You mean the leafy/bushy/grassy path aura that has no connection to the fire/ice powerset other than the name? It's most likely just a reference to the current season rather than a hint of a powerset.

I'd personally prefer Dual Pistols and Martial Arts, but a gun/sword thing could be interesting if they get around the huge amounts of redraw.

For surealism, I'd go for a cloudy sky costume and call the character "Not a Super Hero". Alternatively you can hit the Random button and call it Tristan Tzara or any of the other poets/artists that make use of collage.

You're not alone. I agree. I'm not even purchasing any sets that aren't Control or Assault because, a) I don't want them, b) I don't have time for them. Make Control or Assault and they'll get my money and I will find time to play them to death and back... If they're not Autumnal (or what we know of it) at least.

There's no such thing as originality because everything is just a collage of existing ideas put into an unlimited number of ways. Indeed, there may be existing ideas that have not been put together before which makes it seem original but ultimately they are all within our own experiences and are thus coherent with what we understand. It may be possible to break those boundaries with original pieces of art, music or poetry but for the purposes of City of Heroes our hands have been dealt for us and that hand is full of what coheres to our expectations of the genre.
EDIT: Just wish to add that I've been cramming my head full of Surrealist and Dadaist related stuff, so keeping this in mind here is how you do something original:
1) Dadaism
Hit the Random button.
2) Surrealism
a) Don't think about what you're doing. Just let the choices be automatic.
b) Get lots of people and allow each person to pick one aspect whilst covering the character image.
c) Get into a paranoid state and create something. -
With the current trend for unique animations and spectacular, new FX this "Autumnal" combination is an anomaly and would be insulting if it went on the market without anything special about it other than Fire, Ice and a misnomer.
As for power descriptions. Synaptic Strike doesn't mention Synapse in its description, some of Statesman's generic powers such as Jab and Hand Clap mention Statesman instead of 'you'. Can't check icons because CoHTitan is down (for me at least) yet again and the cached pages don't load pictures. -
The way I see it is that signature characters have their own special powers, just like they have their own special costume pieces. Valkyrie gets her own powers, Synapse gets his own powers, Neuron, Battle Maiden, Anti-Matter, Fusion, Jane Temblor. It's nothing new. Signature character stuff will stay signature.
I doubt these powers even have any new animations; the fire and ice swords are taken from elsewhere, there's a Dual Blades set to take animations from, there are already ice and fire holds.
Also, Autumn is all about weather, temperature, ageing and death... Not swords made of fire and ice. I think it's yet another stupid, pointless, unneeded idea. To be honest, if this is what's in store for Dominators then I'd rather get nothing. More Fire and Ice is not needed, there's enough elemental stuff that making more is pointless unless it's something completely unique like Wind, Water or Dark. Apart from Dark, the sets that Dominators need the most are Natural or Tech-based Control and Assault sets. -
I'd prefer Autumnal to be some sort of temperature, wind and plant based combination rather than fire and ice. If it's just generic fire and ice then "meh".

I always thought it was common sense to do something like this. I've found that you need to slot Lift for knockback otherwise the long animation will mean you may not be able to use a melee attack before they plummet back down to earth.

It'd be an expected surprise but it's still a surprise.
I personally think that locking Controller and MM doesn't have anything to do with lag or difficulty, it's to do with making the game more of a standard MMO for all the Freems who are familiar with the traditional tank/range/heal style. Ignoring Dominators, the last niche AT, is an extension of that. After all, the remaining sets are all Melee-, Blast- or Support-centric. Even the Tanker primary is being ignored in favour of the secondary. -
Thorny Assault could work well with a Shapeshifting theme. I'd personally go for Mind Control for a primary because you could explain the powers as some sort of intimidating presence or something.

The Vampire Collar clips with nearly every single piece of head detail, including hats, hair and helmets. So can we have all the other Circle of Thorns stuff considering you're willing to ignore your own arbitrary rules?

Dark Assault and Dark Control I am worried about, there's a chance that Dark Assault could be everything I hate about Dark in one place (long animating 7 foot cone attack, a snipe early on, not very good Ranged Damage due to the lack of a proper Tier 3 blast, NightFail).
Mind you it could also go the other way (Siphon Life, some Soul Drain / Mire derivative, changed enough to avoid the "no duplicate powers" pseudo-rule, other interesting bits and bobs like Oppresive Gloom, Cloak of Fear or the damage aura in there somewhere).
I just hope they don't resort to Dark Illusion. -

It won't happen though because there's still Dark Control and Dark Assault to do, both of which will be as lazy (mechanically) as the last Control and Assault primaries added to the game. -
I want these. My first thought when I saw them, before deciding that I want them, was that we'll never get them because the devs don't want us to look cooler than the stuff they make.

A few minutes ago actually.
I got to the first EB of the latest part of the signature story arc, used all my purple inspirations, hit Domination, got him down to 3/4 health, hit Mutation and got turned into a Rikti Monkey.
Then I died.
I got back and because of the long loads and lag he was back at full HP again. -
I'd like to think he'd be exactly the same as Primal Phipps.

Whilst that may be true for the belt (though isn't the gem always purple in all the CoT that wear it?), the big gloves are actually partly a chest detail. You can see this if you go into AE and edit one of them.

Shorter duration of the li'l guys but generate them all at once via the PBAoE. Swarm of a darklings that run around uncontrolled for 20 or 30 seconds with a a 4-8 minute recharge.
No way to perma, but up often enough that you save it for the important fights.
