I have one as well! Picked it up from the website. And after I completed checkout, it was sold out.
  2. It's been a fun ride. I remember when I first started playing how reluctant I was to even install the game. In fact, it wasn't even my account I was playing on. My brother and his friend were sharing the account but they hardly ever played. After finding out that a few friends were playing, I asked him if I could futz around and check it out.

Fast forward seven years and here we are.

Things that resulted from playing CoH:

    >My first time an airplane traveling to California (from NY) for an extended weekend to meet SGmates/friends I made in game (Did this for 3 years running before the economy went to hell and we couldn't afford it anymore)
    >Bought new computers -twice- to improve gameplay
    >Made friends whom I cherish dearly and still keep in contact with even after they've stopped playing

When I first started playing, most, if not all of my characters, had a sentai motif. My first Global was @SolarSentai. Most folks new me as Solaranger<InsertColorHere>. During the first(?) Halloween event I created a character as somewhat of a joke - and the intent was to level from 1 - 50 only doing the Halloween event. His name was Zombie Fryer. He was the second character created on my second account, @LunarSentai. In all honesty, I never thought I would play him as much as I have over the years (4506 hours on patrol as of last night). The concept was that he was a Werewolf who loved to fry (cook) and eat zombies. When I started becoming more social and joining channels, people always assumed based on my name that I was in fact a zombie who does the frying.

Either way, a character that started in jest turned out to become my namesake and that was the beauty of CoH. There were so many options for character development, for how your character looked and how you could play the game. You weren't bound to the vanilla formula of bash-bash-xp-bash-bash-xp. We had mini-games within the main game (the market, badges, etc). We had an amazing community of players.

As such, I want to give a big thank you to everyone who made this game awesome - to all the players who invested their time to lead raids, trials, run events - to teach others the ins and outs of the game. And to the player base in general. You all made logging worthwhile.

And on a completely unrelated note:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kl1ujzRidmU <-- This guy. You know, the dad who shot up his daughter's laptop. He played CoH. For many years. And I was friends with him. I met him and his wife in person on one of my California trips and he's a really a fun guy. Also, he generally played Assault Rifle blasters. ... yea.

    Sigh.

I keep hoping this is just a bad dream. And I won't truly believe it until the servers are shut down for good.

So with that, I'll be around until the end. Zombie Fryer will be dancing in the bowl in the Hive as the power goes out on the servers.

    /em dance2
  3. I was at work and a friend of mine sent me a message on Facebook.

Needless to say, I was distracted for the rest of the day.

I sent out a few text messages letting others know.

    :\
  4. I just want to thank you again for the awesome work you did on the dolls I received from you. I was beyond happy when I got them, and given the recent news, I'm even more so happy. I'll always have a momento of my favorite character and it will just reinforce the memories I have of my COH life.

So again, from the bottom of my heart, thank you.

    Edit//

I was going through my Facebook and came across this:

As I said, I'm grateful for your work

I don't think the shock has fully set in.

Gokaiger is one of my favorite sentai series. Aside from the fanservice, it had action, drama, comedy and just plain out WTH moments that make sentai enjoyable for me.

Power Rangers, for me, has been on a sharp decline post Dino Thunder. SPD was tolerable, but ugh... the rest of them after that... not so much.

Generally speaking I've been enjoying the Kamen Rider shows more so than the Sentai series as of late.

Go Busters has been somewhat of a disappointment. The previews made it look interesting, and I like the "theme" of the show and the music, but meh... the characters... I can't get hooked.

Fourze on the other hand... I will be sad when the season finishes... Kamen Rider Wizard looks like it could be fun. I just hope they keep it on the lighter side and not make him too dark.

What I discovered was that in the middle of some fights, there would be so much graphic stuff on the screen that my cursor was completely gone, and I'd end up having to try to figure out where it was, meanwhile trying to do damage to enemies. I'd sometimes just use the number keys for fighting (cause I just couldn't find the cursor), but when it came to targeting, I was having serious trouble.

Part of it was lag, even though I have a pretty good connection and an excellent computer system. The other part was just because so much action was taking part on the screen that it was just practically impossible to figure out what was what.

