Quote:Not all game mechanics require an in-game canon explanation, especially since winning bids and source of items is invisible. If there were you'd, according to story cannon, be trading across dimensions.
So while you'd be trading across "sides" in the backend server code, there's no reason we'd need an in-game story justification for how the game handles that sort of thing.
as it is, plenty of things are hard to justify with in-game canon explanations and we kind just handwave them away. Things far more intrusively obvious than where a mysterious item in a market comes from. -

Quote:All I'd be thinking about is all the prestige I *could* be earning for my SG.Another benefit is when the occasional server goes down, maybe there's an issue with the west coast servers, maybe my servers down due to overpopulation. Whatever, having some retired alts on other servers means I can still play without being forced to roll up a new level 1 character.
I'm really a base building geek, so unless I'm making Prestige for my base, I'm not really happy.
XP, who cares, I'll level eventually.
Inf, who cares, I have the market
But DO NOT mess with my Prestige! -

The games I am most looking forward to are:
1.) Jumpgate Evolution - http://us.jumpgateevolution.com/ - I've been training to play this game my whole gaming life. Privateer, Wing Commander series, X-Wing vs Tie Fighter. Yeah I'm THERE.
2.) Global Agenda - http://www.globalagendagame.com/ - Got a chance to play this at DragonCon. I like strong, balanced PVP games and this looks like one and was genuinely fun to play. I also enjoy shooters, and this one for PVE seems like alot of fun. Combining it with an MMO should be interesting
3.) Star Wars: The Old Republic - http://www.swtor.com/ - I was unconvinced about this one until I saw the multi-player conversation system in action. Now I'm SOLD SOLD SOLD.
4.) Secret World - http://darkdaysarecoming.com - I love the concept, love the look I've seen, like alot of what I'm hearing. I will need to see some gameplay footage before I decide for certain, but I have high hopes for this game, despite it being by FunCom.
Games I'm eyeballing but unconvinced about:
1.) Stargate Worlds - http://stargateworlds.com/ -
I AM a Stargate fan, but the gameplay videos I've seen have left me... unconvinced... but some of the ideas like the minigames sound interesting. Some of the design decisions are... odd... however. Still, it's on my radar.
2.) Startrek Online - http://www.startrekonline.com/ - I am only kinda a Star Trek fan. More a casual star trek viewer than an active fan. I'm not that invested in the IP, and the gameplay has left me.... unconvinced... but the video actually did look better than I expected, so I'll keep it on my radar. -
You don't even need aggressive mode then. You can put them on "Defensive" "Attack My Target" and you'll still get bodyguard bennies!

Quote:It has nothing to do with money. I'd be willing to pay a very reasonable sum for the max number of slots per server to be increased even if only by a few slots (3+). I'd even pay a not-very-reasonable sum!
Which is why they gave us the ability to buy server transfers. It's not their fault if some people are cheapskates.
What I WON'T do is be forced to play on different servers. I want my characters in the SG I've worked so hard to build, to play with the friends I've made, on the server I enjoy.
I do NOT want to have to delete characters to do that.
Now I've still got six empty slots on Virtue, but my wife is all out. We don't want to lose any of her characters, and yes she does play all of them. -

Smurch is one my characters in the game. I don't play him very often, but he's the one most likely to hang out in Pocket D. He's a demon imp from the plane of Acheron. He was summoned up by an SG mate, taken up by another SG mate when that one left. Dismissed in anger. Re-summoned by accident, then finally adopted by one of my wife's characters.
Smurch is evil with a lower-case "e". He's the "light someone's hair on fire cuz it's funny" kind of evil. A playful evil. He enjoys bad 80s television, unspeakable food combinations (often involving mayonaisse) and singing novelty tunes in a tuneless annoying voice (which, while I CAN sing, I also really enjoy singing in an annoying tuneless voice for some reason...). He runs a crooked business, SmurchCo, out of his closet, and can often be found at the black market, engaging in some minor market manipulation from time to time.
Smurch's theme song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_9b90vP2DA
Smurch's name came from my mashing some words I brain stormed together until I found a suitably impish name. Smoke and Scorch were the main components, but Smudge and "besmirch" were involved too. Smurch.
Smurch lives in my head. He's quite literally the little demon on my shoulder who tells me to say things I shouldn't, eat things I shouldn't and do things I really, really shouldn't. My wife says every once in a while I get "Smurchy" where it seems like Smurch is taking the reigns a bit. I tend to show up here sometimes when that happens, so I figured I aughtta call it like it is. -

