"Owe Us One!!" A Proposal For A Temporary Power

We've all seen heroes & villains alike helped in movies, cartoons, games and comics alike helped by someone. Many of these heroes & villains in these other media have uttered a phrase like "I owe you one" or "I'm in your debt". In this game, heroes & villains say these things, too ... except they never really "make good" on it, do they? Oh, sure, you can get a badge and maybe (if you're lucky) a recipe that doesn't suck too much. But, you go through a lot to help them. Would it be too much to ask that they help you?

Well, here's a proposal for how they CAN!

Make a temporary power, given after beating a certain challenge that helps a signature hero or villain, that makes that signature hero or villain come to your aid directly! That's right ... make a hero or villain your pet for a short while! Let's have any number of heroes or villains from Sister Psyche to Ghost Widow, or even Statesman or Lord Recluse themselves come to YOUR aid for helping them before!!

Simply make this reward a timed option (like other non-mastermind pets, of course), and make the time either constant throughout the selection of heroes/villains ... or adjusted to the tier of the hero/villain aiding you (e.g. someone like Stalwart gives you maybe 3 min, Dr. Aeon maybe 2 min, and Lord Recluse for 1 min). Obviously, if you use them with differing times by tier, leave their power and AI at their peaks.

Maybe you can collect these "favors" or maybe you can have only one at a time, whichever.

Anyway, that's my suggestion/idea. Thoughts?

Too powerful and game breaking.

Would be less OP and game breaking if instead you got a pet from them instead. So, aid GW and get a temp power to summon a Fortunata or Blood Widow. Aid Miss Liberty, get a Longbow Nullifier. "Miss Liberty sent me to help!" sort of thing. etc. etc.

Much better idea. It also prevents the entire team from spawning Lord Recluses for a hard battle.... against Lord Recluse, which would be rather ridiculous looking.

This I like. If this was implemented I think there would need to be some limit on how many summons you can have for temp powers at any one time. Currently there are 5 temporary powers that summon pets and are obtainable an unlimited number of times (plus Amy's Ward which can only be obtained once). However two of them are of limited utility in a big fight (Clockwork and Warwolf) and one requires a significant effort to obtain (Longbow Mech) which precludes it being used frequently. That means that in general you're unlikely to summon more than two temporary power pets at once (maybe three if you're really in trouble). If a lot of extra temp power pets are added allowing you to stock up (and especially if they are on a power level with the Shivans and HVAS) I think a limit on the number that you can have at once would be needed.

Yes, that sounds like a good idea. Of course, you can include some lesser heroes and villains to help you out personally.

So what power levels are reasonable? Lieutenants? Bosses? Or say 3 Minions?

I'd say it depends on the difficulty of obtaining the temp pet. Shivans are pretty powerful but rather involved to acquire, for example.

Did he say that they have to be as powerful as the originals? While this would be a cool addition I think you should instead get a generic assistant instead of everyone on the team suddenly summoning sister psyche. You might get a summon long bow balista or summon ppd bot.

But this idea again makes me someday want hero patron pools much like villain patron pools. But only if villains also get standard epic pools like heroes have had for quite sometime.

^This. Sounds like a good idea.

Eh, five minutes in a dead zone. Not that bad, and easier than some of the others!

The revised idea (getting, basically, what you'd get for a PPP pet, but temporary and unslottable) works for me.

And that's what I felt was too powerful and gamebreaking. 8 people running around with Lord Recluse, Statesman, etc pets at full power.

Well, let's say you can only have one at a time then ... and if the pet you have is the boss you're facing or one of the rescues/allies you pick up, let it not work. Let the AI be independent (like hit it and he/she comes) so that, instead of clicking the ground where they'd show, they'd just show up by your side and "do their thing". Another option, of course, is to reduce their level to that of an Elite Boss.

Still don't like it? Okay, I can accept using someone under them like a Longbow Ballista or a Bane Spider Executioner ... but then, it wouldn't exactly be "them" that pays us back, would it? But at least it's something else.

Thank you for your replies.

There's also the immersion thing to consider which is why I prefer this more.

Sure I can see the occasional hero dropping in to repay a favor. He/she is one of the good guys after all. However I can't see the same thing happening with villains like Lord Recluse. To them you are an insignificant bug. They are more likely to kill you than help, and god forbid it get out he needed help at some point from an insignificant worm like you, that's like fresh blood in a sea filled with sharks. Lord Recluse doesn't return favors, he gives orders. That's why he has minions in the first place.
