -I was 22, I'm now 28
-I still work for the same company (sorta), worked my way from up from sweeping and grunt work to the office and working directly with our clients
-My father's health has declined considerably
-My health has gone up and down
-I bought my first gaming PC specifically for CoH after a few months of playing. (First time I've ever bought a PC for a game)
-I bought a second specifically for CoH after the previous one had issues and was outdated
-Traveled across the country to see some awesome people I met in game - It was my first time traveling on a plane, and my first time traveling alone.
-Paid off all my college and credit card debt. Currently debt free and well in the green.

    Freedom? Hardly

While I'm not overly thrilled with how things are panning out with Freedom and all the micro-transactions involved for paying subscribers, I do see the f2p aspect as an extended and better version of the CoH Trial Accounts.

Going from memory, the f2p is a lot less restrictive from trial accounts. So really you're getting a better preview of the game. And if you like what you see, you have various options to make your experience better.

So in that regard, I think they did things right. Give people an appetizer for free so they'll spend money on the entree and possibly buy some dessert while they're at it.

  9. Gonna throw my 2 cents in here for a moment.

While I've been using the NCSoft Launcher to keep my game client up to date, I always launch the client using the old "bypass the updater" shortcut.

And even after the old launcher was canned, this method still worked.

(There is an actual reason as to why I launch that way - it has to do with some keyboard shortcuts that I have that do not work when I used the old updater)

Either way, as of last week that method was no longer working. The game would launch and I would get to the login screen - enter my info to login and then the game would hang until an error message popped up about not being able to connect to server, check firewalls, etc.

However, using the NCSoft Launcher to launch the game allowed me to login no problem.

Incidentally, my keyboard shortcuts do work through the NCSoft Launcher even though they wouldn't with the old COH updater.

Still, figured it was worth mentioning.

Also, FPARN! (My first one me thinks) ^.^
  10. When I first started playing, nearly all of my toons were Solaranger<InsertColorHere> - The inspiration being that they were part of a Sentai team.

When I ran out of colors that made sense thematically, I turned to <InsertSpecial>ranger as the name.

    Examples:

    SolarangerWhite
    SolarangerBlue
    etc

    And then:

    Blastranger
    Phantomranger
    etc

For the first Zombie Apocalypse, I had made Zombie Fryer, a werewolf, with the intention of leveling him and dinging 50 during the event. (The idea was a werewolf battling zombies) ZF's half-baked back story has taken some tweaks over the years - I'm not much of a RPer so the back story doesn't matter much overall to how much fun he is to play.

Ever since then, most of my toons have followed the Zombie <InsertCookingMethod> here.

    Hence:

    Zombie Fryer
    Zombie Deep Fryer
Zombie Smasher (you smash stuff to cook right?)

    And most comically... Zombie EasyBakeOven

    Anddddd that's my story
  11. So I had been playing my Fire/Kin for a couple of years and pretty much knew the ins and outs of my powers. Or so I thought.

During a Hami raid, things weren't going as good as they should've and the raid leader recommended that some of the kins follow around the Spike team and Fulcrum Shift off of Yellow Mitos. Yellow Mitos are vulnerable to melee attacks and are pretty much immune to everything else (psi attacks are an exception).

So after like, what, 3 - 4 years of playing my Fire/Kin... I find out that Fulcrum Shift has an Auto-Hit component to it.

Lesson learned, even when you think you know all there is to know about your toon, you can still learn something new.
  12. O_O OH SHI- THAT'S TOMORROW.

I will be there. I will be there. I will be there. I will be there. I will be there. I will be there. I will be there. I will be there. I will be there. I will be there. I will be there. I will be there. I will be there. I will be there. I will be there. I will be there.

    *foams at the mouth*

    :O~~~~
  13. That is fricken awesome!

    Congratulations!

    *hands Klondike bar as reward*
  14. Zombie Fryer has spent 4054 hours on Patrol. Kinda scary when I think about it...
  15. Virtue has an unending supply of nachos and Klondike Bars.

    'Nuff said.
  16. I believe there is an option in the NCSoft Launcher to allow multiple instances of CoH.

I'm at work right now so I can't check where in the Launcher it actually is.

Also, when you load your instances, I would use "/maxinactivefps 5" (without the quotes) on each instance as it will improve performance by limiting the inactive instance until you swap back to it.

I would be happy to check for you later when I get home, but I'm sure someone will beat me to it!

As much as I love the concept of Time Travel, this really irks me how they pick and choose when and how they implement the ole Temporal Prime Directive.

I mean... the Star Trek 2009 movie shouldn't have happened given the TPD.

You would think something as big as someone destroying planet Vulcan in the past would show up on their sensors.

Still, I'm hopeful for a new series. I just hope with the younger casting that they don't make it too much like a WB Teen Drama, or like that episode of Stargate SG1 ("200" I think) where they were talking about Wormhole Extreme and the concept of a younger/edgier cast. >_>

    Goodnight, Irene

I live on the south shore of Long Island. My town was in the evac south (South of Sunrise Highway) but we decided to stay.

Fortunately the hurricane wasn't as bad as they predicted, in my area anyways.

Some neighboring towns got hit much harder than we did.

We lost power briefly Sunday 3:00am but it came back on within a minute. Our cable and internet held out until Sunday late afternoon. It's been offline since. What really sucks is that there's service a few blocks from my house. There's no ETA when service on my block will be restored. So that means no CoH until it's fixed

I've been tethering my cell phone for internet here and there but my phone gets super hot if I leave it going for too long.

The railroad on my branch is still suspended. I had to catch a ride to work with my brother this morning - meant getting up 90minutes earlier than usual, and being at work an hour early. Ugh. Not sure how I'm getting home lol

    tl;dr

Hurricane wasn't as bad in my area. I'm safe. No internet/cable. Trains not running.
  19. When there's a Zombeh on your team, you get nachos and klondike bars.
  20. Thanks for suggestions

I'll have to mess around in mids a little more.

Felt it here on Long Island near JFK.

The building where I work shook for about 15 - 20 seconds. Freaky stuff!
  22. I'm totally clueless when it comes to Fire Armor.

Generally when I build my toons, I slot for positional defense. In this case, that wasn't working so I went for Smashing/Lethal.

I managed to soft cap at 45.4% Def to S/L along with 73.4% Res to Fire.

Is this a viable PVE/Farming build or did I overlook something?

    Any help/critique would be appreciated
