What AT/Powers for a Shapeshifting Character?

Now that we have so many different animal and monster forms, beast run and even a possible wolf sidekick Im wanting to make a shapeshifting character. Not sure, however, about which AT/Powers to use. First idea is to use a dominator so as to tie in the form change with domination but Im open to any all suggestions. Thanks in advance

Kheldian.

More seriously, I think Dominator or Fortunata are your best bets - you can have a 'Control' form plus an 'Assault' form for Dominator, unless you go with the Domination thing, or you can have a 'Psi Ranged Blaster'/'Claws Melee Scrapper' Fortunata.

A friend of mine has a character that has different costumes as different animal "forms" he took multiple travel powers and only uses specific ones based on his current "form". So his Eagle form uses fly, his cheetah form uses super speed, etc. The character's AT/powersets is actually claws/SR. But he did a fine job creatively making a "shapeshifter" where the powers generally work with all the "forms".

Jem - Ill/Rad Controller Lv 50+3 Nic - Mind/Psi Dominator Lv 50+3 Lady Liberation - Invuln/SS Tanker Lv 50+1 Invicitx - Demon/Pain Mastermind Lv 50+1 Celeste - Emp/Arch Defender Lv 50+1 Nightsilver - DB/WP Scrapper Lv 34 Dusk Howl - StJ/Regen Brute Lv 32 Kyriani - Time/Energy Defender Lv 41Psifire - FF/Psi Defender Lv 50
Star Lighter - LB/LA Peacebringer Lv 30

Thorny Assault could work well with a Shapeshifting theme. I'd personally go for Mind Control for a primary because you could explain the powers as some sort of intimidating presence or something.

My initial idea is a Mind/Energy or Mind/Thorn Dom and explaining the mind powers as an extension of his abilities to communicate with animals.

I thought about doing that for my character, Skinwalker. Since in legend they have mind control and "bone barbs" and the like that they throw at people. I'm not sure I can handle the porcupine look though and not sure how I'd explain that away. Curious how you do with it!

Thought about doing Stalker too and using the caltrops and blinding powder for the bone barbs and bone dust (which they also have).

And on a different note, I love the idea, but for the life of me I can't offer any suggestions that haven't already been mentioned by previous posters. I am curious to hear how it turns out, though.

Type in [Wolf Pet] in the chat box on live and see.

My Druid Shapeshifter character is a SS/WP Brute and will shapeshift into Werewolf form (so far).

I had a friend who did a Claws/SR Morph character with different travel powers as well (SR's Quickness plus Sprint and Ninja Run [Now Beast Run too] is not a bad super speed too, sans bright fire feet syndrome too... Worked well for the cheetah form anyway).

Personally, I've found Martial Arts to be a great one for various concepts due to the alternate animations.
The punches can really sell a super strong heavy hitter, the kicks can represent more agility and such nicely... You can save them differently per costume slot, so that works nicely.

The above is my plan for a character that takes on many different forms...

On another note... an idea hit me recently for the transformation character (werewolf type thing). Going with a human using all Temporary Powers (the guns, hand grenades, tasers) and whatever else works and then only using the other powers in the transformed state.
That's a more extreme thing possibly not related to this topic, but I figured I'd mention it.

Again, I really like MA, but it definitely depends on what you see the different forms being able to do and what looks right/wrong.

This is a great idea. I love Kheldians (Have both ATs at 50) but I've always wanted to create a shapeshifter that wasn't locked into a pre-determined story. Gonna play around with it a bit and see what I can come up with. Thanks for the inspiration

Super Strength (or maybe Street Justice) could be good ones for werewolf/bear/etc type themes. It takes a lot of handwaving to make Claws work, in my opinion, as they're all pretty visually obviously weapons.

Single Target Radius = 0. AoE Non-Cone Arc = 360.
