Not sure if the comparison is valid, unless you take one of SS's negative balancing factors (say, the Rage crash) as equal to a KBers balancing factor of removing all its foes from its own AoEs. The difference is SS's Rage Crash doesn't also 'negatively balance' the rest of the team like KB does.
  2. Well, it is a great idea. That's why it already has been presented quite a few times I've suggested before that the forms simply act as modifiers (with a flashy visible component) to Human's powers and stats.

Dwarf would basically 'Turn you into a Tank'. It would raise your HP and Resistance, but lower your damage modifier.

Nova would 'Make you a Blaster'; reducing your HP and resistance, but amping up your damage.

Human form would remain somewhere in the middle. I still think it would be useful and maybe even a preferred choice.

None of the forms would have innate powers themselves, but must use whatever you've selected for Human.

There are thematic issues (such as should Dwarf really be able to fly?) But still I think this is way it should have been done from the beginning.

Oh, and your thread title is appropriate - this is never going to happen haha

  4. Hmmmm... that Statesman helm looks pretty nice - weird since I dislike Stateman's faceplate.

The pet companion - what could it be? Wonder if there'll be two of them like the helmets.
  5. I LUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUV the new lightform; it's appearance and it's power changes. I run it perma now and if they ever revert to the old lightform I'll have to quit playing my PB - I won't be a wispy batch of energy all the time. As a option, certainly, but keep the current look.

No, it's just the game mechanics are optimized (heavily so) around AoE. I personally love the Aesthetics of KB and wish the game made it a beneficial thing. But Eye Candy is pretty much all it is, outside of some who use if for mitigation while soloing (they're delusional when they argue that KB mitigation is needed on teams larger than two).

  8. I'd be content if we has a switch that just made the recent KB bug apply to your character. The bug moved a decimal place in KB-mag from what I understand, making your KB 1/10 of what it normally is --- and I luvz it!

'course, that's probably no easier to do on an individual character basis than any of these other suggestions.

One of my 'IDF' costume slots was doing similiar. When I'd select it - the bottoms would revert to tight sleek, and wouldn't seem to give me the option to reselect IDF bottoms. I've left that costume slot alone since I got it.

'Spirit' vs. 'Letter' of the Law. You're going by the letter. But if I literally never use forms for any reason, even if I have them, then from my perspective, the 'spirit', I play 'Human Only. If we want to continue splitting hairs, you can't deny I'm playing 'Human Only' from this point of view.

But heck, several human-only builds 'by the letter' have been presented, so both points has been made.

I only have each 4-slotted. I agree the 5th is pretty much a waste

When two (or more) people who have ideas about running both end up in the queue together, who gets to be in charge?

I believe it's big practice versus theory gaps like that which are a big part of why so few people use the LFG queue as a truly random team/league formation tool. People form a league and then (maybe) let other people join it. Which greatly cuts down on how many people who might be in queue can actually be serviced by it, which is incentive to ignore the queue and just go broadcast for a team wherever people normally form them.
Decent points, and I've had it happen when a entire league formed from the LFG tool. I'm not saying it's not an issue. There are always hurdles to deal with. Regardless, none of that makes the suggestion that I just go form my own team using searches and invites a constructive one.

I love it when this not-so-subtle condescending line gets made in all it's various forms. Not everybody is a leader. I'd say most aren't. In fact, for many players, it is quite stressful to form teams, not because it's hard to do, but because you've got to initiate that first interaction. It's a social interaction/personality thing. Those that have it wish they didn't, but that doesn't make it go away.

I know you 'natural born leaders' don't understand and don't get it, but many personality types find it very stressful to be the gatherer and leader of teams.

I should know - I'm one of them. And just so you know, telling us to 'just do it' doesn't help in the slightest. I love being on teams, but I *hate* forming and leading them. Some tool that would help me passively get on teams would be wonderful.

Yep, those two are game changers. Perma Lightform doesn't need extra praise- it speaks for itself. But Perma Innerlight means constant +30% Damage, 10s of 100% Damage, and if you get enough overlap via recharge, some of that 10s will be +130% damage. If that isn't a PB damage buff I don't know what is...

I would consider it "playable" but not terribly efficient.
I have 5 kinetics in mine (Radiant, Incandescent, Brawl, Boxing, Kick) - the downside is I can't load a full Hecatomb set in anything (but 4 Kinetics + 2 Hecatombs in Radiant and it performs fine). I did this not because of some "I.Will.Not.Pick.A.Form.For.Any.Reason" Rule but because I feel I don't really waste any slots with my current selections. Brawl is a Free Slot and Kick/Boxing are necessary to get Weave, whereas Dwarf isn't free nor does it prerequisite anything else.