Quote:Holiday events ON VIRTUE when Pocket D would have 3 or more instances up, I could get into absolutely any instance I wished within 5 minutes. It just takes a little patience. Which for a raid, you should have. This is no excuse.I keep seeing replies with, "Well, it's your fault for inviting the level 4 player."
Before issue 16, the Rikti War Zone would routinely fill shortly before or just after I would start a mothership raid. People complained that they couldn't get in to the zone.
Quote:Now, the same thing applies, except for everyone being at least level 35, quite a few are below that, preventing those that are level 35+ that would like to do the raid from entering the zone.
Not buying it.
Quote:Two weeks ago, a level 21 Tanker asked me if he could join my raid team. I asked him if he could switch to a higher level character. "This is the highest character I have." I checked his veteran badges, and he had none. What am I going to do? Say, "Sorry, you can't participate because you aren't high enough, even though you are able to be in the zone?" No.
I was putting together an AV team in G-Ville one time (Doing Positron, Lady Liberty, Countess Crey, etc all one after the other). Some level 9 stalker was in G-Ville and kept responding to my broadcasts BEGGING to be on the team. I just kept telling him "sorry, only looking for higher levels right now". Hey the Devs let him in G-ville! Guess I'm required to team with him! Not!
He was high enough level to be in the zone, but he wasn't what I was looking for on my team. There's nothing wrong with that.
Or do you think Grandville should be level-locked too?
Quote:This is a problem that was caused by the developers, and it's a problem that can only be solved by the developers. -
Huh. Well that sucks. Could we at least get the old Diff system re-enabled specifically for TFs/SFs? I'd be happy if we could just set them as parameters like timed/deaths/etc.

Quote:This.
I think I would mind re-gating RWZ though. I like how we don't have to worry about levels much anymore for certain zones, I can't tell you how often I've teamed and run into the "Let's all go to zone x! Oh wait, so-n-so's only level 25, not high enough" type of situations. Sure sure, we can and have adapted and found something else to do, but it feels nice to have the choice.
The other day I was playing a lvl 43 brute and my wife wanted to play a new character she made. I was doing Serpent Drummer with him and she was able to join me and run with me, which was nice. I like that. -

Brutes do great when paired with a Corr or Dom.
There's alot of synergy both ways. Either "Buff/heal me while I beat up these guys" or "lock these guys in place while I beat them up". -
Quote:Bingo. How does that level 4 get on a raid team in the first place? Someone invites them to join the raid.
The problem isn't level 4s in the zone. It's team leaders recruiting level 4s.
And maybe that level 4 wasn't "locking out a level 35" but rather no level 35 wanted to join.
Taking away player options is rarely a good idea.
Oh and yeah, get rid of the AE building and move it to P-D -

I'd say it depends on the difficulty of obtaining the temp pet. Shivans are pretty powerful but rather involved to acquire, for example.
-
-
Would be less OP and game breaking if instead you got a pet from them instead. So, aid GW and get a temp power to summon a Fortunata or Blood Widow. Aid Miss Liberty, get a Longbow Nullifier. "Miss Liberty sent me to help!" sort of thing. etc. etc.

I'm close to out of slots (almost to 36 char limit) and won't play on another server. My wife is completely out of slots and has already had to delete some characters.
We're hoping that, even if free slots aren't handed out, the server limit will be increased.