What sorts of solutions do people have for this? I know you can use hotkeys, but I was having serious trouble with this (as I couldn't even see what was being targeted, and sometimes for reasons I don't know, other teammates ended up being targeted instead of the mobs). I figure people play in groups all of the time, so could use some friendly advice for a baby tanker.
I rarely use the mouse myself - only for clicking on doors, glowies, etc. I use tab and alt+tab (targets closest enemy) for targeting purposes. Incidentally, you can target through teammates if they have something directly targeted. (If they're targeting through someone else, I don't think it works). So if for some reason you find yourself targeting a teammate rather than an enemy, you can still attack or taunt through them.

Also as a side note, there is a maximum amount of "aggro" you can keep at any given time. (12 or 15 baddies, something like that). So if you're wondering why they're attacking your teammates instead of you, that's one of the reasons why.

As an aside, there are times when I lose the visual on my cursor too - usually to so much flashiness on the screen. What I do is just drag my mouse down for a few sounds and usually relocate the cursor by my system tray. Or, just tab-target.

So how would you feel if as a compromised they released the Wisp Aura for sale? I think it would sell fairly well as I see a LOT of people using this aura.

    Thoughts?
My thought is that there should be a time frame on promotional items.

As in, an item can be exclusive for "X Amount" of time and then it winds up in the Paragon Market at a fair price.

I don't see a reason not to once the promotion period ends. I mean, you figure that they will eventually stop offering the Dark Matter auras via Twitter at some point so they can give away the new shiny.

I also feel the same way about the T9 VIP costume sets. Once they're rotated out, they should be put up on the Paragon Market (I wouldn't have a problem with a small premium on them either)

My search-fu is failing me, but I distinctly remember a Red Name saying that there was no Rularuu Titan Weapon model in the pipeline and that the Purgatory Sword was similar to what one would look like.

Granted, this was a while back so their stance on the issue may have changed.

FWIW I would love to see a Rularuu TW model. I love the Rularuu weapons!
  12. I remember the "12 Days of Coralax" and how laggy the Twitter page was then.

I don't see this being any different.

And, I still think people were using some type "grab text from image" software to get codes *adjusts tinfoil hat*

Anyways, yay for community interaction - boo for using one-time codes on Twitter.

Fair enough. I'm used to using "IO" as short hand for "Enhancement." I'll update my reply.
  14. Attuned Enhancements are supposed to level up with you. Whether or not that is the case at the moment, I can't say as I haven't been following the "bugs" with these Enhancements.

    VIP vs. Store

NCSoft would get paid for the points to buy what I wanted, and also get paid for the VIP access, so they really have no cause to complain about this. Life and finances are uncertain, I cannot commit to paying VIP forever.

Well, some of what I liked best were some of the advanced archetypes. Widow and Mastermind in particular. With the current sale, it seemed a very good time to buy permanent access to them rather than the temporary (VIP) access that I have. This seems to not be allowed - anything I have a temporary (VIP) access to I cannot buy permanent access to. This pretty much makes me feel like I wasted my time and money buying VIP.

I am upset that in this instance, I as a VIP am being treated worse than a non-VIP by being barred from buying permanent access to these archetypes.
Yea this has been brought up a few times since the launch of Freedom, and there's a lot of folks (including myself) who agree with you in that VIPs should be allowed to buy "permanent unlocks" of VIP features.
  16. Thank you kindly for the sales

Question about the Coralax NPC transformation-

Is that the same one as the one given away during the "12 Days of Coralax" sometime back? Or is it a different Coralax model/color?

    Edit//

Okay, so they -are different- NPC models. Figured I'd update in case anyone else was curious...

Third, are you going to look at the 'fool' magic buff power? At the moment the 3% tohit debuff it lays on you is essentially ignorable, but if it makes the difference between being able to fast cast your snipe or not, I could see it getting annoying very fast - especially since it lasts 20 minutes and can't be removed. It's likely not a problem if you're getting over the threshold using aim, but could definitely be an issue otherwise.

I don't know how I feel about making that cancelable. The point of MF is to be random. If you can cancel the buff, you can keep cancelling until you get the one you want.

I think being able to cancel it takes some flavor out of the power. (Unless of course you're just saying you would make [The Fool] cancelable and not the other buffs.
  19. I would recommend /Elec or /Fire

/Elec I think has better overall survivability and endurance management right out of the box. With IOs and Incarnate abilities, it gets even better.

On the other hand, if you're looking at a 50+ build and not really a leveling build, TW/Fire is a wrecking ball with the right slotting.

Either way, both are fun combinations!

  22. Got it on Virtue again tonight. #3 for me.

    Virtue ftw.