Yes, Toughness can be used to get weave, but with a single slot in Shining Shield (holding a +Def proc) combined with Perm. Lightform I'm Resist-capped to everything except Psi, so why bother - take Boxing and Weave for Kinetics then get Weave.

It feels very efficient with nothing wasted.

Edit: I recently got the Vet Rez Power, so I'm gonna give up my PB Rez, slot Dwarf, move some slots around, and in the process raise my global recharge from 153% to 173%, plus the extra accuracy and endurance management they provide. So, even though Dwarf will never be played, I suppose I'll be breaking the OP's silly 'no forms for any reason' rule.

Wow, I'll have 5 Kinetics Combats sets in Powers that I'll literally never use. Heh

What do you mean by 'taking out'? If you're suggesting that Human should be gutted of powers that the forms have, then /unsigned. I don't even have the forms selected, much less use them.
  17. Late when I got home, so I didn't post my mids build. Anyway, it's comparable to the TwoHeadedBoys. Slotting is a bit different (4 KinCbts in Rad. Strike, along with 2 Hecatombs, don't have Thermal and Quantum shield at all. The 2 heals 5-slotted with Doc. Wounds for more recharge). Min is quite expensive two. Several Purples, LotGs, and the Gladiator Def proc, but it's quite effective.

I'd add that, in addition to high def and recharge, it has 4 AoEs (5 counting incarnate) so I essentially have an unbroken AoE attack chain when fighting lots of mobs, and enough ST damage to take out a Pylon without using Incarnate Pets (I think it calculated to 175dps for ST, not sure).

I'll post it someday, but anyway, you can already see that it can be done.
  18. Well we're not just making this stuff up

I'm at work, so no access to Mids (not to mention my latest respec tweak was done without updating my Mids file), but I absolutely have a Human-Only PB (not even using the forms as set-mules) with 153% recharge (incl, perma-Lightform, Essense Boost, and Inner Light), 85% resist to all due to Perma Lightform, and S/L def is around 42-43% (not quite capped, but plenty close enough). My recharge & S/L def was higher, but I've tweaked a bit for more damage and endurance management - I'm pleased with that little sacrifice.

I'll try to get that build posted this evening. If you're ever on Virtue and run across a PB called Socorro Starborn, that's me (my global is @KimLuster). I'd be happy to run a mish or two with ya.
  19. What about the KB bug? I know many don't like it but many do - I'll enjoy it staying around a bit longer.

Man, I'm gonna miss that sucker when it's gone...

Maybe, but I'd pay for that 'jumbled mess' yesterday if that was the quickest way I could PP customization.
  21. Don't worry KB-lovers - I have no doubt this 'bug' will be fixed.

And I'll miss it terribley. To be able to launch right into the center of a giant mob and take the Alpha on my PB, firing of Solar Flare immediately, followed by Luminous Detonation and knowing my team won't be chasing foes at all corners of the room... I've been loving this.

    It shall be missed.

[*] Human, Bi, or Tri-form? Why?
Although Tri is the most optimal way to level up. I still went human only PB all the way from 1-50 on my main, purely for concept. I don't like Forms, but I love everything else about my PB save the knockback on teams. The way the powers looks, that you have a good mix of melee and range, that you get toughness and heals. The AT is tankmagey-like, which is a viable concept (iron man, silver surfer) - it's just weaker in the specific power areas than more specialized ATs, which is as it should be.

    Quote:
    [*]What is "wrong" with Peacebringers?
The Forms were not put together well. They switch your powerset and lock you out of too many powers (you should really just be changing shape - not becoming a whole 'nuther character). And all Forms look *exactly* the same.

The AT inherent should be tweaked for soloing.

So much Radial Knockback on an AT that is meant for teaming was a brainfart for the ages.

    Quote:
    [*]What's wrong with Warshades?
    Pretty much ditto for PBs...

    Quote:
[*]What's wrong with the respective human forms?
Not much save what's mentioned above. Again, too much 'alike-ness' - Being able to color your powers (limited to light palette for PBs, dark for WSs) would be nice.

    Quote:
[*]How do they, if at all, compare to VEATs
VEATs were more thought out. Obviously, both EATs were designed with teaming as a desired playstyle, but VEATs have powers that make them welcome on teams - HEATs don't really. In fact, the KB of HEAT powers makes them less welcome on many teams. On an AT where teaming is strongly encouraged by the inherent, there should be *nothing* about the ATs that makes other ATs not want you.

I've never 'farmed' as popularly thought of in this game (setting up specific AE missions, hanging on to 'Demon Farms', playing a FOTM farming toon). I just play normal content at +0/+8 and play the market maybe 5-10 minutes a session. I've slotted dozen of purples, along with any of uber special and unique IOs I want, in my toons.

You don't have to 'farm', but you do have to play your 50s alot and be willing to do the market thing.
